> 3 dayThis was a great calculator! I used it for so many classes through out college. I am writing the review years later but frankly it has been a wonderful calculator and I still find it working like if it was brand new. Pros: Lightweight Great color scheme Ability to use the 2nd function button to get even more utility out of the calculator Very easy to use The back has a card that shows you basic operations as a reminder The tracking button is super useful for searching through your history to see the old work you did or to copy and paste it in case you made a mistake somewhere along the way (very useful for math like calculus) The screen is very good quality and it makes it easy to see The battery life is amazing! It lasted me years of extensive use before ever needing to replace them Cons: No cons aside from it is not a graphing calculator but if that is not what you need, this is a calculator I highly recommend!

> 3 dayI coach students who take the ACT, SAT, GED/HiSET, DAT, and MCAT, and I own 3 Texas Instruments calculators: TI 36X Pro, TI-84 Plus CE, and the TI-30XS (item being reviewed). I also taught High School Math (9 - 12). While the T1-84 Plus CE has loads of function, the TI-30XS is the easiest to learn and use. It is perfect for the ACT and GED/HiSET Math. The TI-36X Pro is nice, but you can execute the same functions with less steps using the TI-30XS. If you are majoring in Math or any fields that require complex calculations/graphing and plan to keep your calculator until grad school and beyond, the TI-84 Plus CE ($150.00) is a good choice. But, if you need a clean and simple calculator for ACT, SAT, GED/HiSET Math, save some cash and get the TI-30XS. You wont regret it.

05-06-2025I am using this calculator for my Finance class for my Masters Degree which by the way is an approved and required calculator by the University for this class due to the 5 white buttons we are using, and it does not COMPLETELY clear out your work. Professors even mention you have to actually RESET the entire calculator AFTER every problem. It continuously gives you different numbers when entering the same numbers in an equation even after resetting. Trying to solve mile long equations with this calculator is beyond frustrating and is causing students who use this calculator to fail their proctored exams. Horrible technology!!!

> 3 dayI had a TI-nspire before hand, but upon entering pharmacy school, they dont allow calculators that are basically computers. So I needed one that was consistent with what the NAPLEX allows for test taking. I chose this one because of the multiview feature which is very nice (I like being able to see the prev. calculation that I just did). Overall 10/10 buy it

> 3 dayIf you need a calculator and you are looking for a good price, this is a calculator that you need. I was struggling in math and I needed ones to break down fractions easily and this calculator has it. Highly suggest buying if you are a student, for a child, etc.

> 3 dayBelow is the review Id written before. Its been a few months since I used this calculator so Im going to forget some things. But I have to take back something I said about it regarding exact answers & adjust my rating as well. The key just above the enter key (<>) will give an exact answer if used at the end of your entry. So that complaint is mostly gone. Id like to be able to set a mode where this is the default behavior, but the button will do in a pinch. But I still scratch my head at programming the calculator to return exactly what you give it in that respect. It isnt intuitive. But I think I was unfair in my rating before so I wanted to update. I decided to keep the calculator around to do personal accounting & random calculations on Summer break. It has worked out very well for that & the larger display lets me look at a few lines at once. The form factor and weight are desirable compared to the more powerful calculator. For its intent, its a solid little piece. It just has little items that differ enough from the TI graphing calculators to add frustration. For me anyway. I wont use it again in class or on tests unless forced. I may carry it as a small, light backup, but it will be a last resort. Snip: To give an example, if I give this calculator the task of computing 2 root 2, it gives me back 2 root 2 as an answer. In order to get beyond something I already knew, I have to do something like 2.000000000000000000001 root 2. Thats pretty annoying and clutters the screen. I and a few others have tried working through all the settings & cant get out of this mode. Furthermore, it only does it when it feels like it. As this is the ONLY calculator Im allowed to use in calc-based physics, I find this deeply annoying - so much that I cant bring myself to muster another star to keep the lone one company. Other than that, I appreciate that its laid out somewhat like the 84 & 89. The solar thing is nice & it doesnt take up much room. But the little niggles are so aggravating that unless Im in an exam, I have my 89 sitting right next to this one at all times...only use it so I know whats gonna happen to me on exams. After this series of classes, I suspect I may use some physics to destroy this thing properly.

> 3 dayI like that when this calculator reduces fractions it puts them in the same form that they were inputted. For example, if you put in 21/6 and hit enter, it puts 7/2, not 3 1/2 like some calculators do. You can then use another button if you need the mixed number instead of the improper fraction.
