Original DVD Drive Replacement for Nintendo Wii Game Console Plug-and-Play Unit

So taking apart a wii console isn’t THAT hard, but it does involve some special tools (tri point screwdriver, fine tip Phillips head drivers), and removing the dvd drive does require some care. I recommend watching some ‘how to’ videos online first, but after installing this new drive, the Wii runs like new, and all for less than $30. The old drive wouldn’t take discs anymore (would spit them back out, if you were lucky). Quick shipping too!

Item was well packaged and works perfectly with Wii games, it also works with Game Cube discs! Also, if you have games downloaded onto hard drive you’ll still be able to play, this only replaces the DVD drive. Easy to install, just go to YouTube for tutorials. Make sure to purchase the right hardware for installation if you don’t have already. You’ll need a “Y” and small Phillips-head screwdriver. Also make sure to keep track of where the screws go, taking them out is easy, but remembering what sequencing to put back in is harder.

I decided to blow the dust of my Wii and play it again. It turned on but the disc drive wouldnt work and made a clicking noise when a disc was inserted. I ordered this drive and watched a YouTube tutorial to help guide me through the process of changing it out. The drive arrived in perfect condition and even included a tri-wing screwdriver, which was a great help! It took me about 20 minutes to take out the original drive and insert this one. I tested the drive before putting everything back to together and it worked marvelously! I then put the Wii cover back on and spent the next few hours enjoying games I had forgotten about. Im so glad I bought this!!!!

Installed without difficulty exactly as online YouTube videos describe. Exact fit, normal function after replacement. Quick receipt after order and fair price. Definitely worth the price to avoid buying a new console. This is the 2nd replacement on this console. Word to the wise: ALWAYS remove Call of Duty disk when not playing. Otherwise it will significantly shorten your drive lifetime. This is a known Nintendo issue. If your console is relatively new, I hear that direct contact to Nintendo may be met with a free replacement/repair. Too late for me as I had already replaced the factory drive once previously.

I bought this to fix an old Wii for my son. It was just what we needed to make it work again.

I am happy to have my wii back in working order for wii games (rather than showing me an error on loading any new wii game), but since installing this drive I have lost the ability to load gamecube games... most notably, Super Mario Sunshine worked with the drive I removed (while Wii titles were broken) and now its no longer possible to play a gamecube game on my December 2006 vintage Wii. Unfortunately for me Super Mario Sunshine was the game that I (and my kids) played most often on my Wii. This means either I will be on the hunt for a different drive or a used gamecube.

It worked like a champ but there were no directions. So I had to use a YouTube video and the guy hadnt done it before so it was a little tough but I got through it.

Brand new and worked perfectly. We can now play Donkey Kong Country - no more disk read errors!

Installed easily and returned my Wii to good as new!
