The internet at my house is unreliable. Days of outages in March 2023. So counting on cloud based tools is a non-starter. These plugs are easy to open up, reflash with Tasmota software, and control through a website hosted on each plug, or via an MQTT server. Im happy with the plug hardware being easy to update, and happy with the new software.

These were not so easily added to the Alexa controlled system. Instructions did not track with the way I had to install them. The plug is large and the light/button, instead of being on the front, is on the side which means horizontal outlets, depending on orientation, may make it impossible to see the status light.

I just needed good, wireless devices that allow intelligent, accurate monitoring of electricity consumed by a device. This device was the epitome of disappointment. During the WiFi setup (2.4 GHz), it insists on getting your LOCATION INFORMATION. No thanks. AND you have to create an account to use them. NO THANKS AGAIN. No iPad specific app, only iPhone. Three strikes. Done. No more. For example… To pair, the blue LED blinks 2 dots and 1 dash. Then press the button for 5 seconds and it changes to… 2 dots and a dash… AGAIN. This is 2022, I have no need to be proficient in Morse Code. These things are not even heavy enough to be used for paperweights. I just wasted $20. You have been warned.

Easy to pair and get it working. Alexa, lights on, Alexa lights off! This plug is very handy! I am going to use it for my Christmas tree when its time! Looking forward to not having to struggle with the outlet each night.

My intended goal for purchasing a dozen of these ugs was to integrate them with Home Assistant. I was able to successfully integrate them without too much fuss. The plugs work as designed and advertised. Additionally, I am able to either use the eWeLink app to see the each plugs overall power usage and control each plug. I plan on flashing these with ESPHome firmware so I reduce the need to rely on the Sonoff cloud. These plugs do have a LAN Mode option which enables them to reduce the need for the cloud, which I really liked. Overall, plugs are a 9/10 on my rating.

Using them with Alexa, very reliable, never had a failure/need of reset. Easy setup and Alexa integration with the ewlink app. In the ewlink app you can turn on some features that Alexa do not have but still works with Alexa, additional bonus. E.g automatically turn off the device after xxx time has lapsed since power on, power on state, timers and loop timers. Very useful for my setup, controlling a water pump for my house remotely.

Was a little difficult to pair with Alexa, had to upgrade eWelink. So far happy with it.
