As a portrait artist this is my preferred pencil set

Im new to drawing, but on my many trips to hobby lobby I have acquired quite a few pencils. I like this brand of pencils the best so far. And when I saw that they made a set going from 10H-12B I knew I had to have it. Definitely recommend!

I love to draw and sketch with these pencils, but I always dread opening the case because it gives me elementary school flashbacks. You know how pencil sharpeners always had that nasty shavings smell? That’s what the case for these smells like. It is not pleasant at all, but it’s not enough to make me not enjoy the heck out of these pencils.

Definitely a great value for the money. The set is nice the container might not be completely effective but if youre on a stable surface it should not be a problem the shades are good from light to dark and you have to take into account that the light ones will fade less fast then the dark so be gentle with your dark pencils its very smooth so you dont have to put too much force into it I think its great for artists of all levels.

Everyone has their personal preferences when it comes to art supplies. If you ask around, you will find that the Mars Lumograph graphite pencils have a large and devoted following. Very high quality -- gotta love made-in-Germany precision and attention to detail. Leads are smooth with no gritty/scratchy-little surprises in the lead as can be the case with some pencils. The included metal storage case is a nice touch, especially for on-the-go protection. This set of 12 pencils contains a very useful range of lead densities from harder through softer.

Pro: Nice quality. Good range of light-dark, making this great for both base sketches and adding detail. Came pre-sharpened which is great if youre like me and super excited to use them. Con: Aside from my tin arriving dented, there are no cons.

I ordered two different types of drawing pencils. One had a case and this set had more pencils soft and hardness levels. These are have a higher quaility behind them and easier to erase marks even in some of the soft levels. Love the quality of these.

I have drawn for years mostly with mechanical pencils because I hated not having a consistent sharp point and I hated the scratchy feeling of the hard graphite wood pencils. I never would have thought that you would gain much from a high quality wood pencil vs. a less expensive pencil. It is just wood and graphite, right? Not exactly. These pencils are better. The harder H through H4 feel hard, but they dont have the irritating rough spots of clay that suddenly scratch the paper. I also found that with a small quality pencil sharpener like the Alvin Brass Bullet Sharpener, getting a sharp point is just a matter of a few twists of the pencil. I was use to those plastic low quality pencil sharpeners that seemed to split the wood or would put blisters on your fingers from twisting so hard. As a result I would use an electric pencil sharpener that eats too much of your expensive pencils. I recommend using a small handheld quality sharpener and your pencils will last a lot longer. All in all, high quality pencils, a little more expensive, but well worth it and dont forget to get a high quality handheld pencil sharpener.
