Sennheiser HD 600 - Audiophile Hi-Res Open Back Dynamic Headphone

It just doesnt get any better than this at this price point!

Sound Quality is incredible, and imaging is so good you can often times hear how the drummer has his kit set up. Its very close to neutral, but is the tiniest bit bright. The brightness is fine, though, as it doesnt irritate my ears. Comfort is the best ive ever experienced.

The HD600s are my fourth audiophile headphone. The previous cans were the HD265, the SR60, and the HD580. The sound from the HD580 and the HD600 are very close. The HD600, however, is a little more detailed and has a better sound stage than the HD580.

Ive been using these going on two years now and Ive gotta say the sound is amazing if youre looking for high end sound on medium end budget. The build quality is good, Ive dropped them and snagged them a few times and are still in perfect condition.

I owned a pair of Sennheiser HD60s for many years, until they recently gave up the ghost. It has long been one of the top-rated headphones on the market, so I decided to purchase the model again, especially after reading all the positive reviews. I know many readers will consider this silly and inconsequential, but first, a couple of purely cosmetic issues that dont affect performance: 1) My previous HD60s, bothered to have small decals on each side, indicating L and R, so youd know which way the phones were wired. The new HD60s have dispensed with that nicety. 2) Even more bothersome, it that the logo SENNHEISER embossed on the headband is off center, skewed way to the right. Why? And who does this? It reminds me of that Plan Ahead cartoon where the last two letters are askew and falling off the edge of the page because someone didnt plan ahead. Having the logo offset to the right like it is, is just ugly and looks really cheap. Why wouldnt it be centered?

You cannot go wrong with these phones. I have had them for probably 15 years and they are still going strong. They are not fancy looking but you will love the sound. One thing I did do which improved them somewhat was to buy a better cable. I dont mean fancy third party cables that typically cost in the neighborhood of $100. Nope, its simple. Buy the HD650 cable. It is heavier, fits the HD600 and improves the sound noticeably. For about $25 and Amazon has them. Check youtube for other comments about these wonderful cans Sever headphone testers use these as their benchmark. I was planning to replace them with something newer until I found out I already owned something better than what I probably would have replaced them with.So instead, I spent my money on something else.

I only wish there was an inline mic cable. I tried to buy a chinese one off ebay, but it didnt work.
