Sennheiser HD 598 Special Edition Over-Ear Headphones - Black (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Great headphones. I own both these and a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50X. As far as audio quality goes, I must admit that the Technica headphones have superior bass (which makes a huge difference for the specific music that I often listen to /Rap), but these Sennheiser HD-598s are sooooo much more comfortable that I reckon Ill prefer to wear them for long durations. The audio is great, dont get me wrong, but just speaking comparatively. A minor annoyance is that the aux cord is either a ridiculous 10ft or a tiny 3ft. I loved the coiled aux cord that came with the Technicas (unfortunately, the input port is not the same size for me to share the same cord.) TLDR; BEST comfort available, EXCELLENT audio, crap cord. If I had to pick just one or the other, Id probably go Technica, solely due to the quality playing some music. Im happy having both headphones.

These are excellent headphones, perhaps the best you can get for under 20k, I got it for under 8k on a lightning deal. Bass, Mids, Highs are all perfect and well separated. The sound quality is phenomenal, if you are not used to audiophile Open Back headphones putting this one and listening to your favorite tracks will feel like sitting in a concert due to its phenomenal sound stage. This is because the ear cups arent closed, but this also means that external noise will easily leak if you are listening at low volumes. They arent meant to be used in loud environments and are for strictly home use. At higher volumes only loud sounds will leak throuh, I in fact prefer this as I would like to hear the bell, telephone, children crying etc when Im at home and not totally be oblivious to my surroundings. These are not for bassheads, the bass is present and full but isnt overblown and muddy like in Beats etc. You could bump the lower frequencies below 166 HZ between 3-5 Db and keep the pre amp at -2 to get a more satisfying sound. The velour cups are soft and you can easily wear them for hours since it rests easy on the head without applying pressure anywhere on the ears or the head. Your ears dont sweat due to the open backed design. These are among the most comfortable headphones Ive owned. The whole headphone feels very solid and premium built, Im certain it can take a lot of beating. Besides Sennheiser provides a 2 year warranty and are known for good service in India. There are two detachable cables provided, one of shorter length and 3.5 mm jack for home use and a much longer length, bigger jack for studio use, there is an extra studio-3.5 jack adapter provided too. Unfortunately a carrying case or pouch isnt provided. These are leagues above other audiophile grade headphones I own such as the ATH M50x (bit uncomfortable, small soundstage, bit too bassy), Beyerdynamic DT 770 (32ohm one is too uncomfortable, very shrill sounding) etc. I would say they are steal for anywhere below Rs 10,000 and are still worth it below Rs 14,000.

Awesome crisp sound, but the bass isnt as filled out as I would have hoped. Best for classic rock, these headphones dont do Future any justice. Would buy again.

I dont know, i came from kraken 7.1 and i must admit i dont feel to much diffrence, maybe its in the start only anyways the quality of these are great, very very comfortable headphones, they are well made and very light weight also, the cable you recive the stock one is like 3M, which is too much for me and now i need to waste more money on shorter cable

These sound great! Great headphones for audiophiles.

Crisp ,clear and detailed sound. Lack a little bit base but eveything else is great. I have used hd 518 in the past and i have to tell that hd 518 and 558 have more base but mids and highs are much more refined in hd 598s.vocals are great.soundstage is excellent. overall looks are good too.

Ive used these primarily for surround sound and gaming. Suffice to say Ive had an edge over the other gamers because of its precise surround sound capability. I could wear these for a long time (7-8 hours) and forget that Im wearing headphones because they are so comfortable. They have held up pretty well for 3 years and still going strong. I ordered 2 of these one for myself and one for my dad. Keep in mind these are not made for noise cancellation. 10/10 will buy it again but I doubt i will have to.
