18-04-2025Ive had my Basilisk for about a year and ever since about two weeks in Ive noticed a subtle shift in quality. It occasionally disconnects on its own, Synapse lags up and the buttons on the sides dont work (then it bursts for each lost input) or it outright refuses to function normally. These are pretty rare now, but a month or two ago it started double-clicking for no reason, or dropping held clicks. Now it clicks whenever it so pleases, and the left click button has a slight jiggle to it. The mouse hasnt been dropped. I dont use it rough enough for it to fall apart like this from light use, especially when my last one lasted longer. Sometimes youre just unlucky... While I wait for my Steelseries mouse to ship in, I set my LMB to be disabled while left mouse click is set to the side buttons.

> 3 dayI primarily use this for Battlefield 5. In the past, Ive used a SteelSeries Rival 300, 500 and 600 as well as a Logitech G502. The Razer Basilisk is my new favorite. Pros: Premium material feel and finish Thumb rest DPI Clutch - the paddle itself is metal. Ive remapped it to my Spacebar. I dont find myself searching for it - its just right there. The other two side buttons are easy to find as well. Variable resistance scroll wheel Slope of the RMB and concave LMB Braided cord Great price (I paid $55) Cons: The clutch paddle has a solid (magnetic) connection, but Im afraid If I ever lose it, I wont be able to replace it (unless I use the smaller one that came with it)

> 3 dayI have a Razer mouse on my 9 year old ASUS ROG computer it still works fine and I liked it a lot. So naturally I looked to Razer for my recently purchased ASUS Hero ROG (its about time I know!). Fortunately I decided the less expensive Razer was all I needed for flight simulation because otherwise I would have wasted even more money on a more expensive gaming Razer mouse. The Razer synapse software loaded on a computer to control the features of the mouse is bloated as I recall about 385 megabytes - and with it you can do absolutely nothing outside of what a plain vanilla mouse does unless you open a Razer account. In fact you need to open the account to get the software. The privacy statement that you need to agree to in order to keep the account open (which is necessary to use the full functionality of the mouse) is scary as hell. You WILL BE TRACKED and Razer as well as any other party that they like is now also in your face. Also remember tracking of any sort takes away previous gaming bandwidth. I would like to have thrown the mouse away after I uninstalled the software. But guess what there is no uninstall feature for the Razer software either in its bloated folder or as an uninstallable app on my new Windows 10 computer! What to do? Well I recommend you assign a restore point before plugging this mouse into your computer or better yet dont buy a Razer product at all.

> 3 dayThe functionality is there and works great, fits in the hand well, however the rubber mat under the thumb came loose, and I had to superglue it down in order to correct the issue so that it does not come loose anymore, and cause issues when trying to hit the DPI clutch.

> 3 dayBought a Razer Basilisk to replace a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer that finally gave up the ghost after more than a decade of faithful service. RIP little buddy. Id return the Razer in a second if my girlfriend hadnt thrown out the box it came in. Its not so much the mouse that sucks, its the software you have to use to get all the advertised features: * In order to customize the mouse DPI, LED colors, button assignments, etc. you must download Razer Synapse (v3.0, mind you). * Synapse requires you to create an online account in order to use it. It also requires that you keep it running in the background at all times. If you ever close it, the mouse reverts back to its default settings. * The license agreement for the Synapse software says Razer and anyone else they choose may take any data they want from your computer without limitation. The license agreement also says Razer has no obligation to provide any updates or even to keep running the Synapse servers to allow you to keep using all the features of the mouse you paid for. If they ever discontinue their service or go out of business, tough. * The default settings cause the mouse to cycle through LED colors (annoying) but worse, it seems to prevent my computer from going to sleep. Even if I manually put it to sleep, the mouse will wake the computer back up, presumably so it can change the LED color some more. Dont leave this mouse connected to a laptop unless its plugged in to an AC adapter, or youll have a dead battery. In summation, Im not about to use a mouse that spies on me. You shouldnt either. It does make a pretty good cat toy, but I bet you can get a *really* good cat toy for $70.

> 3 dayAbsolutely stunning are the words I use to describe this mouse. I play alot of CS and I saw this mouse and was skeptical of it because mice like the G403 and the Zowie EC1A exist but honestly there are functions this mouse does that are simply better than those mice. For example the clutch dpi clutch and the hypershift mode for the mouse are some of the best quality of life features for any FPS gamer. As I mentioned I play CS and if you need to pull out any nade I can bind all my nades to either the side buttons or use the clutch to free up the side buttons and instead only use the dpi clutch to pull the nades. Not only that but the mouse has many many more features I wont get into. Essentially you can program it to do pretty much anything on your PC. From opening programs with a push of a button to text prompts. Also has on-board memory for multiple profiles and to top it all of a mouse wheel resistance tab (for a lack of a better word). This mouse is truly one of my favorites ever. The only downside is the slightly higher delay on the buttons, the Logitech mice all have a button delay of 4 milliseconds while the basilisk and most other mice have a delay of 8 milliseconds. This is the only downside for this mouse and isnt a flaw that will hurt your gaming experience that much. Pros: -Dpi clutch -Fully customization on the buttons that literally allow you to do anything with the mouse -16000 dpi 5G sensor -RGB lighting -Compatible with Razer synapse for all other customization needs -Tension for the scroll wheel is adjustable, not as much as the free wheeling on something like the G903 but regardless a nice touch Cons: -Mouse is a little on the heavy side but no heavier than its main competitor the G403 -Slightly worse delay on the buttons than the Logitech mice but no worse than any other mouse competitor -Razer synapse can be hard to set up but when set up it is pretty straight forward -This may seem nit picky but alot of gunk can get stuck in between the grooves of the thumb rest but its hardly noticeable while playing

> 3 dayHad the mouse since December, really really liked using it, the cord got run over with the vacuum cleaner, and the brushes destroyed the cable in 5 seconds - just rubbing against it. The cable is garbage quality because they wanted it to be super-light. Razer will not repair it (even if I pay) they wont sell me a new cable to put in, they dont have anywhere I can get it fixed, and because I didnt buy from them I cant get razer care to cover accidental damage at an additional fee. Also as people have previously noted, their software is super sketchy, you have to log in to change the color on your mouse, or adjust any of the settings.

> 3 dayTo be honest, I gave up using the clutch as a DPI manipulation after roughly 2 months. Im just fundamentally against the idea of forcing your muscle memory to adapt to separate camera/aim sensitivities with another action. This mouse is fantastic, just be sure to analyze the shape of the grip before buying. Im a long time user of Razer, Roccat, and Logitech and I always seem to rebound to Razer that can maintain perfect sensor accuracy and durability for years. If youve used Razer Deathadders, this is similar, though sits higher and allows your thumb to rest inside the groove. The Basilisk is definitely worth a try if youre looking for something slightly heftier than the Deathadder. Precision: 10 Shape: 9 Weight: 7 Software: 5 Button placement: 8 Longevity: 9
