> 3 dayNot the easiest setup the first time you try getting logged in. Once you figure it out (and I didnt find the directions to be terribly clear) it makes management a breeze. However, you need to know what you are doing even with this device, in terms of configuring APs and switches. Its definitely a prosumer device. Great for admins looking to simplify management of small businesses or MSPs looking to do the same. I run it at my house with 3 APs and its great. Its about the same price as a typical consumer 3 AP mesh network with a TON more manageability than you would get with a consumer grade product.

08-06-2025Neat addition. Saves needing to launch the service in Windows when you need to make a change. Its always on and ready to receive. The remote -access feature is a pleasant addition. It works ok so far. This is simply a small-format mobo running their VyOS implementation. Runs off PoE and has an SD card slot for config & logging.

> 3 dayWith an $80 device, one would expect it comes with an AC adapter to power up the device - thats not much to ask for. This Cloud Key device does not come with one, which creates hassles for customers, at least for me. Looking at the picture listed for the product, it has a micro USB connection so I bought USB charger. Today I tried open up the box, tried to configure the device for a client and I found out the Cloud Key I got has the USB-C connection, not the same as it is shown in the picutre. Big disappointment for me and for the client. Waste time for nothing.

> 3 dayThe end pieces are too small and wont stay in. The band pops out from the watch, and its fallen twice. Even though you can feel the watch lock click in place, it still pulls straight out (doesnt slide out the side like other people experienced.)

Greater than one week[EDIT 7-21-16: 4 stars revised down to 2 stars. I have returned my Cloud Key. Although the product may work very well for you, I do not believe this device is ready for prime time. For sure this device cannot yet be considered a consumer device. Reason #1, the user forums for the Cloud Key are reporting that the device fails to start properly after a power failure. #2, the unit ships with a firmware version starting with a leading zero (0.4x or 0.5x). This convention traditionally indicates beta code. Stuffing the UniFi controller into a tiny compute that plugs into a switch is a great idea, but the idea is to increase reliability. In my view the opposite is occurring. Hopefully Ubiquiti will work the kinks out down the road. Until then I am going back to running the UniFi controller on a computer. If you do choose to use a Cloud Key be sure that the switch (or the outlet providing the USB power) is plugged in a UPS (battery backup). Again, many are reporting database corruption and the Cloud Key needing replacement after a power outage. If you do need to power down your Cloud Key, shut it down from the Maintenance tab of the Cloud Key web interface first.] ----------------------------------------------------------- Hello. This review pertains to what the Cloud Key is and one way to quickly set it up. The review is for folks already familiar with UniFi. If you are new to UniFi, which is a product for managing a WiFi network, may I point you to my review entitled UniFi Overview listed here:

> 3 dayTurns into a BRICK with unexpected power loss. Ubiquitis answer is to use battery backup. Does the guy who wrote the support article not know that UPS devices tend to last two hours at most? Moreover, their suggested fix is a factory reset and loading a backup. In addition to being a PITA, this requires physical access to the location. All of our network infrastructure is Ubi except for the router (routing is done by a $5K Palo Alto Networks firewall). And if we have a power outage that outlasts the two 1500VA UPS units, everything Ubi is toast. We were very high on Ubi products until now. Feature set, UI and price point are very impressive. But reliability wise, they are below a $100 Belkin router from Best Buy. Unless you live in a place where power losses never exceed the capability of your UPS... Get your paper clip ready.
