> 24 hourAfter searching and reviewing different external hard drives for a few weeks, I ended up purchasing this one from WD and I’m glad I did. It performs great with my MacBook Pro and the transferring speeds are very quick as well as the added storage capabilities.

> 24 hourI use this as an external HDD to store and work on my raw files with Lightroom in a MacBook Pro 2018. I had to buy a USB-C adapter. So far it works very well, speed its not an issue. I was a little upset when I discover SSD because I didnt bought the last available technology for storage, but for my needs I have the good performance and a save some dollars.

> 24 hourPlugged it in and it works. Just to be sure, I ran various formatting and disk check tests to exercise the disk until I had 100 hrs on it, to weed out any early problems (infant mortality, its called in the reliability biz). I like the three-year warranty, but didnt want to commit my data until I felt confident in the drive. Im doing some extended travel and Im hauling this drive around with me as a back-up, and to hold my music and photo libraries that are too large for my laptop. This is my second My Passport from WD. It appears to be identical to the previous WD 2TB drive, except for the styling of the case. I dont like the sharp corners of this drive; the earlier version had more rounded corners. A minor point, but I will be packing and unpacking this drive (and the earlier one, as Im carrying both) pretty often, and the rounded corners are easier to handle. As compensation I got an Amazon Basics Hard Carrying Case. Provides some protection, and prevents things from snagging on the corners.

> 24 hourExcellent disk. Compact, light and fast. I bought it to backup my Mac with Time Machine. At first I was unable to format it on MAC although I am not a novice user, so I come to think that the product was defective. I contacted WDs technical support and in a few minutes they helped me solve the problem. Now it works perfect. 100% MAC-compatible

> 24 hourPros: Includes ability to encrypt drive with a password - this is the main reason why I chose this drive. This is a must in case you are travelling and the drive gets lost, stolen, or accidentally left somewhere your sensitive files will be safe. The encryption utility is seamless and works very good - you can add/remove/or change the password anytime without affecting the files on the drive, as well as have the drive automatically unlock on certain computers. Pretty good transfer speeds over USB 3.0 - topped out just over 100 MB/s Cons: This drive is much thicker than my 1TB Passport drive as well as my 2TB Seagate drive. It seems like they could have made this drive thinner since there are other 2TB drives that are not as thick. The case is a fingerprint magnet.

> 24 hourGreat drive. Reasonably priced for a 2TB. I have 3 WD portable drives. They all work well and a couple have lasted several years. The difference between this one and the Ultra is backup software. I dont need it. I needed a good external drive for use with my PS4 and this one works well. But, youll have to reformat it for FAT or exFAT. PS4 wont recognize NTFS file system. These portable are great. I greatly prefer them to standard external hard drives. Theres no need for an external power source. It gets all its power through the USB port. This drive is USB 3.0. The performance is pretty good. Seems to maintain 100 MB/sec read and write speeds and higher depending on the file size. It can drop to close to 50-60 MB/sec for large file transfers. This drive is about as small as it can be and not terribly heavy. Its a great choice if you need some external storage. I trust Western Digital. Based on years of good experience with their products. I do not trust the other brand most typically compared to WD. I have had major problems with their drives.

> 24 hourReceived this item on time and in excellent condition, thanks to the way the manufacturer packaged it. Use it for my primary backup for new Dell XPS-8910 tower computer using Windows 10 Home edition. It is located on top of the pc and connects to one of the USB 3.0 ports on the front of the pc through about a 10 inch long USB cable that comes with the unit. Installation, settings/user preferences, and online registration of the unit was flawless, quick and easy. I have it set to perform a backup of my C: drive every hour, and it does the job in a timely manner on the hour. I have run all the diagnostic tests that the device is equipped with, and all have passed. The extended test that checks the entire 2TB drive took a little over 6 hours to check. I have not had to test the actual backup function yet. I also have an earlier model of this drive on a different, older computer since 2014, and it has served me well so far.

> 24 hourI bought my PS4 a couple years ago, it came with only 500 GB hard drive. If you are really into gaming you know that isnt enough room. I decided to buy this hard drive with 2 TB, and now I have more than enough space to hold all my games. Especially since the majority of my games are digital copies, I really needed the extra space. It is super easy to set up, all you do is plug it in to the USB slot, go to devices, and set it up as an extended storage device. The process only takes a couple minutes and I transferred around 100 GB of games in 35 minutes. I would definitely recommend it.

> 24 hourI bought this to sub in for my other external HD with external power supply. So comparing to that, this one is easier to use - plug the USB and thats it. Storage size and speed is OK. When I bought it, 2TB was huge, and USB 3.0 was super fast. But nowadays there are many newer options with SSD. So in general, for a backup solution, this one is good enough.

> 24 hourI purchased the 2TB Black Standard External HDD: Feels sturdy and looks professional, 3.0 USB provides great data transfer speeds for the large files (mostly used it for video and edited images), and a great amount of space for the price. As you would expect from WD.
