Drive itself is fast and the transfer speeds are also great. Attached Crystal Disk Mark benchmark as well as the transfer speed of a 102GB file taking only 5 minutes using USB 3.1 (internal storage is SATA so limited by that). Expensive drive but will be very useful. Happy with everything so far.

Great little drive thats quick. Only problem is the USB-C cable that is now coming with the drive is about 8 long (seriously?!) where some of the previous ones I bought here had cables over 2 feet long. My drive literally cant reach my desk from the computer. Its dangling in the air. But I highly recommend the drive.

My first SSD drive, and though its more expensive than a standard drive, there is a big level of ease, knowing that there are no moving parts to crash and destroy the platter... and of course all of the data on it. Very happy to have it, after going through the agony of 2 hd crashes in the last 6 months, and nearly losing a ton of photography and writing. Very compact and well mad.

Best SSD I actually have a Samsung and this one but I will always prefer this one I just wish the type C to USB 3 cable was better quality since they already give you a type c to type c cable dont see the need for another 1 using a adapter for the USB 3

GREAT SSD so far. Just hope it doesnt lose any memory like Ive heard rumors that the WD SSD drives do. Online ordering is FANTASTIC. Memory capacity choices were good. Delivery was fast and secure. No complaints. Im considering buying a higher capacity model.

All I wanted is an external SSD drive to connect to a PC with Win7 with drive utilities-- no backup/cloud/security/or unwanted apps and trial software, etc. If you are like me, then do not install the WD Discovery software-- it breaks through your firewall, sets up a scheduled tasks to update itself-- trys to install the bloatware... So, after deleting the wanted programs and leaving the drive utilities (which you can download from WD.com without the Discovery software), I am disappointed with the drive utilities too. They are not specific to SSD drives, but at least the drive is formatted with exFAT. Perhaps I am spoiled with the SAMSUNG SSD drive utilities. WD if you are watching-- Give us a choice of what to load when launching your Discovery software. And, tell us simply what privacy we are giving up to use it. (I should think for just the utilities-- there should not be any private content taken from users.)

I transferring years and years of videos and photos from disc externals to these WD 2TB SSD’s. Silent. Takes very little USB power (helpful when you have 4 connected at once). No issues with these and I’m about to purchase another one. Seriously, for the size, these must work on pure magic.

I purchased this SSD for the sole function of backing up Macbook Air computers used by my wife and me. The backup program which I had installed on the computers had ceased to work with earlier Passport devices for some arcane reason that I really didnt understand (something to do with new Mac OS and interplay with the backup program). The good news is that backups to this unit are faster, it had double the capacity of the two prior Passport devices (I had one 500 GB drive for each computer) so I need only this one drive to backup both laptops, this Passport is much more compact than the older 500 GB drive (that is, it is smaller than one of the older drives so our backups now consume far less than 50% of the space needed previously) so it will be handy for extended travel as we are very oriented to traveling with one carry-on size suitcase each for trips that are up to 4 months in duration.

I love this little beast, but sometimes it can be very frustrating to use. I use this drive with a 2015 MacBook Pro that usually works fine unless either (1) the computer dies with the hard drive still plgged in, or (2) the drive is not safely ejected. In either case, the drive is no longer recognized when I plug it in again and I need to run a disk repair using the Disk Utility app. Sometimes the repair fails and I need to either restart my computer or unplug/replug the drive several times for the repair to work. Thankfully, this does not happen often and none of my files are lost/corrupted. However I havent seen this behavior with other hard drives. Other than that it is a great product - super fast transfer speeds and it comes in an amazing size. Overall, Id still recommend this product.
