Greater than one weekI purchased this external hard drive to back up my Macbook Air 2000. Rather than purchase a lower-priced item that would require reformating for a Mac, I upgraded to the Canvio Flex. It worked perfectly. I didnt have to reformat and the cable fit my Mac perfectly. I logged into Macs Time Machine and it was seamless. Great product.

> 3 dayI use this for Time Machine backups on my Mac. It’s fast, stays cool, and is unobtrusive. 4TB capacity is plenty for me. Just right!

> 3 dayI was excited about being able to use this drive on our several Macbooks and my work PC, but buy, what a nightmare! I started making copies of several very large iphoto libraries, and picture folders I had accumulated on a MAc formatted Seagate USB Drive, would leave the computer unnatended (it would take several hours to download these 5 to 10 GB files from another drive connected to the Mac) and in more occasions than I could count, I would return and see a message on the Macs screen that the drive was not ejected properly. I found the had way that this error would render the drive unrecognizable by the Mac, which required me to connect it to my Windows notebook to repair the drive, then start everything all over again. ( then error, repeat, error, repeat...) But I was very determined to finish family picture backups and I endured through it. This drive is now so slow that it is basically useless now and these countless failed attempts took so long to conclude my backups that I cant even return it to the vendor anymore. I just bought a MyCloud EX2 Ultra NAS, which I should have done from the git go. This past Sunday (04/04) night I connected the drive to my Mac to pull the backups from it to the NAS and the backup of just 1.42TB concluded this morning (Wednesday, 04/07 ). Is that acceptable to ANYONE? Dont waste your money on this slow drive, you will be stuck with a useless silver colored paper weight.

> 3 dayThis portable hard drive is so much smaller than my ancient one, and its great! I love how it powers up just being connected to the computer; and doesnt need a separate electrical connection. I got the 1TB drive for my new M1 iMac. I was worried about connecting to a Mac, but I had no issues whatsoever. Ive included a couple of pics to show what I had to do: choose the hard drive from the list so this one is now default, and then erase the Toshiba drive so it could be formatted to work with TimeMachine (there was nothing on it to begin with since it was brand new, so erasing was easy). After that everything proceeded as usual for a backup. It took about 1 1/2 hours to do the initial backup of the entire computer (around 500GB). I am super pleased with this purchase and love how easy it is to use.
