> 3 dayJust received my DVD drive in the mail yesterday after mine started to refuse games a few months back. I was very nervous when I ordered it as reviews seemed hit and miss. Luckily mine works just fine. Took me about 10 minutes to install. Make sure you have a Tri-Tip screwdriver before attempting this! Without one, you will strip out the heads on the screws. If you are uncertain about how to open your Wii safely, there are many YouTube videos out there that work rather well. Just be careful to pull your Wii apart slowly as there are a few cables that are attached to parts that need to come off. The main front shield has one attached to it, and the DVD drive itself has 2 on the bottom that need to be unhooked. Overall, for anyone with electronics repairs experience, this should be fairly easy. Have tested it on many games, both new releases and original releases, as well as my whole catalog of Gamecube games. Everything works fine! Given the wear and tear on the exterior I would assume this looks more like a used drive than a new, but hey, it works.

> 3 dayInstalled without difficulty exactly as online YouTube videos describe. Exact fit, normal function after replacement. Quick receipt after order and fair price. Definitely worth the price to avoid buying a new console. This is the 2nd replacement on this console. Word to the wise: ALWAYS remove Call of Duty disk when not playing. Otherwise it will significantly shorten your drive lifetime. This is a known Nintendo issue. If your console is relatively new, I hear that direct contact to Nintendo may be met with a free replacement/repair. Too late for me as I had already replaced the factory drive once previously.

Greater than one weekThis is the second time the drive in our Wii died. They seem to average about 5 years before failing, just long enough to fully forget how to install them. Happily, its really not difficult, just a lot of screws, already had the tri-lobe drivers from last time though. Took maybe 30 minutes total for the whole process. Staying home with social distancing is easier with fun group games to do.

> 3 dayYou need to have a tri-tip screwdriver to take your Wii apart. There are a lot of instructions and videos available online that explain how to install, it is not difficult if you are familiar with electronics. It took me less than 30 minutes. This product worked!

> 3 dayThe drive arrived in as-new condition, and included the laser lens assembly. I had previously tried replacing just the laser lens, which is a much more complicated installation, as you have to disassemble the DVD drive. My problem turned out to be the drive not the lens, but for an extra few dollars I would strongly recommend replacing the entire drive if you are having disc read errors on your Wii. I used the DIY tutorial on ifixit.com and was able to replace the drive in 30 minutes. You will need tri-wing and small Phillips head screwdrivers for the job.

> 3 dayThe DVD drive arrived well packaged in bubble wrap and came with the tri point screw driver needed to open the console. The installation video can be found on YouTube and is a very straight forward process. 20min start to finish. Now my Wii is up and Im able to play with my Wii all night long.

> 3 dayI used this to replace a failed DVD drive in our Wii. The drive I received worked great. It looked new to me, so I cant speak to the other reviews that claim that they received a used drive. As for the installation, just find a good Youtube video that shows how to disassemble a Wii and make sure that you have the tri-wing screwdriver. If you move slowly and carefully its not that bad to do, and can be accomplished in about 1 to 2 hours with good lighting and some work space like a kitchen table.

> 3 dayReceived the DVD drive before Christmas and it took maybe 45 minutes to replace. Went to the internet to find detailed disassembly instructions . I took my time in keeping up with the screws placement as they were different sizes and lengths. Unfortunately I did not receive the tri wing screwdriver until 12/28 so I wound up using a star bit set which actually fit inside the tri wing screw perfectly. Reassembled and we were again playing games that had ceased to play on the old DVD drive. My WII would ply no games at all prior to the DVD drive replacement. I did not clean, test, or disassemble the old drive as once the WII was working I no longer needed to mess with it. ( It was discarded) I would recommend that before you attempt to do this that you obtain the tri wing screw driver to handle the several security screws. My results were not typical using the star bit but I was bound and determined to get my WII working. PTH

Greater than one weekPackage arrived in a timely manner. Easy installation. Be very aware of the delicate pins and that they exactly aligned when connecting. The replacement works well and we are able to play the WII again.

> 3 dayIf your Wii is an earlier model that has the capacity to read GameCube discs (i.e. most of them), dont buy this. My Wiis DVD drive was making a loud, unsettling noise when using the disc drive in any way after overheating from being on carpet - although it wasnt scratching discs, it definitely didnt sound healthy. I looked up tutorials on how to replace the drive, which was pretty easy to do and simply required I get a tri-wing screwdriver which was not a lot of trouble. I finished the replacement and had Wii games up and running with no problem. However, for months I had not even thought of testing it with a GameCube disc, and when I one day decided to pop one in, the new drive would make a weird noise and spit the disc back out whenever I tried. I found out that others had found they were also unsuccessful with getting it to take any GameCube discs at all. Being that one of the key features of the Wii was the ability to play GameCube games, this does not serve as a suitable replacement for those still wanting that feature. I wish I had paid more attention to the reviews so I would have known not to buy it.
