Strathmore 566-5 500 Series Hardbound Mixed Media Art Journal, 5.5 x 8.5, White, 32 Count

Just got it today..I did loads of shopping around to make sure I was getting a thick sketch book, learning the difference between sheets and pages. Was expecting a 192 sheets which wouldve been 384 pages. When it arrived, it says on the book 192 pages, so it has 96 sheets. Bit of a bum but Ill keep it. Would help if they included some side pictures atleast, just buyer beware. Aside from that, it looks nice enough.

Able to use paints, gesso, ink, etc. without much warping of the pages.

Arrived completely covered in greasy fingerprint. It looks like someone ate a cheeseburger and then rubbed their hands all over this book.

I bought this based on the ratings by reviews from others. Not sure why this journal has such a high rating. I like the cover. Thats it. Nothing else to like. First of all, the journal does not open flat which is a huge annoyance. Second, the paper quality is awful. It has a very noticeable mechanical pattern and the watercolor (professional grade) behaves as on a very cheap paper. Third, the backside is much worse than the other making painting on both sides of the journal not a good option. I would not buy this again and would not recommend to anyone either.

Great product

This is a perfect product for art journaling where a person wants to use wet media like watercolor as well as paper collage, oil pastels, etc. It is 140 lb. paper. While the smaller size of this journal is workable, my last one was 5x7 with a vertical orientation. The binding is strong and I havent had pages come loose. This journal is workable.

I LOVEEE THIS JOURNAL SO MUCH. it never bleeds and theres so much space to draw on!

Daughter is a budding artist, very young but she did her homework on this pad and she said it’s GREAT and she wishes I invested in this for her sooner. Her art pens, liners etc, work beautifully on this pad with no bleeding and her tools work smoothly on the paper, will be having to purchase another one very soon.
