> 3 dayThese tomahawks are lightweight, easy to throw and develop consistent throws at multiple distances, and are flawless in tactical design in my opinion. The beard drops low enough that these can be used in close quarters protecting the knuckles and can quickly develop into short to medium range threat. Or vice versa if you carry a pair. They are so lightweight and well profiled they conceal easily about your person. As far as the complaints about the handle I think it’s just bad luck. I have a set of three dedicated to just throwing. I have hit or knicked the handle multiple times grouping shots and it still takes a beating. A cheap file set will help with a quick easy sharpening tool and should be used to flatten and sharpen the rear spike. This axe is almost impossible to drop with a bit of practice. You can cleanly stick the axe and control the angle with good wrist control. Reverse grip throws provide a reliable spike first hit that slam the handle upwards and forwards. If used defensively any shot center mass with a reverse grip is going to lodge in the chest or lungs and deliver a handle strike to the face. This could also easily be used for small game. Even a “missed” throw can still deliver tremendous impact. The complaints about the handle are just bad luck. They are actually my favorite aspect of the weapon. I have intentionally thrown this tomahawk to land in a such a way that the handle literally smacks the target every time. They’re basically bullet proof. 6/5 on quality, design, and consistency in the end user products. Some basic maintenance such as sharpening is an obvious must with any blade. I found that I increased the performance when I sanded down the acute edges on the non cutting surfaces and slightly reprofiling the skull crusher. A good quick sanding on the handle in between use keeps the handle smooth yet still grippy and it releases like butter every time. I don’t know I’ve bought a lot of stuff from Amazon and I basically never leave reviews. These are the real deal in every aspect no matter your intended purpose.

> 3 dayI ordered the Fasthawk for a bed side go-to defense tool. I was surprised and a little disappointed by the small size when it arrived. I have hammers that are bigger. In fact I ended up ordering the full size Tomahawk from Sog as well. It just arrived. I like the larger size but it is MUCH heavier than the fasthawk. I now appreciate how quick and nimble the fast hawk is. For tight hallway fights, give me a fasthawk. For close combat with some room to dance...give me the full size tomahawk. Btw, the handle is a bit slick. Only disappointment in design. It will work though.

Greater than one weekLoved it as soon as I got it out of the package. It is well built, sturdy, and has a surprising wight to it while still being very small. Perfect for carrying around while walking through the wilderness, or around town for protection (make sure it is legal in your home state first) As I said earlier, this little hawk packs a punch, and was still smaller than I imagined. Very portable! Not at all bulk or uncomfortable when walking around with it on your belt. The sheath it comes with fits very tight on my belt. Depending on what you are doing, however, the buttons underneath can pop open and the hawk falls right out. This only happened when I was doing something more impractical though, like climbing a tree or jumping a wall. I think in most cases it will stay closed, but even if it doesnt, this little guy can be easily hung from your belt. A must buy for anyone who is looking for a smaller, faster tomahawk than you normally find.

> 3 dayI purchased these for my sons as gifts and ended up buying one myself. you can get stainless in black or polished. The polished stainless is more visible in the woods which can be good or bad depending on what you are doing. Throwing for fun... good. hunting... bad. although if its in your pack or sheath while hunting not a problem. There are a thousand uses for these at camp. the are EXCELLENT for opening the chest cavity on a large deer. It is a blast to set up a log and practice throwing. Very durable. They come to hunting camp with us every year. Fast Hawk is the smaller version. I use both depending on the job but the Fast Hawk is smaller and lighter so It would be my pick if i had to choose.

Greater than one weekItem did not resemble picture. Instead it had a plastic handle, instead of metal as depicted in picture.

> 3 dayIm so glad that I decided to buy 2 more SOG hawks after purchasing my initial single tactical tomahawk. I didnt want the fast-hawk until i saw the size of the Tac Hawk, and was happily surprised with it. Now that the fast-hawk arrived(packaged along with a voodoo, much recommended that you buy both together simultaneously, theyre small enough in length to be put in the same size smaller amazon box) Im so pleased with it that cant imagine not having it. Great weight, not too heavy, not too light, and the quality on this polished piece is superb. China made or not, my next review will tell all as to whether or not these China originated new products hold up to use. I have not put this to the field test yet, but my expectations are that it will live up to and exceed everything I could ever want out of it. Thanks SOG & thanks Amazon for making my purchase a no-brainer. Cant wait to throw this bad puppy at some logs!

> 3 dayi cannot say enough good things about this thing. i got it as an impulse buy and it arrived 3 days earlier than expected and out of the box i was more than impressed. sog did an excellent job making sure no damage came to this thing and its razor sharp out of box, but its not as big as the sog tactical tomahawk so keep that in mind. its lightwieght and very sturdy. it comes with a sort of sealant on the blade so if it looks a little odd keep in mind that its well protected. i recommend getting the hard plastic sheath for it because the nylon sheath that it comes with isnt all that great and makes for difficulty if you want fast removal. other than that this is the best tomahawk i own and i highly recommend getting it or the larger tactical version.

> 3 dayBought this for throwing practice, never imagining that it would save my life from rampaging meth-heads. While I was aware my neighborhood had gone downhill over the years, I was somewhat shocked that a meth-head burst through my door looking for something to loot. Luckily, my computer desk is near the front door and I had been playing with this, so it was laying nearby. One look at a disheveled gamer wearing only shorts and wielding a tactical hatchet quickly sent them on their way with a screech, a yowl and a puff of bad breath. They left so quickly it resembled a cartoon where characters disappear in a cloud of dust, only this dust stank of BO and unwashed dreadlocks. Thumbs Up!

> 3 dayAs other pointed out: serious burring on the blade from shipping this right off the press that just finished cutting some other metals. the rest is ok for the money but it is basically one of those purchases that you need to do something else with it to make it worthwhile.
