Need to download software, comes with complicated instructions. Doesn’t work. Tried multiple times, When I ask for trouble shooting - the first response is to try a different cable (other than the brand new one it came with????) ended up having to buy a different brand. I really would like a refund

I have had to go to snapshot only function to make it trustworthy. The software for the device often fails to recognize the computer when I plug it back in, the device itself had to be scanned and repaired, and it fails to properly update files when I activate it. Ive had other Seagate Drives that were OK. Im sure my experience isnt average for the device. I have about 35 years experience including college training in computers, software, and have continuously used a wide variety of programs/apps on multiple higher end computers and laptops. Some of my files are highly proprietary, valuable, and not reproducible other than from backup, so I need a fully dependable backup systems. Of course, I do multiple backups periodically, one other is an automatic system which to date, has been flawless. For me, this device is my least favorite ever. I do have a much earlier La Cie (ca 2005), same company, which has been great and still functions as a tertiary file cabinet.

Good hard drive, it has nice security with the password protection.

I have a 2017 MacBook Pro with only a 256gb SSD. Ive been able to manage thus far, until my job has transitioned into more media and editing. Using primarily Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator has made this external hard drive a necessity. I formatted it to Mac OS Extended (journaled) using DIsk Utility and have it set up as my scratch disk for my Adobe Cloud and it has been perfect for my needs. Easy and fast and its quiet too. Small footprint makes it easy to throw in my bag and bring it with me. Im very pleased! *One important thing to note that can be seen in the stock photos, but not gleaned from the title: the unit itself is NOT usb c...but rather they include a usb 2 to usb 3 adapter. At 2TB...I should be good to go for a very long time!

Set this up 6 months ago, today manually updated after large download, found it had not been backing up like I thought. It asked for password, put in my usual and it said it was wrong-looked at my hint which says use regular password - nope didnt work. I then wasted a half hour looking for a way to reset my password-nothing. I started a chat and asked simply how to reset password-50 minutes later after multiple back and forth they finally told me THEY DONT DO THAT! You have to completely wipe all the data from the drive and start all over again-which took over an hour. On top of that it never did prompt me to choose a new password so I dont know if next time I will have to do this all over again.

The quality is very good, exactly the same as the sellers description, very satisfied, really like it, completely exceeding expectations, and the packaging is very careful and strict. Very satisfied shopping, next time I need it, I will choose it again

I was trying to back up my Mac onto this and when it finally worked it did its job, but you have to be patient with it. In order to use it, I had to completely wipe everything from it with the highest setting (which took a good 10 hours for some reason), but then it seems to work well.

Bought this for an IT client. Installed as second backup drive. Works great, and client is happy.

It exceeds expectations, easy to set up and comes with software that loaded automatically.

super cute and easy to use. i had a hell of a time finding a hard drive with a usb-c port, and this one did not disappoint
