Ive seen a lot of other reviews and you must understand the typical users will have some issues setting this up. I have an IT background and was able to setup it up ok, but they are definitely not plug and play. So it is not recommended for the faint of heart without any technical experience. The instructions that come with them are a very small folded pamphlet, so you need to go to Ubiquiti website for more setup information and controller software. The support is pretty much useless and have to wait a long time for pretty much level I support. You have to download a Java based Unifi Controller software to install on your PC to manage it, so it does not have a built in interface to access. Also, if you want to remotely manage it the Unifi Controller software need to be running on you PC all the time, or you will have to pay hundreds of dollars for cloud software key. But if you want to manage it remotely with the Controller software it is pretty tricky to setup and you have to open a bunch of TCP and UDP ports on your firewall which is not worth it. Also after a few hours of use the AP seems to run pretty warm on the bottom. End result is the price is ok, but it is just an OK AP in my opinion, but disappointed with the wireless coverage and remote management and definitely no built in interface.

Once you figure out how to install it, it is a rock-solid wifi PoE. I finally installed using the iOS app, and it worked flawlessly ever since. Not one reboot or crash, unlike my old wireless modem.

Very technical to set up sot not just for average user. Also after using a month having issues of logging on obtaining an IP address.. Hoping only a small issue.

Ive dealt with poor wifi signal in my Florida home since Spectrum installed the router in the garage. For 4 years weve tried several extenders and used a TP Link wireline one that was probably a 2 out of 5 but let it be. Now working from home this needed to be fixed ASAP. I saw raving reviews on Google whole home and went into a rabbit hole of reviews on wifi systems but could NOT justify $200 instead of just getting a better router. I found this system and began reading more about it and said this may be a viable professional fix for less than $100. Got it and set it up with the mobile app in under 30 min. I changed channels and copied my existing router SSID/PW. Everything at home is working great! 2 vpns working from home, outdoor IP cameras, 6 streaming devices, 5 smartphones, 2 tablets, 2 Chromebooks and 2 smart TVs all with excellent signal and 4x times faster than my other connection. This is great and I have been recommending it to everyone! Only thing you need is cat5 cables for patching and make sure its long enough to where you need to install it. Highly recommended!

I run an I.T. company and we install these things everywhere. Yes, there are better wireless systems out there and easier to use ones. But they lack the right balance of simplicity, performance, and feature set. These get used a lot in restaurant setups, museums, large houses, and small to medium business setups. The range, and the wireless handoff make these great for situations where you want to go in, install the wireless system, and not have to deal with a lot of finicky settings about authentication and guest access. My average install time after getting the wiring done is an hour, which includes an SSID for EAP/RADIUS authentication, a device network with a static PSK, and a guest network. That said, if you need a hardware controller, kiosk-granted guest access, or more control over wireless parameters, Rukus equipment is a far better match, and if you only need a single access point, AMPED Wireless has advantages. But for most of my setups, these and and of the new generation of Ubiquiti WAPs are great.

First I will make note that I just installed this, and it is my first Ubiquity AP. A little history, years ago I learned through experience that consumer grade routers and wifi products were only designed to last a couple of years before you had to buy a new one. That was usually a software thing, but sometimes the hardware died. I got tired of constantly replacing gear so I bought my first enterprise grade network gear about 15 years ago. In that endeavor I learned Cisco can be complex to program. I was going to school to be an electrical engineer at the time and that made it easier, but not easy. A couple of years ago I learned about Ubiquity. They have a market in the middle. Not quite full Cisco enterprise grade, but better then your standard consumer grade products put out by the likes of TP Link, Netgear, and others that are commonly found for home use. My purpose in typing all this is to address some of the negative reviews I have read. Those that say it was hard to set-up or didnt work when plugged directly into your providers router. Well, this is not your consumer grade plug and play product. This will require some tech savvy know how and you will need to be familiar with how networks function and how to program them. If you need plug and play, this is not for you. If your a tech nerd or a network professional, I dont need to explain any more. My only gripe would be that the UniFi line does not interface with the Edge line. My router is a Ubiquity Edge, this is a UniFi, and both have their own interfaces. I will update with longevity. I have two Cisco switches (Catalyst 2950) which are nearing 15 years old and still function flawlessly. I doubt I will get the same longevity out of this AP, but time will tell.

I bought this to extend wireless to some dead zones in my house. Because I already had the profile set up for my main UAP, I was able to adopt and provision the UAP AC Lite in less than a minute, which is incredible. Has handled AP roaming just fine, and WiFi works everywhere in my house now.
