> 3 dayIm happy with its performance. My measurements: R 133MB/s, W 132MB/s. It works well with my MacBook Pro (I had to reformat it, so I can use it as Time Machine backup). And I like the design, too.

> 3 daythe finish and looks are really good and its a light weight hdd. Write read speed is also 80Mbps which is ok Usb c is additional benifit for people using slim laptops with 1 usb port

Greater than one weekFirst thing I did was drop this on the floor several times. However, its continued to work perfectly. It wasnt completely my fault, though, that I dropped it. USB-C adapter that came with it is almost impossible to insert in my Macs USB-C port. I ended up not using the adapter and instead plugging the drive into a USB port on a new hub that I bought.

> 3 dayIve only had it a couple weeks. Found it very hard to get started and finally got it working and my data backed up via a Mirror file - had to move all my docs to a Mirror file on my PC (a Mac Pro). Then it somehow got locked and my password, which I meticulously saved, does not work - cannot access my data nor does it back up any more - says folder missing. I read on one of the reviews to do a factory reset which I will try. I do not want to return the product since it does have my data on it. I cant access it but fear someone else could. Update- I plugged it into a different USB port on my laptop and it works fine again.

Greater than one weekThis is great! Copies quickly, a one MB folder was completely copied in a little over a minute! No problems at all.

> 3 dayI have had to go to snapshot only function to make it trustworthy. The software for the device often fails to recognize the computer when I plug it back in, the device itself had to be scanned and repaired, and it fails to properly update files when I activate it. Ive had other Seagate Drives that were OK. Im sure my experience isnt average for the device. I have about 35 years experience including college training in computers, software, and have continuously used a wide variety of programs/apps on multiple higher end computers and laptops. Some of my files are highly proprietary, valuable, and not reproducible other than from backup, so I need a fully dependable backup systems. Of course, I do multiple backups periodically, one other is an automatic system which to date, has been flawless. For me, this device is my least favorite ever. I do have a much earlier La Cie (ca 2005), same company, which has been great and still functions as a tertiary file cabinet.

> 3 dayI love Seagate. Been relying on them for years, to backup My data. I only had to replace My other Seagate because it fell out of compatibility with newer tech - not because it broke down. And the new one has been flawless, as well. Customer Service is responsive, friendly, helpful, and supportive. Setup was easy. Maintaining it - effortless. It works in silence, and gives Me the storage capacity I need. I love it.

07-06-2025I needed a extertnial hard drive to backup my IMAC. It only has USB-2 portals. They advertised that it was a US B-3 unit but compatable with USB-2. The problem have run into with this (and other companies) is that dont bother telling you that a USB-3 male will not plug into a USB-2 female
