Bought this October 2018, the SSD Is great, but the USB cable is really bad, I keep having connection issues. I thought something was wrong with the SSD. I eventually bought a cable and everything works good. WD I expect better than this with your products. Get a better cable manufacturer for your products. A cable is a major part of any Portable drive, errors can occur with poor connections, even leading to damaged and lost files.

Works great right out of the box. My only complaint with the product is with the USB-C cable + USB A adapter. It has a groove on both the adapter and cable allowing it to plug in only one way which is a bit annoying. Other than that this is a superb product

I love this little beast, but sometimes it can be very frustrating to use. I use this drive with a 2015 MacBook Pro that usually works fine unless either (1) the computer dies with the hard drive still plgged in, or (2) the drive is not safely ejected. In either case, the drive is no longer recognized when I plug it in again and I need to run a disk repair using the Disk Utility app. Sometimes the repair fails and I need to either restart my computer or unplug/replug the drive several times for the repair to work. Thankfully, this does not happen often and none of my files are lost/corrupted. However I havent seen this behavior with other hard drives. Other than that it is a great product - super fast transfer speeds and it comes in an amazing size. Overall, Id still recommend this product.

I have a 2017 15 MBP with 256gb drive and needed more space as I am headed into creating videos. I am also a software developer and needed an external drive that wouldnt lag. I received this drive and tested it by completely rebuilding my iOS app. It took 1min 39sec on my internal drive and only 1min 42sec on this external drive. Thats a negligible impact and exactly what I hoped it would be. Highly recommended.

I have backed up two desktops and my laptop on this unit. It was a snap to set up, and move between the computers. Its a hard drive that allows me to share my thousands of photos simply.

Limited testing on an Inspiron 7573. No optimization beyond token attempts to keep drivers up to date. Windows 10, usable as D: second I plugged it into a port. No issues moving to other ports. Approximately the same size as a business or credit card, although not as wide. Will be lost the first time My kids unplug it. Downloading an installing a single Steam game at 10MB/sec Connected to usb-c port (has DisplayPort logo next to it) Writes to drive burst above 30MB/s but mostly stayed around 20-25ish. Avg response time 3-8ms. Connected to USB port marked SS for superspeed Writes solid at 20-23is, no burst, but response time 10-20ms. Please note, connected to usb-c i’ve seen write bursts to 140MB/sec. I don’t know if I can truly say the top speed of this drive, but the port on your machine may make a significant different

Its a 1 TB SSD. It looks like the picture in the listing. It was the correct color. It supports USB3. The only thing I dont know is how long it will be in service.

The external drive works great so far no complaints. The price was a little high, but that is common place for a SSD drive compared to a HDD. I like the compact size, it doesnt take up much space when I use it my for my desktop or laptop.

Computer drives are transparent to the user when they work correctly, thus making them more of a commodity. That in mind, this is a great drive. Simple to use as a plain drive. It also provides WD features for encryption and cloud backup ...these services require registration but registration is NOT required in order to use the drive itself (and the drive can be encrypted with other methods than the WD method...so for paranoid types who dont want to register their encrypted drive up to the cloud do not need to do so). The physical size of the drive itself is much much smaller than I was expecting; much smaller than a standard laptop-type hard drive in an enclosure. Its like a box of matches. No complaints though! Makes it highly portable. The combination of low cost, large capacity, speed of USB-C interface makes this a very appealing drive.

I got this unit to replace my old WD passport for my mac. It works great and was really fast. I got the 1TB and love the SSD on it. Its really compact for easy storage.
