> 24 hourIt took a while to download and install. I was able to record a video but I thought the quality of the video would be better My biggest issues ended up being: 1. If you choose to use the enhanced MyDVD program, it take 30 or more minutes to import. I walked away and did other things and came back when it was done. Then when the program is loaded, you cant see all the options until you make the screen box smaller because some of the MyDVD menus are below Windows Start bar. Once I could adjust the screen smaller, I could see all the features. But this wasnt the worst of it. After working in the MyDVD software to the point I was ready to burn to a DVD, the whole application just quit/disappeared from the screen with no errors. When I restarted the MyDVD software back up and opened the project, I would have to make the same adjustments/rename the components and as soon as I clicked burn to DVD, it quit/disappeared again. I even restarted a new project and waited again for it to load and I was never able to get MyDVD to function to burn a DVD. I eventually realized you could burn a DVD from the standard software (photos attached). I was able to successfully burn one DVD. After that, I could never get it to burn again. It went through the entire process until 99% and eventually state there was an issue with the DVD. Once that happens, it renders the DVD useless because you if you try to use the DVD again, it states it cannot used and to install a blank DVD. I spent so much time with this software over the past few days that I gave up on downloading VHS tapes to DVDs. Heaven forbid I take advantage at least transferring my home VHS tapes to the computer. It may not be cheaper to pay a professional company but it sure will be faster.

> 24 hourThis product is ok and overall it did what I needed it to do. . . Eventually. The editing software really only lets you cut scenes out of the video. It is difficult to get it to stop where you need it to to cut the clip just right but its do able. I bought this to save my parents 7 VHS wedding tapes to a flash drive for them. I also wanted to chop them up into rehearsal, ceremony, receiving line, etc. About half way through the program was having issues and kept saying unknown error the program will shut down now and then closing (thankfully it still saved my work) I called their customersl service number and got a lady in India that was incredibly hard to understand. She took my email address and sent me a test email. Once I got that she told me tech support would contact me soon by email. Its several days later now and still nothing. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and it appears to be working as it should again. I spent less than $40 on this, and overall I would buy it again but not for a penny more. I am glad I got this vs. just the cord so I could chop up the videos because most free video editing software will put a water mark on your video but thankfully this does not.

> 24 hourThis works well converting my parents video tapes by plugging into the camcorder. Only problem is the product gets hot and to prevent damage, its necessary to give it a break after each hour or so of use.

> 24 hourI would give this 5 stars if the audio would not or could eliminate a clicking noise that I think is coming from the VCR or my audio card as I tried 4 VCRs and the clicking noise was still present - not sure what it is but after many start overs and the cheapest VCR I have the clicking noise was very faint.

> 24 hourOverall it seems to be recording well and everything seems to be working now. But fresh out of the box two big problems. The first is that youll soon see that you need your own cables to connect a VCR to the cables sold with this package. It would have cost them very little to have the appropriate cables in there but instead you need to order them. Nowadays few people will have those lying around already. The other big complaint is that I downloaded the software that they said onto my brand new PC computer with latest operating system. Then as soon as you try to run it it tells you thats out of date and you need to download a new one. And there are all sorts of security problems with downloading the new one and it first the old one doesnt want to run either until you redo your security settings. But after doing that and restarting my computer and ignoring the update it seems to be working okay. But for goodness sakes, I have no idea why they wouldnt have the latest software to download on their download page! And the security problems, you think they could figure that one out. But once you get through that its relatively easy to record whatever you want to play on your VCR

> 24 hourI dont usually write reviews, but I hope that my experience may be helpful to others. I couldnt get the product to work on Windows 10, but I did manage to get it work on Windows 7. Here are a couple of things I did that made a big difference for me. First, download the software from the web. Then, when prompted to upgrade, say No. Initially I chose to upgrade, the video quality was awful, so I had to uninstall it and download/install it again. Secondly, use S-Video instead of the yellow cable for video input. The video quality is considerably better with S-Video input. Overall, the product worked well on Windows 7. The product is easy to use, and the video quality is good. I was able to convert my mini DV tapes to digital files so I was pretty happy. I dont know why the product didnt work on Windows 10 in my case.

> 24 hourI thought I was going to have to spend hundreds of dollars transferring a bunch of old camcorder videos to digital format. I happened to come across this $20 thing, and I assumed it wouldnt work. Why do companies charge so much money to transfer videos if you can buy a $20 device online and do the same thing yourself? I figured I should at least try. I was amazed at how well the Roxio product worked. If you have some videos you want to transfer - and if you have a VCR or something that will still play them - try this product. You could save hundreds of dollars.

> 24 hourI was hesitant to buy this after reading the reviews. But I ended up purchasing it anyways. After some initial issues I was able to put my VHS home movies on my harddrive. After going to the Roxio website and downloading the software (per their recommendations), it was still missing “Critical Registry Keys” and would not run. The Roxio website wasn’t much help. So I installed the software disk that came in the box.Leaving the web download installed. After install it prompted me to update the software. I clicked the link and the software worked as it should. Software is pretty basic and easy to navigate. I would have liked to see more editing options, but it does what it says it will do. This software and hardware will get your videos to your computer but it is a “no frills” package. There is a trim option to clip out sections of video. This, for me anyway was tricky to accomplish. I had to be careful as to not trim/delete sections I wanted to keep.
