Ive had my Basilisk for about a year and ever since about two weeks in Ive noticed a subtle shift in quality. It occasionally disconnects on its own, Synapse lags up and the buttons on the sides dont work (then it bursts for each lost input) or it outright refuses to function normally. These are pretty rare now, but a month or two ago it started double-clicking for no reason, or dropping held clicks. Now it clicks whenever it so pleases, and the left click button has a slight jiggle to it. The mouse hasnt been dropped. I dont use it rough enough for it to fall apart like this from light use, especially when my last one lasted longer. Sometimes youre just unlucky... While I wait for my Steelseries mouse to ship in, I set my LMB to be disabled while left mouse click is set to the side buttons.

For those with larger than average hands, these are very ergonomic and easy to use. Being able to adjust DPI on the fly makes gaming easier. I also like how tactile the clicks are and how comfortable it is to reach each button on the mouse with with ease. For high sense players, like myself, 16,000 dpi is way more than what the average player would need. The mouse is very responsive, and I like how the sniper button can be modified with a smaller button or removed completely. I use the smaller sniper button due to my thumb length and I can easily press it without awkwardly manipulating my thumb. For those looking for a good mouse for FPS games, this works well in APEX and Modern Warfare. My only complaint is that there is no onboad memory.

I own the Razer Deathadder Elite, Razer Mamba TE, now the Razer Basilisk, and my roommate has every generation Razer Naga. If FPS games is what you play the Basilisk is great, you can use the DPI clutch as anything but i use it to drop my DPI to 400. Another good use is to use it to speed up your dpi when you are running around so you can do 360s and 180s instantly. The deathadder is bigger which works for me because i have a big hand, the mamba is similar and has the side scroll feature which is awesome but ultimately the extra button and smaller size of the baasilisk makes it faster. Your ring finger and pinky hold the side... this is best for a hybrid palm/claw grip or a claw grip.

I upgraded to this after using a Razer Ouroboros for 3 years. The Ouroboros started falling apart since it had so many pieces, and thanks to me schlepping it between work and home. Within seconds, I was immediately comfy with this mouse. Couple things: The scroll wheel can either be SMOOTH, SMOOTH WITH LITTLE CLICKIES AS YOU SCROLL, or FULL ON RESISTANT CLICKIES. Its awesome. The light colors cycle, even without software installed. Neat. The DPI clutch worked great right out of the box. This is a great mouse that Id recommend to anyone.

I love the razer mouse Death Adder Elite series. The Basilisk series came out and I had to try it, The tension control on the scroll wheel makes it nice so you dont over spin wile switching weapons in my FPP games, the extra button for whatever you want to use it for makes things easy so you have one less key on your keyboard worry about. What I dont like is its size. I have big hands with long fingers and it does not feel natural in my hand like the Death Adder. When Im in game my grip just dont feel right seems to throw me off my game ,feels to small. It would be cool if Razer could build the next model based off the Death Adder and little bigger to. All and all Im still happy with the performance.

Im done with Razer after this. I own all Razer products... Theyre nice and comfortable! I love my keyboard and when it dies... Ill probably be pretty upset... BUT THIS MOUSE!! I am done. I thought it was defective since I plugged it in and boom... NO LIGHTS!! So, Im like... Thats weird. So, I uninstall and reinstall a couple of times. I use usbdeview to completely remove any traces of ever using this mouse... Reinstalls, different ports, etc... Nothing... So, I read on a Reddit post that I should sign out of and shut off Razer Synapse... BOOM! INSTANTLY WORKING!! Not correctly, because I want it to breathe between two colors. Listen Razer, I didnt become a customer to beta test buggy software that sometimes works and sometimes doesnt. The Razer Synapse 2 was great and worked... The Razer Synapse 3... It does not work correctly. I hate it. Completely sucks and I hate it. This mouse forces you to use it... IT SUCKS!! It doesnt work at all. I just dont care about Razer anymore. You turned a loyal customer into a nay-sayer... Now, when people ask me what to buy I say Logitech or Corsair. My friend asked me about Razer today and I told them to STAY AWAY!! I am in college in a game building program... Everyone needs good equipment... I tell them to avoid Razer... Synapse 3 was a mistake... Throw it in the trash where it belongs... I was your customer, not your unpaid beta tester... I couldnt be more ticked off if I tried...

I play mostly first-person shooters and World of Tanks, which I guess would be classified as a shooter, and the mouse performs really well. It feels comfortable to use and is slightly on the smaller side, which I like. So to put things into perspective, I wear and buy large gloves, ergo have large hands, and am able to use a palm grip with the mouse. The only downside of the mouse is that they decided to use rubber on the sides. After a while, the rubber becomes slightly tacky to touch, and will never have the new mouse feeling after you clean it.

I just really like this mouse. I had so much decision fatigue shopping for mice- once I finally landed on the basilisk i was so relieved. It conforms to my hand perfectly and its very accurate. I really like the thumb macro button that you can remove/modify to be longer or shorter. Great for specific games where you can bind a skill so you can cast without changing your WASD pathing.

Just bought the Basilisk and Ive been using the mouse for about a week now. Productivity software and some FPS gaming. Pros: As a user of generic (free) OEM mice, this was a huge change. It took some getting used to, but the mouse is definitely a huge improvement. I paired it with a new Razer Destructor 2 mousepad, it is a completely different experience. I initially thought the DPI clutch is a little gimmicky, but it has its moments depending on your use cases. Highly customizable, and it has a good feel in the hand. The ambitions of the mouse software its paired with are high, but... Cons: The new Synapse software. I realize its in its beta stages, but it makes the experience a frustrating one. Im running Windows 10. Ive received one Synapse software update since I started using it, and both versions are very buggy. So far, the app has crashed multiple times just trying to use its core functionality, the sensitivity buttons on the top have stopped working and its forgotten about my profile until I rebooted, and the color scheme has a mind of its own. Verdict: Great mouse, but give them a little more time before using the new version of the Synapse software. It could make the difference between being truly impressed and being frustrated.

    Greater than one week

So Ive had this mouse for about a year now, and I do very much like it. It feels good in my hand, and was a decent purchase when it was on sale for about $45.00 when I bought it. Now however it is back up to $70.00, and after a year of use there are some issues with the mouse. First of all, after maybe 5 or 6 months of use a small piece of plastic inside of the scroll wheel mechanism broke. I dont know how. I would try to open it up and fix it myself, but I know almost nothing about computer mice, and I was surprised to find that the scroll wheel worked perfectly, and it could even be adjusted still. I thought nothing of it. Then after another 2 months or so, I started to notice that there were inconsistencies when scrolling. For example, if I am scrolling down at a medium pace, then I slow down, the next few scrolls will scroll much longer. I didnt use to do this before (or at least I didnt notice). Then a week later, the middle mouse click started to act up. Now you have to press on it with much more force than any other mouse owned. Its not horrible. The force required to press middle mouse isnt really much more, I just wish it hadnt happened. Im not going to buy a new $70.00 mouse because of this. Also, as noted in someone elses review, the little rubber piece on the left side of the mouse feels like it is peeling off. It hasnt every come off, it just doesnt feel like its attached very well in the corner. I noticed this after only a week. Its only been 1 year, what is going to happen after another? Hopefully this is the extent of quality issues, and Ill be able to keep using this mouse for at least a few more years. Ive had worse things happen to mice, but as this is a $70.00 product Im disappointed. Also the software is annoying, but this has already been said in other reviews. These are only small things, and the mouse is still really good. It can be really sensitive for FPS games and what not, but also a lot less sensitive for regular use. I like the mouses multi-function paddle. I use it to slow down the DPI when pressed, so when Im trying to accurately click on something, I have much more control. Overall, the mouse is very customize-able, and nice to use. However the build quality of the scroll wheel seems to have some problems, and the software is a bit garbage. Good buy, but even better if on sale.
