> 3 dayI love this thing!! I am very pleased with my purchase! The quality of build is better than expected. I read some reviews that stated the head had come loose after multiple uses... This one has not done this to me. I imagine if it did come loose (and this fix has been mentioned) it is not the build quality, its the fact that the hex screws come loose. I would and I havent yet, put threadlock on them if you are concerned about being surrounded by bears in the woods and only have a SOG Tomahawk to defend yourself. If thats the case, then I suggest Bear Repellent and a .44 Magnum and save the Tomahawk for the tree out front at your neighbors house. This SOG has been one of my FAVORITE impulse buys--

Greater than one weekI first bought this hawk from another source primarily as a throwing hawk and as a light survival hawk for my wifes kit. It excels as a throwing hawk and is almost indestructible Very light and easy to use and exceeds in capability for what you would expect from a tool this size. Best buy on the market for a throwing/survival hawk. I was so impressed I bought another as a gift to a friend two days after my first one arrived. Im a retired firefighter with 28 years of service and 18 years of service as a LEO in various capacities. I highly recommend this hawk as an addition to any firefighters utility belt, manys the time I could have used it and having this tool in a squad car could save many lives on emergency scenes where minor extrication is needed fast and the police arrive first, and they almost always do..

Greater than one weekUnfortunately mine came with what looked like a resealed package. If it was just a damaged package I would of left it at that. But the blade Seemed used from out of the package. Other than needing a really good sharpening and cleaning. I guess its fine. But I was disappointed. Updated: I sharpened the blade, and I put some O rings in the grip slots and that gives it just the right amount of traction on my opinion. So Im bumping it to 4 stars because after that it actually became a tool I use to trim/chop up my front cactus which is huge and has spikes. But Im able to use the back spike to drag those spikey trunks from where I cut them to the curb. So not bad at all. Just needed initial blade care in my case.

> 3 dayI bought this hawk for a thrower. I wanted a light, but forgiving hawk and the SOG has lived up to my expectations. I have struck trees, bricks and the ground many times and this tool holds up well. I recommend this hawk to throwers of all skill levels. All in all just a really nice tomahawk.

> 3 dayI carry and use axes almost all the time. This one is shorter and smaller and lighter than any I have ever carried. It should be great for hiking or hunting as well as fire and bushcraft. It is made in China but seems to be very well made and of a fairly hard stainless steel which takes an edge easily but also seems to hold it better than many stainless knives and tools. I am pleased and will substitute this in my hiking bag for the twice as heavy 19 tomahawk I have been using. The only caveat to buyers is look at the overall length and notice that it is shorter (at 12 3/4 OA) and provides less leverage than what you might have been using.

> 3 dayI will start out by saying I am a woman and I got this for a few different reasons. One, I have always been interested in non-firearm weapons. I love shooting a bow, so I figured throwing was next in line Two, I often have branches falling in my yard that need to be cut up to put in my fire pit. I have a rather heavy hatchet, but my hand and arm gets tired from it almost immediately. A big man arm and hand would be fine for it, but I am not a man, so the lighter weight of this item appealed to me. I looked at the heavier version, but my friend has one and it immediately felt too big and heavy in my hand. I am really glad I got the 19oz fasthawk. Not only does it slice through my fallen branches like a charm, but my hand and arm dont hurt! When I first went to practice throwing it, I found it light and easy to hold and throw. I quickly became successful at getting it within 6 of my target and lodging the blade or pick into it (a couple trees, and a sawed off stump turned on its side) Even after about 50 throws my arm didnt get tired. The real exercise there is walking to and from your target, haha. Throwing it is really satisfying. You hear the sound of it spinning in the air, and the thunk as is lodges in your target (a hollow dead tree is nice) I got the silver over the black because its easier to find when you miss. They say the black is better if you dont want an enemy to see the reflection. That wasnt an issue to me, as I hopefully will never be using this against a person!! Either way, Ive been leaving it next to my bed in case of a break in (if my 70lb pit bull doesnt chase them off first)

> 3 dayI honestly didnt expect much from this tomahawk at first but it took me by surprise. I live around a forest with big hard trees and i just love to throw this thing around and have it stick on them. There is obviously a technique to throwing an axe and should be well practiced if you plan on owning one. Youll be able to use this axe for practice, just look up the technique and be consistant. I already got my sister to get the target under 10 minutes just by showing her proper technique in throwing it. Because if you dont practice then youll be disappointed in the product when really its your skill. I honestly thought it would have been breaking or chipping due to how cheap it was and how hard it hits the handle and other parts of the axe when you miss a target, but the thing is like rock solid and durable. Shoot, if you dont hit the tree with the blade and the handle hits it, best believe itll make a nice size dent on the tree (or what ever target you use) and still not have a scratch or much on it, it is that hard. Very happy with this purchase.

> 3 dayReceived in the mail today. I am really happy with the size of this item. I already own the Tact Hawk and its great for cutting and pounding but too big to trow well and carry around on my belt. I was able to fit my belt through the loop on the sheath. Its tight but will stretch in time for a perfect fit. The item carries very well close to the hip and the length of the handle is small enough not to interfere when walking around. The cutting edge is much smaller on the fast hawk as opposed to the tact hawk. If you want to cut down trees get the tact hawk. If you want to carry the thing around with you and cut smaller branches get the fast hawk.

> 3 dayI own several SOG knives and have never been disappointed. So, I was somewhat surprised and a little disappointed with the size of the hatchet head. It’s smaller than I anticipated never having seen one in the flesh. Other than that, it is typical SOG quality. The hatchet is very sharp out of the box, the handle is sturdy and the point opposite the hatchet will certainly break windows as well as heads. I have not had the opportunity to throw it yet, so can’t speak to that. Honestly, I bought it to carry in my vehicle as a self defense tool while camping in the wild. It is in that role I wish the head was larger. Overall, I’m happy with it and will keep it. Oh, and the nylon cover doesn’t suck!
