07-06-2025I would give this Toshiba external hard drive a six, but you can only give it a five. The Toshiba external hard drive comes with two different plugs. It comes with a USB-C and a USB plug. This will hook up to older computers, and newer computers. I have a new Mac Book Pro, and had no problem hooking it up to Time Machine. It has a 1 Tb hard drive, which should last for a long time. I would differently recommend this hard drive to anyone who needs to back uo their computer

> 3 dayThis is sold on Amazon as a solid state portable drive, but while it is indeed portable, this is not a solid state drive. it vibrates like an ordinary external hard disk, and Indeed, there is no reference to a solid state characteristic on either the packaging, the insert or the disk itself. This is clearly mislabeled.

> 3 dayI use this for back up of my laptop. It’s double the 1 MG hard drive that I had before and very much smaller with double the capacity at a very reasonable price. So far, I’m very happy with it.

Greater than one weekI purchased the 2TB version of this drive. I currently use a MacBook Pro for work, and both Windows and Linux for personal use. After a bit of “tweaking” I was able to re-partition the drive to prove a Time-capsule drive for Mac, as well as “data” partitions for Max and Windows/Linux.. The drive works great otherwise. So plug and forget for the most part. I’ve only got two real issues, and both of those are actually pretty minor: 1. I wish there was a power button on it. Yes, I can disconnect when not in use, but it would be nice to leave it plugged in and just turn off when not actually using it. 2. The blue powered/activity light is freakishly bright! Like, REALLY bright, to the point where I need to cover it, or position it somewhere that the light is blocked. It is really, really distracting! Those are really just nitpicking, though. If you want a great portable drive that is fast, connects easy, csuper fast and great storage capacity, the I highly recommend this, whether you need it for extra storage or backup. The drive does come with both IuSB-A and USB-C cables, so you don’t have to go looking for cables. I am using USB-C, and I can’t complain about the speed at all. Highly recommended!

06-06-2025I have had it for seen months when it suddenly stopped working mid-update. I hear a sound like its trying but it never appears as being installed. Disappointed.

Greater than one weekI purchased this rather than less expensive options because it was listed as a solid state drive - but it is not! I think this is highly problematic

> 3 dayI have three of these I use and they are lightweight and work like a champ. Will even connect to phone and tablet BUT be careful as they draw power from those devices. I would love to see something like this with a self contained rechargeable power supply. More than adequate for my purposes. Would recommend.
