> 3 dayVery well made and durable!!!! I dont know how well it performs as a woodcraft or throwing tomahawk because I dont practice throwing my weapons away or use them for camp chores. The purpose of this tomahawk, for me, is to supplement my primary and other backup weapons--and it seems to be well suited for that task. It is strong, sharp and easy to wield and manipulate in combat situations. It does seem that it will also perform, as needed, as an emergency tool in the field and I have seen a lot of videos that seem to indicate that it is a very good throwing hawk as well. If you feel as though this tomahawk will fit your needs (whatever they may be), you cant go wrong by purchasing the SOG Fasthawk--as Ive indicated, it is a very well made, durable, sharp, well-balanced and high quality tomahawk.

> 3 dayVery first thoughts: Amazing. I bought this Fasthawk mainly for splitting small firewood and for my bug-out bag. Its extremely light weight (perfect for a bug-out), it splits small firewood like nobodys business, and it looks awesome. However, I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because it shipped with a loose bolt. When I use it, the axe head pivoted back and forth. This is a simple fix because I live close to a SOG warehouse, but for anyone who isnt near one it will be more of a headache. It still works fine with the loose bolt, but its annoying and probably not safe. Overall I am satisfied enough to give this 4/5 stars!

> 3 dayI am a Cold Steel fan, and really admire their quality. I also like the American Hickory handles. BUT, this tactical tomahawk is well built too !!! It throws well, and can be very, very sharp. I do have some training with different weapons, and this little baby is no slouch in that department. Its real use comes from the fact that it is almost designed to run along the Molle webbing of my Maxpedition Sitka. It comfortably sits there and wont go anywhere despite a rigorous hike. One small velcro tie, and this wont slip out accidentally - no way and no how. But the velcro strip is easily removed, and this Tomahawk deploys nicely. On dried wood, from the middle of the summer, this will service nicely. It is smaller and will require a bit more effort to get rid of a downed tree, but from a survival perspective - just perfect. I have not pressure tested the handle, but suspect it can withstand a brutish amount of force. It wont come a part on you. I bought mine on a bit of sale, and it was well worth the price. Put this on your wish list, and strike when that iron is hot !!!

> 3 dayThese are less than ideal for the average axe thrower. They will stick with some practice, and the axe heads are tough and sharp, but the handles are much more fragile than expected. I have owned a SOG tomahawk for about 8 years and thrown it thousands of times, even hit it with other axes while it was already in the target. The handle is chipped and gouged and the head has taken a beating. It is still far superior to these. The first handle handle snapped after 40 or 50 throws, just by hitting the target. The second one hasnt snapped yet, but it has a crack running through it after maybe 100 to 150 throws. I bought these because I expected the same quality and longevity from them as the single more expensive axe SOG sells. That simply isnt the case here.

Greater than one weekI honestly didnt expect much from this tomahawk at first but it took me by surprise. I live around a forest with big hard trees and i just love to throw this thing around and have it stick on them. There is obviously a technique to throwing an axe and should be well practiced if you plan on owning one. Youll be able to use this axe for practice, just look up the technique and be consistant. I already got my sister to get the target under 10 minutes just by showing her proper technique in throwing it. Because if you dont practice then youll be disappointed in the product when really its your skill. I honestly thought it would have been breaking or chipping due to how cheap it was and how hard it hits the handle and other parts of the axe when you miss a target, but the thing is like rock solid and durable. Shoot, if you dont hit the tree with the blade and the handle hits it, best believe itll make a nice size dent on the tree (or what ever target you use) and still not have a scratch or much on it, it is that hard. Very happy with this purchase.

06-06-2025Wow, was I impressed with this one. This is an awesome little tool. Almost shaving sharp right out of the package. I love the look of this model with the contrast between the shiny steel and the black handle. I plan on taking this with me backpacking, to handle light wood processing and to ward off the larger black bears and mountain lions. Now, I am unstoppable! I have tested this out and it worked fantastic for chopping up some large dead branches up to 4 or 5 inches thick. The weight of the hawk is just right. Feels light weight, but substantial enough to do its job. I opted for the hard quick release sheath, so I can carry it on my belt for easy access, and now Im bad to the bone. I wouldnt mess with me, even if I was a rabid honey badger.

10-06-2025Pros: Comes VERY sharp for an axe. It can drive tent stakes and such using the sides. About as lightweight as it gets for a usable tool. Cons: Not full tang, but handle has held up. Sheath is cumbersome and belt loop sucks. Protects the edge and thats about it. Dont try to wear it, just pack it. Overall: If you are going nearly lightweight long trek camping, this is probably the best option for a chopping tool. It isnt a hammer but can do lighter duty pounding on its sides. I have yet to have any handle problems, but have my fingers crossed. If you just need something different than a big knife, I strongly suggest this.

> 3 dayAs other pointed out: serious burring on the blade from shipping this right off the press that just finished cutting some other metals. the rest is ok for the money but it is basically one of those purchases that you need to do something else with it to make it worthwhile.

> 3 dayThe only bad thing about this is the cover. I ordered a better one from the company. The cover it comes with is just a bad design that can hurt you if you dont pay attention.
