I dont usually write reviews, but I hope that my experience may be helpful to others. I couldnt get the product to work on Windows 10, but I did manage to get it work on Windows 7. Here are a couple of things I did that made a big difference for me. First, download the software from the web. Then, when prompted to upgrade, say No. Initially I chose to upgrade, the video quality was awful, so I had to uninstall it and download/install it again. Secondly, use S-Video instead of the yellow cable for video input. The video quality is considerably better with S-Video input. Overall, the product worked well on Windows 7. The product is easy to use, and the video quality is good. I was able to convert my mini DV tapes to digital files so I was pretty happy. I dont know why the product didnt work on Windows 10 in my case.

I had to purchase this item from Amazon USA and did not realise that there was a large handling fee and for purchasers in UK makes this product expensive. It was unavailable on Amazon Prime UK. As software, it is super and I used a Video recorder purchased for £3 in a charity shop. The instructions are clear and are completely build in. I would seriously recommend this software & its hardware. However, the cost is high to buy for the US.

After installing this program, it took six days of deep digging through the Amazon site customer reviews and a couple sites about connection cables to get enough information to have a working program. I can see the reasons for the very negative reviews, over the top frustration with the lack of resources to get it to work. Product information only suggests checking connections again and again or reinstalling. It is not surprising many customers give poor reviews and throw up their hands and return the product. What I found out in six days; I was able to actually create a disk of my VHS tape. I dont agree that it is easy, so far I can only save to my computer, other choices wont work, I am able to copy that save that file to the DVD. Possibly I will learn more about the supposed ways of saving the recording in the next few days? 1). requires male (RCA or S video) connection cables with same connections on both ends to join the Easy device to the VHS player. 2). requires DVD + R discs to record videos. (DVD-R will not record, are not recognized in a computer). 3). ensure that your security settings allow apps to access your camera and microphone. Toggle the switch on both to ON. (To find the security area: select the following: windows icon, settings gearwheel icon, security) OR in This PC, search window, type security, select security). 4). Product comes with an installation disc so going to site for installation is not required. The VHS to DVD user guide can be quite helpful for installing and creating WHEN you can see your tape actually playing in the program.

I am so happy that this works for converting old VHS to digital files. I bought a different (cheaper) product, thinking they would all be the same. The problems I had with that, such as terrible audio quality and the audio-video being out of sync, were things that I thought I would just have to deal with when converting VHS. On a whim, I decided to buy this version based on familiarity with the brand - I am so happy that I went with Roxio! This is so easy to use, the audio and video are exactly what I was hoping for, and I didnt have to make any adjustments at all to the more technical settings. This was a great purchase, and I cant wait to share all of the old home movies with my family!

I used this plus an old working VCR to convert a set of 4 VHS home movies my Dad made in the 80s. Rather than use the software on the CD included, I downloaded the latest version from Roxio (plus an update) and it worked well on my 9 year old Windows 10 machine (AMD FX 8120 3.1 Ghz CPU, 16gb ram, and 512GB SSD). Rather than let it run for the whole 2 hours, I sectioned my videos up in 20-30 minute segments to make it easier to manage. I was able to create video files to put on USB flash drives to hand out to family, as well as menu-driven DVDs (which I created using the built in Roxio MyDVD). The software feels a bit dated, but then again so are the source VHS tapes. Overall Im pretty happy to be able to archive these home movies using this affordable solution.

I was hesitant to buy this after reading the reviews. But I ended up purchasing it anyways. After some initial issues I was able to put my VHS home movies on my harddrive. After going to the Roxio website and downloading the software (per their recommendations), it was still missing “Critical Registry Keys” and would not run. The Roxio website wasn’t much help. So I installed the software disk that came in the box.Leaving the web download installed. After install it prompted me to update the software. I clicked the link and the software worked as it should. Software is pretty basic and easy to navigate. I would have liked to see more editing options, but it does what it says it will do. This software and hardware will get your videos to your computer but it is a “no frills” package. There is a trim option to clip out sections of video. This, for me anyway was tricky to accomplish. I had to be careful as to not trim/delete sections I wanted to keep.

My father was unable to link his vcr to his new t.v. My brother and I decided to get him a t.v. with a dvd player inside. I used this product to convert his vhs to dvd. I have made my dad a very happy man. He now is able to watch all the videos he has purchased in the past, especially when the weather interferes with his dish. He is still able to watch television! Happy dad, happy child. It warms my heart to help him with tech.

Although this software is easy to use, it crashes regularly. When the files are large, it takes hours to convert them to DVD if it works at all. There is an update patch to this software that I installed but it does not take care of the crashes and long delays. I am in the market for an alternative to this. I thought Roxio knew what they were doing. I was able to convert three tapes and do some captures so it sort of works, but I have 30-50 tapes to do and I dont trust this stuff.

Ive used several different video transfer systems over the decades. This system is very easy to transfer videos to the computer. As fare as transferring them to DVD, I have not tried that yet.
