Greater than one weekAfter owning the HD 558 for a few years I decided it was time to replace them. I was a little worried because of some reviews I had read on the net saying they are practically the same headphones and no noticeable difference in sound was perceived. Some even said that the drivers are identical (they are not). Heres my opinion after using them for a few days. When you put them on they feel exactly the same as the HD 558, which means they are incredibly comfortable! But thats where the similarities end. The 598s have better sound quality and accuracy than the 558 and it is noticeable even from the first song. The frequency response is wider, they are more accurate, and they have an amazingly pleasing balanced bass. The sound stage is wider and more real, which makes you feel more like you are there. But dont get me wrong, the 558s are amazingly good headphones. The point I want to get across is if you can spend the extra money by all means go for the 598s. They are better beyond a doubt.

Greater than one weekJust received it today, so i am going to give my initial overview of this product... (1) Design: I know there are a lot of people who say that the build quality of the HD 598 isnt good but I disagree to that. Sure, the material used for the product is mostly plastic but it doesnt fell cheap at all. Moreover, Sennheiser has overcome their deal-breaking issue of headband cracking so thats a plus. Also I have flexed my headphones to thier limits and I can confidently say that these headphones can surely take a beating. (2) Comfort: Now this is a place where the HD 598 truly excels across all the other over-ear headsets. I can assure you that it is by far one of the most comfortable headsets that I have ever worn and I am sure that after regular use, this headset will become even more comfortable. (3) Sound Quality: Obviously, the most important aspect of an headset is going to be its sound quality. I have tested this headset on my PC which has a Realtek ALC1150 DAC chip with 2 OP1652 amplifier chips. Now, I have only had 1 day so I was not able to test my headphones to its full potential but with what little time I have tested, I can only say that the sound is quite neutral. (i) Bass: There is not a lot of bass going with this headset, so if you are a pure basshead kind of a guy, I suggest you stay away from this device. I wont say that there isnt any bass at all, but a little bit more of it could have made it better. (ii) Mids: I have heard some vocals which use the mids quite extensively and I can say that the mids are crystal-clear on this headset. (iii) Treble: I listened to Beethovens Fur Elise and Symphony 5 on this one and the Treble sounded just fine to me. (iv) Soundstage: The soundstage of this headset is quite large on this one as it is an open back headset although it could have been a bit more accurate. Note: At the time of writing this review, I was burning my headphones, so I will update this review if any changes are there to the sound quality after burning of the headphones. So now the pros and the cons of this headset Pros: (i) Highly comfortable. (ii) Quite a good sound quality. (iii) Great Soundstage (iv) Good Design (v) Quite cheap (I got mine sealed for like $65 and at that price, it was a steal!) Cons: (i) Cant be folded (as it was meant for home and studio use) (ii) Leaks sound like hell (Expected with an open-back headset) Except for these 2 cons, I could not find any other con. I will update this review after I burn it properly and use it for about a week from now.

> 3 dayA bit better sound than the Beyerdynamic 990 pro 250 Ohms I have. However, I like the build quality and comfort of the Beyerdynamics enough that they are still preferred.

> 3 dayEl producto es una gama muy normalita de Sennheiser, y para tener esto prefiero unos más acolchados o con cancelación de ruido

> 3 dayI like these headphones, very good sound quality as long as not to heavy on bass. I use to listen to smooth jazz and some computer use. Good buy and good sound reproduction at moderate volume levels
