Original DVD Drive Replacement for Nintendo Wii Game Console Plug-and-Play Unit

Not as quiet as the original drive but not overly loud. Good value. Definitely need to order specialty triwing screw driver to install.

Worked for me. Based on other reviewers, I used the ifixit guide and it worked like a champ in about half an hour. You definitely need a tri-wing screwdriver and a 000 size Phillips (plus slightly larger Phillips that you probably already have in your house somewhere) but you can do without the spudgel, just use your fingernail.

The drive was easy to install once the Wii was opened to access the drive. Great care was required to be sure all the Wii screw locations were noted and the proper tools were used to remove/install them. The drive installation was the easy part and worked without any problems.

Exactly as promised, a new drive that arrived a day before it was scheduled. Only problem was the special Wii screwdriver from anther Amazon took much longer to arrive. Thought I ordered both from same but guess I didnt. Simple to replace after you disassemble the Wii which is the most difficult part of the task. Wii works great, doesnt make the clicking sounds the old one that I replaced.

I used this to replace a failed DVD drive in our Wii. The drive I received worked great. It looked new to me, so I cant speak to the other reviews that claim that they received a used drive. As for the installation, just find a good Youtube video that shows how to disassemble a Wii and make sure that you have the tri-wing screwdriver. If you move slowly and carefully its not that bad to do, and can be accomplished in about 1 to 2 hours with good lighting and some work space like a kitchen table.

so easy to install... must have a tri bit screwdriver. one hole is deep. check out the you tibe vidios. works great and runs more quietly than the original too.

We unearthed our Wii, and the kids were excited to play it. Alas, the drive wouldnt work. I found this drive on Amazon, looked at a great video on YouTube, and BOOM! It worked! The installation took about 30 minutes. Now the Wii is just like new!

Have had it for about 6 months now and it works perfectly. On a scale of 10 in difficulty to install I would give it a 7 if you have the proper tools it is not too hard to replace. Now if you have no idea what you are doing then do a search for a video to help you thru the process. I would recommend buying the complete unit since its not much more than single components and less difficult to replace.

Was a little worried that this wouldnt play Gamecube games but the drive I received works great and plays both Wii and Gamecube games. Super easy to install.

Okay for the price, I didnt expect new. This was clearly pulled from a broken machine, but it worked, it fixed my Wii, and it was cheap. I had no problem installing it, done and done. For not quite twice the price of a new optic for my old drive, and a much easier install, I got the whole drive, including motor and other things that might have been wrong with my old one. Very happy.
