> 3 dayI purchased this program for a mere [...] dollars, but it came with a twenty dollar store rebate (which I have not received yet) All told it should only cost me ten dollars. That is a good thing since that is all its worth. The good news for me: 1. It is simple to use and provides an easy way to burn and copy CDs 2. It does have a simple sound editor 3. It does provide an easy to use way to convert old LPs to digital files The bad news: The label portion of the program is almost totally useless! I have not found a way to import song titles. You cant change the font color. When you try to print out a CD jacket, it prints it way to big to fit in a CD case. Combine this with an awkward interface and its junk. NOW FOR THE REALLY BAD NEWS: ROXIO SUPPORT IS DREADFUL! NOT SURE ID WANT TO SPEND MONEY ON THE EXPENSIVE PROGRAM BASED ON MY EXPERIENCES.

Greater than one weekRoxio has always made a good product and this is no exception. The product does all it says . I enjoy making CDs so I dont have my original cds in the car. If some one gets away with a burnt CD ,I still have the original ! Good easy to understand software.

> 3 dayI bought this software cheap ($10) after an instant rebate and mail-in rebate (that should have been a tip off) from a major big-box office retailer. I am running XP Service Pack 3 on a custom built computer with plenty of ability to run such a package. Right now I have Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 installed and it works fine copying, burning and making libraries and projects with CDs and DVDs. I have been happy with this version. However, because its 6 years old, I decided to try a newer Roxio product because I plan to upgrade to Win 7 and thought a newer package would be compatible with the new Windows. My purchase was a big mistake. I am a fairly experienced computer user 20+ years, so I should have known better. Basically, as in most things, you get what you pay for, so the low price should have been a warning. It turns out that this is 3-year old software (2007) and its slow. Yes, I got it to install OK and it removed my Roxio 7 and it was able to use it to copy a CD. However, it has a clunky interface and, in my opinion, is worse than the older product it sort of replaced. Fortunately, I have Rollback 8.0 on my machine (a great 5-star program by the way - its saved me numerous times) and was able to go back to a previous time and got rid of this Roxio product. Now it goes in the trash. After reading reviews of the latest Roxio products, I am going to stay away from all of them.

> 3 dayEarlier versions, like 2007, I loved and it produced great photoshows. All of a sudden when I try signing in I get a message that my trial period has ended......and I paid for it a long time ago! Then I tried signing in again and I had to insert my email address and password. A message popped up telling me I could not get in. I was told to use a different browser! I found a work-around on my own but it didnt last long. Like others, I complained and got a ticket number after I chatted about an hour with online chat on how to solve my problems about not being able to get in, and then to have the program hang and hang and hang. I uninstalled it from my Windows 7, although it worked fine for a time on 7 and XP, and thought that my buying it AGAIN it might work. NOPE. Cleverbridge is the clearing house for buying many programs besides Roxio. By writing to [email protected] I quickly got a refund on my credit card. I really loved this program when it first came out and made many great photoshows, but now it really sucks and DO NOT BUY THIS PROGRAM OR ANY ROXIO PROGRAM. TECHNICAL SUPPORT WILL HAVE YOU RUNNING AROUND IN CIRCLES AND I CANT EVEN UNDERSTAND THEIR LANGUAGE, LIKE cut and paste your error message, paste it to Windows Paint (which I do not have) and there are about 30 other steps after this. I GAVE UP. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON ROXIO PRODUCTS. THEY WILL DRIVE YOU CRAZY.

> 3 dayI FIND THAT NEITHER OF THE TWO DISCS WHICH I PURCHASED DOES THE JOB AS WELL AS MY OLD ROXIO BASIC, WHICH WAS LOST IN A COMPUTER CLEANUP SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. HAVING MISPLACED THE DISC, I ORDERED VERSION 10 WHICH DOES NOT WORK WITH MY COOL EDIT PRO, SO ORDERED THE ROXIO VERSION 5 AND GOT THE #5 PRO (NOT BASIC) WHICH LOOKS TOTALLY DIFFERENT AND DOES NOT WORK AS EASY AS THE OLD BASIC VERSIION. AFTER MANY HOURS OF TRYING TO DRAG MUSIC INTO THE BURNER FROM MY COOL EDIT PRO, AND TRYING TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS, I HAVE GIVEN UP, BUT HAVE NOT BOUGHT ANOTHER BURNER YET. BUT I HAVE MUCH MUSIC WAITING TO BURN FOR MY WEBSITE MUSIC LINE (YOSEMITERADIO.COM) IAM ONLY INTERESTED IN MUSIC, NOT VIDEOS. THE MUSIC WAITING IS FROM OLDER VINYL WHICH I CLEAN UP AND USE ON THE WEB SHOW. THIS IS NOT A FAULT OF AMAZON. I AM JUST LOOKING FOR THE ROXIO BASIC 5.

> 3 dayI used EASY CD since version 1. The latest is a nightmare. Here is a listing of the problems that were experienced. . . 1. The program refused to install. After several unsuccessful attempts, I rebooted my computer with the installation CD in my CD/DVD reader. . 2. By the fifth reboot, the program began to install. It took over 20 minutes. . 3. Trying out the software, I activated the video player. It bombed because a file was missing. . 4. I tried the main program. The blue screen of death appeared, and I had to reboot the computer. . 5. My Windows 7 OS was destroyed as a consequence. This forced me to reformat the hard drive and re-image my boot partition. . 6. While my OS was being resurrected, I tried installing the program on a second computer. Immediately the screen went black and everything froze. I hard booted my second computer. Luckily my Windows 7 was OK and nothing was damaged. . 7. Next day, I went to the Roxio support website, read the fine print, and described the above problems on its form. This is a one-shot deal. The company only allowed one free inquiry with its tech department. Any more, the customer is forced to purchase a service plan. . 8. The reply was very interesting. Instead of sending a replacement disk or providing me an internet link to download a good copy, the technician needed time to study the case. If I wanted faster or better service, I had to purchase a support plan for a price. . This was unreal. The installation disk was bad, and the obvious solution was to replace it. There was no need to study the problem - the solution was brainless. In addition, a paid telephone conversation with a high price technician was not going to cause the defective installation disc to become good. . . It is too bad that the Amazon.com website does not allow a 0 Star rating. As a result, my 1 Star award is the best that can be given. . . . --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- . . . UPDATE . Two days later, the technician emailed a link to download a good copy of the software. The program installed without any problems. . Unfortunately, my 1 Star rating remains unchanged for these reasons. . 1. The brainless solution should not take two days to resolve. The problem was obvious - defective software. . 2. Limiting free customer service contact to one emailing is a bad business practice. It is also insulting to require the user to purchase a technical service plan if further technical support was needed. . 3. Consumers should not have to pay $35 per hour to talk to a technician by telephone. This was the companys definition of quicker and better service.
