> 24 hourThe drive is working fine but there is an issue with the WD backup software. The software could not identify the drive as a backup target although Windows file explorer could see the drive. I contacted customer support via email and told them what I had already tried from their knowledge base. I got an email in return telling me to try exactly what I had already told them that I tried. I then called and was told that a recent Windows 10 update was preventing the WD backup software from working properly. They then educated me on how to use the Windows 10 file backup utility. Problem is there is no information on the internet or in the WD knowledge base on the Windows 10 update problem. I believe I was told this to just get me off the phone. I also did not receive any information on when this issue will be resolved if it really is the problem.

> 24 hourThe My Passport drive is a near useless device for me. The software accompanying the device cant detect itself as an external drive, so I am unable to set up any kind of a backup plan and I cannot set up password protection. I contacted Amazon tech support and they were unable to solve the problem. I also contacted Western Digital online, and their suggestions also failed to solve the problem. In their last email to me, they stated, We are working hard on compatibility with Windows 10. Windows 10 was released in 2015. You would think that Western Digital would have solved compatibility problems by now. Even though it is very cumbersome, Ive tried dragging and dropping my files to My Passport. Ive only been successful once. Every other time I attempt to drag and drop, it will only establish a link back to the file on my computers hard drive. Dont waste your money. Buy something else.

> 24 hourThis is the second WD 2 TB Black Passport Portable External Hard drive in the past 6 months. Initially, I thought there was a defect, but with assistance from an IT relative, it works fine now. I highly recommend it. I would purchase it again without hesitation!

> 24 hourWorks with Windows 10. My observation: The product did not come with written instructions, unless I missed something. The user is suppose to know that the external drive hAs to be connected to a USB port on computer and then the user can find the electronic version of the user guide contained with the drive on the computer screen monitor. I was concerned that I could not fully take advantage of this product till I located the user guide. It must be that Western Digital is trying to reduce paper included in product. In my opinion, it would be better served if short instructions were included with the product on where to find the user guide.

> 24 hourReceived this item on time and in excellent condition, thanks to the way the manufacturer packaged it. Use it for my primary backup for new Dell XPS-8910 tower computer using Windows 10 Home edition. It is located on top of the pc and connects to one of the USB 3.0 ports on the front of the pc through about a 10 inch long USB cable that comes with the unit. Installation, settings/user preferences, and online registration of the unit was flawless, quick and easy. I have it set to perform a backup of my C: drive every hour, and it does the job in a timely manner on the hour. I have run all the diagnostic tests that the device is equipped with, and all have passed. The extended test that checks the entire 2TB drive took a little over 6 hours to check. I have not had to test the actual backup function yet. I also have an earlier model of this drive on a different, older computer since 2014, and it has served me well so far.

> 24 hourWD is the way to go, especially when theyre not putting garbage shovel-ware onto their External Hard Drives, and Im happy to report that there isnt any of that crap on this one. It requires no power to use this device other than the USB port, and from my experience wont give up on you after a year like most seagate drives Ive handled have. In this day and age, Dont get anything less than 2TB. The difference in price between 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB are extremely measly (50 for 1TB, 60 for 1.5, 70 for 2Tb). Thats 20$ more for double the capacity. And if youre buying this, you probably already filled up your primary hard drive. So just get the 2TB, or higher.

> 24 hourIve had very good luck with WD drives in the past. Im giving this an average review because I really dont know how reliable this will be in the future. A hard drive shipped in a soft pouch doesnt comfort me though and Im thinking that continuing Amazon Prime after the free trial might not be such a good idea.

> 24 hourIts small and silent. Bought this for my PS4. PS4 showed 1.84 terabytes after format but before showed 2.1TB!? The USB cable could be longer or is it just the right length? I dont know but it barely reaches around the back from being plugged into the front USB port on the middle of my slim PS4. Its a small hard drive just a bit larger in size than a pack of cigarettes. I did put my hand on it after it had been running for hours downloading PS4 digital content and this hard drive was warm to the touch. I dont know. So far very happy and surprised by the small size and zero noise.

> 24 hourI bought this after my Seagate quit working. Hands down, the WD is clearly superior in every way. Cheaper, faster and most of all, very easy to use and understand. Super quite and compact. Able to be transported only if really needed to be, but I bought the Lacdo EVA shockproof carrying case. That is a must have with this external Hard Drive. I love it.
