> 3 dayBest thing about this device is the ability to reflash with Tasmota firmware which then works with both HomeAssistant and MQTT based home control and automation systems. You can utilize one system for power monitoring and the other for control once the unit has been flashed. Very good support by the community for using the part.

> 3 dayI chose these specifically for the history and current-usage software. And also because they allow up to 1800w of power - so I can use them to track space-heater usage! App works great and was super easy to set up. Plugs have an on/off button right on them, giving you manual control when you don’t have the app. Basically same price as comparable models, so worth it for the extra electricity capacity and the app’s UI!

> 3 dayThis is a warning to anyone who wants to purchase this that they should consider the App Store reviews for the required app to run these. At the time of writing this, eWeLink-Smart Home has a 2.8 star rating plagued with bugs and all kinds of issues. This app is required to use this device and you need to have an account with them in order to link to your Google Home so when considering this product I highly suggest you consider the App rating. There is also a ton of privacy issues associated as it requires you send your location information, other data, home network access, and identifiers in order to create an account which is your email address. It is also not clear who I am sending this data to, or why it needs persistent location data. This is a Sonoff product that requires an eWeLink app which has the support email going to Shenzhen Cool House Technology Co., Ltd. When clicking on the Privacy Policy on the app store it doesnt actually go anywhere and just takes you to a home page that is in another language and when translated has no links to the Privacy Policy. Not a product I would want running inside my home network.

> 3 daySturdy plugs with energy monitoring. As a bonus, they can be very easily reflashed with tasmota or esphome firmware in case you dont trust the cloud and want to control plugs from your local network.

Greater than one weekI first bought SwitchBot smart plugs thinking they would work with the Core SwitchBot integration with Home-Assistant, extremely disappointed in not only the broken integration, but also the terms of service from a company that has had a lot of recent YouTube praise. Unfortunately, it just shows the known ignorance and total abandonment of values in the name of convenience... Enter HACS and Sonoff; While Sonoff is also doing some data mining it is possible to run the S31 Smart Plugs completely local without the app or the cloud using HACS on Home-Assistant with no fooling with jumpers or fussing with flashing. Several recent HA forum posts and YouTube videos cover the procedure, just look for the most current so you can follow along more easily since the recent changes. Also, Stay away from the S40 if you use Home-Assistant. S31 is the way to go. Deducted a star for the shady terms of service that are getting all too common with IoT products. Otherwise, it would be 5 stars.

> 3 dayTried for days to pair and almost returned them. Most only searches so older versions of the app and the app is not intuitive at all. It is very picky with how your wifi is set up. The Name(ssid) and passwords Can Not have any spaces or special characters. This was a challenge because we are not able to change these without have to re setup all our other devices. Some are security cameras that are very difficult to get to (26 high and 1/4 mile from our router). Our router is only 2.4ghz but the app kept acting as though we were trying to connect to a 5ghz router. Ultimately we had to add a Guest Account named Letters only and set the password with the same restrictions (which makes for a very weak password). Once paired...whew, It seems to be working. The app does Not give the level of detail I was hoping for. It only provides total daily power usage or instantaneous usage. I wanted to see what time the refrigerator defrost heater came on, for how long and how much power it used but the app doesnt do this. With all this considered it is a good value and we may even buy more now that we are able to pair them. One star deducted due to the app, not the switch itself. Although, if the devices continues to work well over time without loosing connectivity or failing we will update to full 5 stars. We were able to determine the fridge pulls about 1amp/120watts while the compressor is running and a total usage of about 0.9kw over 24hrs. The hair drying on high heat and fan pulls over 13amps/1600watts which is almost the max rating of the device. Be careful not to overload. Only ran for a moment so cant speak to how long it can handle this level of current draw. Lastly the basic math calculation is not 100% accurate which should be very easy to accomplish. Volts x Amps = Watts. The device measures the amps and the volts and calculates the watts. They were reasonably close but not perfect. See image attached, should be 126 watts.

> 3 dayThe S40 brings a new elegant and a little design to the previous one. It is amazing what you can do with the power consumption capabilities. And the best of all is the automatic turn off when there is an overload to protect the connected device. All of its smart options are as expected, they are even better when you have other Sonoff products. For example, I can turn on my wall plug when I turn on my light switch and more, just with the app. Overall, it is an incredible product and a must have in your smart house.

> 3 dayWorks for medium to large size appliances, but smaller devices that use 5V power (most USB style devices or small devices), do not register on the devices power monitor. It goes to 0.1W, so if your device uses 1W or less, its near impossible to get a positive this device is definitely using power answer from the power monitor data (for use in home automation). All that being said, the connectivity and setup was very solid.
