After using my Razer Deathadder for about 10 years, I decided it was time for a new mouse. I have medium/small hands, and after looking at other reviews saw that most people thought this was a good option for a person with my size hands. I like the thumb rest, the 2 thumb buttons, and the on the fly DPI adjustment. This is my 3rd Razer product (also have the Blackwidow Ultimate), and as always its a pretty high quality product. My only gripe is with the rubber on the thumb rest. After only a week or 2 the rubber started separating from the mouse. Its not a huge deal as I can just push it back in, but a minor annoyance. Maybe super glue will do the trick. I know this is a common problem for other people as well.

This would be a 5 star review if this mouse didnt occasionally die (stop moving), then reboot itself (i am assuming it restarts) and resumes working. This has never happened in game. However it does happen in desktop use. Other than that - I saw instant improvement of 100% in frags in PUBG. The design is perfect for me. The thumb level is actually something I am constantly using now. I just wish it didnt turn itself off every 2-3 hours during desktop use. Update: So they fixed the stops working issue with one of their latest updates. However, this mouse has another major issue - and its a show stopper for me. When you press and hold first of the side buttons really hard (such as in an intense battle for instance) it will block the left click button if you accidentally push it as well. Ive died many times due to this problem. The issue is with the spacing. There is no space between the side button and the left click button like on DeathAdder. This is a total show stopper for me. I have to now think of not double pushing the buttons, which is basically almost impossible in clutch moments. I got DeathAdder, and its a way better design. Buttons are separated from the top surface of the mouse, so you cannot push them at the same time. I wish I could return this mouse or exchange it for another (like DeathAdder). This is a failed product. I would seriously avoid it if you have anything but tiny hands.

Bought a Razer Basilisk to replace a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer that finally gave up the ghost after more than a decade of faithful service. RIP little buddy. Id return the Razer in a second if my girlfriend hadnt thrown out the box it came in. Its not so much the mouse that sucks, its the software you have to use to get all the advertised features: * In order to customize the mouse DPI, LED colors, button assignments, etc. you must download Razer Synapse (v3.0, mind you). * Synapse requires you to create an online account in order to use it. It also requires that you keep it running in the background at all times. If you ever close it, the mouse reverts back to its default settings. * The license agreement for the Synapse software says Razer and anyone else they choose may take any data they want from your computer without limitation. The license agreement also says Razer has no obligation to provide any updates or even to keep running the Synapse servers to allow you to keep using all the features of the mouse you paid for. If they ever discontinue their service or go out of business, tough. * The default settings cause the mouse to cycle through LED colors (annoying) but worse, it seems to prevent my computer from going to sleep. Even if I manually put it to sleep, the mouse will wake the computer back up, presumably so it can change the LED color some more. Dont leave this mouse connected to a laptop unless its plugged in to an AC adapter, or youll have a dead battery. In summation, Im not about to use a mouse that spies on me. You shouldnt either. It does make a pretty good cat toy, but I bet you can get a *really* good cat toy for $70.

The overall feel of this mouse is nice, but its held back by some hard-to-ignore flaws. The sides of the mouse are smooth rubber which feels awful and is impossible to keep from feeling greasy, no matter how often you clean it. My wife has a Razer mouse and the rubber wore away in less than a year, which I expect to happen here — I wouldnt have ordered it if I knew the size and smoothness of the rubber. Additionally, the mouse wheel click is incredibly sensitive and happens often when scrolling the wheel. Razers keyboard and mouse software borders on bloatware, and is incredibly intrusive and a pain to use. For all it does, it still wont boot your system with the LED settings youve saved so you have to tolerate the obnoxious default rainbow setting until the OS loads Razer Synapse. Coming from a Logitech G500 (which is no longer sold, unfortunately) this mouse doesnt really stack up. The rubber texture is hard to get past and the software is too much.

Had the mouse since December, really really liked using it, the cord got run over with the vacuum cleaner, and the brushes destroyed the cable in 5 seconds - just rubbing against it. The cable is garbage quality because they wanted it to be super-light. Razer will not repair it (even if I pay) they wont sell me a new cable to put in, they dont have anywhere I can get it fixed, and because I didnt buy from them I cant get razer care to cover accidental damage at an additional fee. Also as people have previously noted, their software is super sketchy, you have to log in to change the color on your mouse, or adjust any of the settings.

Ive owned many mice in the past - I had mouse click failures on some, sensor issues on others, but this one takes the cake. Simply using the mouse has caused the thumb grip to fall off...just using the mouse...but thats not normally a problem, simply do an return for a defective unit...right? Youd be wrong if you went with Razer. Never...will I suggest going through Razers Warranty process. Currently Ive been bounced between Razer and Amazon trying to get my mouse returned. And as of writing this review, theyve taken 1 full month to still decide on whether or not they can replace the defective mouse without me paying for delivery - having already confirmed during the initial support that the mouse is to replaced and they will cover the cost. Response from Razer Support: We apologized for the inconvenience that this caused on your end. Upon checking the photo that you shared to us, we can deem the device as manufacture defect. We will proceed to replacing your device with new Razer Basilisk. Kindly fill out the form below. I followed their requests and Im left waiting. Razer has left me waiting for days, up to 7 days for one response. So essentially, Razer says one thing and does another. I explained that they have already agreed to pay for delivery and now this problem is being escalated. Amazon stated I should talk to Razer about it....If I could give this a zero I would, what an awful experience.

Meh. The mouse is much more narrow than youd expect. I have small hands and my pinky finger dragged on the mousepad. But the absolute worst thing about this product is the software. To use the functionality Razer sells in this mouse, it requires installation of their Razer Synapse application, which requires the installation of a Razer Central application, which requires you to create an account with Razer. Despite my gut saying dont do it... I went ahead and did it. I installed the software on my Win10 pc and created an account. The result was 532MB spread across 8 persistent memory threads. No joke! Synapse software was consuming nearly half a gig of memory, the second highest user of memory behind Chrome browser. Totally unacceptable. Synapse app had 3 running threads. Central app had 3 running threads. Annoyingly, the chroma function (which I declined to install but was clearly installed anyway) was installed and instantiated another 2 threads. To require so much software, consuming nearly half a gig of memory, just to use a mouse, is not an injustice. It demonstrates carelessness and poor product development. Further, the account is active when the software is active thus Razer is monitoring and collecting anything you do via a browser and who knows when else. Their privacy policy was weak and all but declares your data is not going to be protected (seriously, read it to the end). The privacy policy clearly declares theyll be tracking your use of social network services (aka facebook, twitter, etc.) anytime Razer software is active, such as when you use the mouse. And since the software is mandatory... Razer be watching you at all times. Good luck with that.

Love it! Im replacing a CM Storm Havoc (not made anymore) which worked well but was a little too wide. The Basilisk is narrower, fits my (female) hand better. I love the ability to change the resistance of the wheel. The wheel is rubber-coated and easy to grip, and has a soft ratchet sound. The mouse itself slides over my desk with almost no sound, the feet are super-slippery. Rubber on the sides makes it easy to pick up when needed. I also like the Synapse software - had no problems that others have reported. I love the LEDs and the ability to set it for a very slow cycle through all colors. The wheel looks like a Tron light cycle wheel - very cool.

Good quality mouse! Wasnt meant for me though as I need a lighter mouse for gaming. Make sure you know the grams you play better with as i have the air58 from FinalMouse so anything above 60grams feels extremely heavy for me. If you prefer a heavier mouse though its comfortable and great quality!

Take your FPS skills to the next level with the Razer Basilisk. Boasting the most advanced optical sensor in the world and armed with features such as a dial for customizing scroll wheel resistance and a removable DPI clutch, the Razer Basilisk is the ultimate FPS gaming mouse. Outfitted with Razer most advanced 5G Optical sensor with true 16, 000 DPI, the Razer Basilisk gives you unrivaled precision and Performance.
