> 24 hourIve been working with computers since the early 90s. I have many VHS, VHS-C, and Hi 8 tapes. Recently I began to convert these tapes to digital files. I first purchased a $25 video capture device with DVD software (a somewhat antiquated software system) on Amazon. I have the latest Windows 10 updates on my 250 GB SSD laptop. In brief, this device did not work. I returned it to Amazon. I next purchased a more expensive and different (and presumably a better) video capture device at Frys Electronics. This also had DVD software. In brief, it worked a short while, then malfunctioned. In fact, it caused my computer to crash not once but twice! This seldom happens with a good working Windows 10 OS. I knew that there was a serious software problem. Apparently, many of these companies fail to update their OLD software. I then decided to purchase Roxio Easy VCR to DVD Conversion on Amazon. Roxios software is downloaded online, which is better than DVD software. Roxio worked for a few days just fine, then it mysteriously failed to recognize the video signal on both my VCR and Camcorder. I have a good working Mitsubishi VCR and Minolta Camcorder. I uninstalled the Roxio software and reinstalled it, and then restarted my computer. Again it failed to recognize the video signal from both my VCR and Camcorder. I then concluded that the video capture device must have broken. In my opinion, the best way to convert analog tapes to digital files is to BYPASS THE COMPUTER. There are analog-to-digital devices on the market that circumvent the computer. I hope my review helps you avoid the pitfalls and myriad problems I have had with this lousy technology! PS: Roxio installed software that was extremely difficult to remove. I had to use Search Everything to remove all of Roxios software. Moreover, Roxio surreptitiously opened my microphone. What was that all about?

> 24 hourI bought this software cheap ($10) after an instant rebate and mail-in rebate (that should have been a tip off) from a major big-box office retailer. I am running XP Service Pack 3 on a custom built computer with plenty of ability to run such a package. Right now I have Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 installed and it works fine copying, burning and making libraries and projects with CDs and DVDs. I have been happy with this version. However, because its 6 years old, I decided to try a newer Roxio product because I plan to upgrade to Win 7 and thought a newer package would be compatible with the new Windows. My purchase was a big mistake. I am a fairly experienced computer user 20+ years, so I should have known better. Basically, as in most things, you get what you pay for, so the low price should have been a warning. It turns out that this is 3-year old software (2007) and its slow. Yes, I got it to install OK and it removed my Roxio 7 and it was able to use it to copy a CD. However, it has a clunky interface and, in my opinion, is worse than the older product it sort of replaced. Fortunately, I have Rollback 8.0 on my machine (a great 5-star program by the way - its saved me numerous times) and was able to go back to a previous time and got rid of this Roxio product. Now it goes in the trash. After reading reviews of the latest Roxio products, I am going to stay away from all of them.

> 24 hourI bought this product (the current version shipping is 9, by the way), and, with one snafu, have had excellent success using it as a substitute for native Vista burning (which is famously unworkable) or Windows Media Player (which works, but is painfully slow). There are several unfair accusations in all these reviews which I feel need to be corrected. Yes, Roxio has support, with thousands of items in their Knowledge Base about the product. Support includes a fix for the initial incompability with the Vista driver environment, which is very simple and does not require Registry editing, at the following url: [...] While the above is simple, it is necessary in order to get the product working in Vista. The good news, aside from whats already been mentioned, is that, not only is the interface simple and unbloated, yet full featured, but it burns and rips lightning fast, even under Vista, which is a real trick- about twice as fast as Windows Media Player. The alternatives are Nero (which is now horrendously overfattened), various Shareware and cheapy alternatives, or Roxio 2009, much more expensive and again bloated. I recommend this cheap but powerful tool.

> 24 hourRoxio Easy CD & DVD software does not support MP4 file format even though their advertisement online says it supports ALL file formats. The customer service is inefficient and very, very, poor. I wouldnt recommend Roxio Easy CD & DVD software to anyone. Warning to the wise - STAY AWAY! You will be very disapointed.

> 24 hourI like this. It is easy to use. We frequently make everything on the old computer and it was refreshing not to have to go through a big, long, unnecessary activation process.
