I had a Razer Deathadder mouse before that I bought from a retail store (Target) and after around a year of use the glue that attaches the thumb pads on the sides of the mouse began to turn into a non-sticky substance. This meant that the pads would freely slide around the thumb pad frame which is definitely not good for gaming. I play a lot of CSGO, R6S, Hunt: Showdown, Rust, and a couple others which requires a smooth, stable mouse that had at least two side buttons. On the Deathadder the buttons were a little shorter in height relative to the side of the mouse, and they were also wider. I definitely prefer the Basilisks side buttons in comparison because they are easier to press as well as they give a lot more feedback to your fingers. The side groove is also another feature that I truly needed. My thumb on the Deathadder would be drug across my pad with each mouse movement which works but with my thumb resting on the rubber pad on the groove my aiming felt a lot more stable. Speaking of the rubber pads, they are SO much nicer than the Deathadders. The grooves in them are so much better than the spotted pads on the Deathadder. Usually if I got even a slight amount of bodily oil on the Deathadder pads, they became a slip and slide. However I havent had a single problem with the grips on the Basilisk. As always I have to compliment the Razer software that becomes available with the products as they make it easy to make profiles and presets to get that sweet range of dpi you need. The only problem I have with the software has to be Razer Cortex (this is unrelated to the product by the way) and its game booster program. I never saw any increase in performance (although it could easily have been because of a bottleneck in my system that Cortex cant help with) and it will not work with any games that are running off an SSD, it will actually slow them down. Easily my best mouse Ive had so far though.

A fantastic mouse all around, as most Razer mice are. The sensitivity clutch is brilliant. I dont play many FPS games, its intended purpose, but even for creative work, fine editing of graphics and documents, its a wonderful feature to have. Very easy to use, yet totally out of the way when not needed. The Razer Synapse 3.0 software however, is a step back from the previous version. Before you could set the rate at which the mouse movement accelerates, and with this mouse and the new software, you can only set a fixed DPI rather than one that will scale with longer mouse movements. Not a big deal, but its still a disappointment to see a feature regression like that.

I have been using this mouse for about a year and nine months now, and at first, it worked well. However, after a couple of months, it kept getting ejected, so I had to unplug it from my PC and reconnect again. I had never had that problem with other mice. I even tried a different mouse for extended periods to see if the problem was with my operating system, but that was not the case. Theres something off about this mouse in terms of its driver software. For the past several weeks, the scroll wheel stopped working properly as well. It keeps getting stuck in one direction (either scrolling up or down). At first, I thought there was something wrong with the scroll resistance adjuster, but the scroll wheel kept getting stuck at different resistance settings. Its a descent mouse, but dont expect it to last a long time, and you may get weird behavior from it.

I had to abandon Razer mice for a bit as the arthritis i got from limes disease while in the army started to get worse. I couldnt use my beloved Mamba anymore. I switched to the Logitech G602 and was in love with almost everything about it. But as soon as i saw the basilisk i was very happy. It has a very similar shape and feel to the G602 (the G903 was too skinny and long for me). But with Razers FAR superior software, aesthetic and switches. Happy to have a 100% razer desktop again and waiting on them to copy Stinkys foot pad to make ALL my peripherals Razer.

Please take the following review with a grain of salt, as I am by no means an expert. I use the mouse largely for non-gaming purposes, and the games that I do play dont typically require 16k DPI with a clutch function. Im actually pretty sure I could never learn to control it. That said, Im really enjoying the mouse so far. The ability to rebind all button functions was a big selling point for me, as it means that I can make use of those buttons with functions Im not likely to use otherwise. Im pretty basic, so the default rainbow lights were a bit much. Thankfully, they can be changed to pretty much whatever you want. Synapse is a fairly comprehensive customization tool that gives a ton of options. Unfortunately it does lock you into tying up some of your RAM at all times, otherwise all changes revert back to the original programming of the mouse. This would be a lot more enticing if it reprogrammed the mouse itself, allowing you to close synapse when youre done and still retain its changes. I dont run a high-end machine, so that extra drag on RAM can be pretty noticeable. Ive already considered removing it, which would unfortunately mean removing several of the big selling points and bringing back the rainbow. All in all, Im pretty satisfied, though improvements could certainly be made to the implementation of synapse.

Going from the MX Master to this mouse was a lot more natural that I was prepared for. The ergonomics are nearly the same, just with vastly more accuracy. It took me almost no time to get the hang of dailying it, and thats a huge thing for mice companies to nail- because more often than not, going from one mouse to another is like waking up with a new set of teeth in your mouth and trying to talk. Its unnatural and alien to you.

This mouse is kind of a sidegrade to the Logitech G502. Theyre similar in a lot of ways, particularly the shape, but each one has its own unique set of features that might suit your preferences. Some aspects of the G502 that I miss are the horizontal scrolling and the scroll wheel lock, but the Basilisk makes up for it with its DPI clutch and the ability to fine-tune the resistance of the scroll wheel. I particularly like the DPI clutch, as I use a palm grip and found myself having to stretch more than felt natural in order to press the G502s sniper button. The Basilisks clutch can be adjusted and it is the perfect length to both be easily accessible and not get in the way of normal mouse movement. All said, you really cant go wrong with either mouse.

Bought a Razer Basilisk to replace a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer that finally gave up the ghost after more than a decade of faithful service. RIP little buddy. Id return the Razer in a second if my girlfriend hadnt thrown out the box it came in. Its not so much the mouse that sucks, its the software you have to use to get all the advertised features: * In order to customize the mouse DPI, LED colors, button assignments, etc. you must download Razer Synapse (v3.0, mind you). * Synapse requires you to create an online account in order to use it. It also requires that you keep it running in the background at all times. If you ever close it, the mouse reverts back to its default settings. * The license agreement for the Synapse software says Razer and anyone else they choose may take any data they want from your computer without limitation. The license agreement also says Razer has no obligation to provide any updates or even to keep running the Synapse servers to allow you to keep using all the features of the mouse you paid for. If they ever discontinue their service or go out of business, tough. * The default settings cause the mouse to cycle through LED colors (annoying) but worse, it seems to prevent my computer from going to sleep. Even if I manually put it to sleep, the mouse will wake the computer back up, presumably so it can change the LED color some more. Dont leave this mouse connected to a laptop unless its plugged in to an AC adapter, or youll have a dead battery. In summation, Im not about to use a mouse that spies on me. You shouldnt either. It does make a pretty good cat toy, but I bet you can get a *really* good cat toy for $70.

Love it! Im replacing a CM Storm Havoc (not made anymore) which worked well but was a little too wide. The Basilisk is narrower, fits my (female) hand better. I love the ability to change the resistance of the wheel. The wheel is rubber-coated and easy to grip, and has a soft ratchet sound. The mouse itself slides over my desk with almost no sound, the feet are super-slippery. Rubber on the sides makes it easy to pick up when needed. I also like the Synapse software - had no problems that others have reported. I love the LEDs and the ability to set it for a very slow cycle through all colors. The wheel looks like a Tron light cycle wheel - very cool.

I previously owned a Razer Imperator, and hoped that the Basilisk would be a fitting replacement for it. Its not. For one thing, its small. I dont have big hands, but theres no good place to put my ring finger. Theres no natural placement for my hand. The buttons are weirdly angled and sized in a way that makes things awkward. The DPI clutch is a cool idea, but its placed way too far forwards to be useful for me. The scroll wheel feels very high, making getting to it uncomfortable. The RGB idea is cool, but only active when the software is running and youre logged in. This means even when your screensaver is on it defaults back to cycling through colors. Why is your choice not saved on the mouse? I know it has on-board profiles. The sensitivity settings are very customizable, and I thought the Synapse software was fine, better than I was expecting based on the comments. I would just like it more if the mouse was more comfortable. Also, it took Amazon *4 tries* to send the right mouse to me. Thats more on Amazon than Razer though...
