I want to learn how to sketch so when I looked at all the pencils on offer, the reviews indicated that this is the best brand. When my order arrived and my husband saw them, he said virtually all the students at the art college where he teaches biology use this brand, so I chose well. Ive just started using them and am very pleased. Love the metal container, which will keep the pencils in good shape when I travel with them.

I have the Mars Black and they are smoother but sometimes the black doesnt mesh with the lighter grades. So I thought I would get around to giving these a try. Several of the pencils in the set have been hard to sharpen. Frustrating to have them keep breaking before you even get to use them. I tried several different sharpeners and it made no difference. Secondly a couple of the pencils actually smell unpleasant when sharpening them. I love pencils and have lots of brands so this was kind of surprising the smell of the wood. A couple of the pencils are scratchy too - easily digging lines into the paper. (My Prismas dont do that even in the lightest grades). However after adjusting for that they were ok drawing a picture. Not fabulous however.

Great quality pencils, with its own set of pros and cons. Use this if you want to make clear consistent lines that you are confident of. Since it is mixed with carbon instead of being pure graphite it not have that shine that appears with regular graphite pencils when you shine light directly on it. But also because of the carbon this makes the pencil slightly harder to erase with than regular graphite pencils. Using eraser on the darker pencils can actually smudge instead of completely erasing so be careful. I recommend using lighter quality pencils like 2H or 4H for initial sketching before using 2B, 4B, 6B, or 8B for drawing and rendering the picture. Useful addition for any artist.

Son buenos lápices pero ni el 8b llega a un negro absoluto

I bought these for a drawing class because that is what the professor suggested. They are much higher quality than the pencils I had before.

Im giving this a three because personally i just dont feel the connection with them while in use...and plus sometimes buying things like these online the quality is never the same with so many buyers and different sellers cause Ive bought this brand before and I was impressed and less monry...now I spend more money and they arent up to par as u would think...my advice go to an actual hobby store so u how the real feels and u know its real

Of all the pencils I have tried, these are my favorite. I love the case, too. Some cases are constantly falling open and spilling contents everywhere and this case stays closed in my bag. Great quality. Im pleased.

Love these drawing pencils! I bought a different set from the store, horrible, waste of money. These Staedtler drawing pencils blend beautifully, sharpen to a fine point, and have a wonderful range of tones. I had another set from years ago that I lost, and have always been extremely satisfied. I bought a small two hole hand sharpener of the same brand, and it works much better than the crank handle sharpener Ive been using for the past 60 years. I highly recommend these drawing pencils, and I will purchase again as needed. Love the tin, too.
