> 24 hourReceived the DVD drive before Christmas and it took maybe 45 minutes to replace. Went to the internet to find detailed disassembly instructions . I took my time in keeping up with the screws placement as they were different sizes and lengths. Unfortunately I did not receive the tri wing screwdriver until 12/28 so I wound up using a star bit set which actually fit inside the tri wing screw perfectly. Reassembled and we were again playing games that had ceased to play on the old DVD drive. My WII would ply no games at all prior to the DVD drive replacement. I did not clean, test, or disassemble the old drive as once the WII was working I no longer needed to mess with it. ( It was discarded) I would recommend that before you attempt to do this that you obtain the tri wing screw driver to handle the several security screws. My results were not typical using the star bit but I was bound and determined to get my WII working. PTH

> 24 hourProduct was exactly as described. Installed in my Wi and was up and running in about 30 minutes. The products regular shipping time was really long (I think 28 days), but came in about 10 days. You will definitely need the custom screwdriver (tri-wing, thank you Nintendo for inventing a new screw head which isnt needed unless you want to sell new screwdrivers). Youll also need a very small Philips and a small standard screwdriver. There are a number of videos on youtube which show you exactly how to do the replacement. I used one called zombiesomething which was very good. I just went step by step and paused the video to take out the next set of screws. There are a lot of them so highly suggest keeping them in order as you take them out so you can easily put them back. I used a big jar lid so they wouldnt go rolling off and placed them around the inside of the rim. If youre like me and your eyes are not what they used to be, watch the screw driver used in the video (they are different colors) to see if the screw is a tri-wing or Philips (or make sure you have glasses or a magnifying glass as the screws are small). Unfortunately, the video doesnt go through putting the screws back so I had to replay segments to make sure I was doing it properly. If you can operate a screw driver, you can do this so no need to be hesitant. 30 minutes later, my Wi was up and running again and the kids were back playing rock band. Why did I fix this?

> 24 hourShipment was quick, install was easy and it has been wirking flawlessly for weeks now. Best thing is that the family can once again enjoy game night, just like when they were younger.

> 24 hourItem was well packaged and works perfectly with Wii games, it also works with Game Cube discs! Also, if you have games downloaded onto hard drive you’ll still be able to play, this only replaces the DVD drive. Easy to install, just go to YouTube for tutorials. Make sure to purchase the right hardware for installation if you don’t have already. You’ll need a “Y” and small Phillips-head screwdriver. Also make sure to keep track of where the screws go, taking them out is easy, but remembering what sequencing to put back in is harder.

> 24 hourIve replaced two original drives with these and both installed and run without issue. When installing, it helps to magnetize your screwdriver slightly (a refrigerator magnet does the trick) to help replace two of the screws that are harder to access.

> 24 hourDrive is either New-Old-Stock (NOS) or a pull. Either way, Im pretty happy with it. It had light surface corrosion on the steel parts, but the ckt cards and motors/harnesses/connectors looked perfect. Maybe it had been fumigated with the wrong gas at some point in its life or stored in a less than dry location for a LONG LONG LONG time. (not a wet location--not that much corrosion--very light, but more than Ive seen on some of my 20+ year old china-stamped-steel chassis innards that are in my garage) I believe that a lot of the worked for a while and then quit reviews are probably due to the above conditions. My replacement drives bearings and motors all spun freely (like the one I pulled) and it has been going strong for about a week, so no complaints here... plus I didnt have to try to move my games off the old wii and onto a replacement--and was able to hopefully put off the wii-u upgrade for another great while :) No matter what though, none of this is likely the sellers fault and is probably why the drives are so inexpensive. (e.g. you can buy 3-4 of these and still be less than the $75 that Nintendo will charge for the full service.) I didnt check date codes as the kids wanted to play right away! BTW, it is a DVD drive, but the Wii wont play DVDs with stock firmware. Also, this drive is quiet, just like my original drive was and seems to perform similarly to the original drive as far as load speeds and such. (my original just quit abruptly--was working one day and not at all the next... just wouldnt spin the disk anymore--this was a real life-saver)

> 24 hourMy girlfriends Wii laser lens ended up failing on us one day, so I figured, “Hey! I am pretty handy! I could replace the dvd drive! It was easy and so worth the money! Thanks for helping me fix the Wii, and I recommend this to anyone who wants an easier way than replacing the laser lens particularly.
