My grandkids, 4-8 years old, loved this. Surprisingly, not that messy, because of the individual bottles. Be sure to wear gloves. I recommend using other gloves though. The ones included are too big and clumsy. My six kids made 3 T-shirts each. They loved the unveiling as we unrolled them to reveal the design. I highly recommend using within a day or two. Colors definitely lose potency. They do get lighter as they are worn and washed, but they still look nice. Is there a way to make them more colorfast? I thought of heat setting them in the dryer but didnt want to stain my drier.

This is so easy! No need for any soda ash. I even did them dry so the dye would really take with bold colors. You just add water to the dye and the bottles have colored tops so you know which color is which. Came with lots of gloves, tons of rubber bands, and a great instruction sheet with lots of ideas. Shirts turned out fantastic! Very happy. Only thing that is questionable is that the replacement dye packs are $35 on Amazon, so much more than the kit itself. Why?

Love these! My only complaint is that they dont tell you which bottles are doubles. You can tell once you fill the bottles but it would be nice to know before you fill them.

I am a teacher and got 9 of these kits through a DonorsChoose project (through Amazon) to dye 125 shirts for our field day event. These kits were even better than I expected, they come with a big clear plastic cover, tons of rubber bands, gloves, and bottles with pre measured dye. All we had to do was fill the bottles with regular tap water. A bunch of other teachers and kids helped and we had a blast doing this. We were able to do more shirts with each kit than expected and didnt even have to use them all. We rinsed, washed, and dryed them after letting them sit over the weekend. They came out super vibrant. (We did not pre wash them before hand). I did some for myself and have washed them several times and there has been no fading yet. The best part about this kit is that it comes with such a huge variety of colors. I am sure I will be buying more of these in the future.

I have ordered this twice now and the kids keep asking to make more tie dye. Its a great gift and fun project to do at a birthday party. The color selection is great and the colors are very vibrant. I highly recommend it. Kids of all ages enjoyed it...the adults too! It even comes with instructions to do certain patterns. Will be ordering again.

We had a lot of fun! There was plenty of dye for 11 shirts with some left over. It was nice that the kit included gloves, rubber bands, and a big piece of plastic to protect your work area. Some of the dye bottles leaked but it wasnt that big of a deal.

I bought some soda ash to help fix this dye,and it worked beautifully. My daughter and I used not even half the kit and dyed 2 toddler shirts and 8 9mo. onesies. Maybe it was 10 onesies (some were long sleeved) anyhow..we still had some dye left over in the 7 bottles we used, could have probably done 2 more items... The thing with this kit is to know how many items you can possibly dye because once you add water to the dye bottles they are only usable for several hours. We had alot of fun with this and I think for as many colors as you get, its a pretty good deal...as we will get a couple other uses out of it still. Ive been trying to think what else we can dye with it. So far the items we dyed have held up bright and awesome even after laundering. We watched a bunch of you tube videos to learn how to tie and apply the dye. I did all the folding/banding and my 3 year old was able to apply the dyes. It was a fun afternoon project for us and the drop cloth is heavy enough that you can use it again.

This is the easiest way to tie dye!! Only concern was that the lids to the bottles dont screw on SUPER well, so make sure to fill with water and shake somewhere where you dont mind some dye spattering around. Also, dying 100% cotton is the key to success here. Really enjoyed this kit for a birthday party, we had more than enough dye for 12 adult medium shirts!
