> 3 dayGreat external hard drive. I highly recommend this portable hard drive. it’s small and easy to carry yet has a lot of space with two tb, which is more than enough for my needs. It’s fast and loads quickly when connected to the computer unlike other hard drives I have bought.

> 3 dayIve been using this for a few months as a backup drive for my iMac. I have it velcrod to the back of my mac and I plug it in once a week or so, let TimeMachine do its thing and then eject and unplug. It spins up quick and I have no issues. Its amazingly small and doesnt make any noise - which is great with keeping down the clutter. Setup was very easy, I reformatted it, selecting the format type of Mac OS Extended (Journaled) to clean up any things they may have pre-installed on it. Then opened up TimeMachine from the Settings app and selected it as the drive to backup to. Then you just need to give it a few hours for the first backup. Quick and easy.

> 3 dayBought it at $69.99 and has worked great for me so far. Has good download/upload speeds and seems like its built well. I have not had any corruption issues with it and hopefully wont because its being used to store backups.

> 3 dayfirst experience with WD - it seems to be working ok now though the key for a backup drive is how is it working years later? One issue, i keep getting a message that the backup file is corrupted and asking if it should be deleted. Cant seem to find a fix. I may just reformat the whole thing and backup manually - not as convenient but i can at least access the files directly without having to restore. Had a Seagate before - it died after about 3-4 years --- seems a short life for a drive which is only accessed every hour or so and then for only a few seconds. The one in my computer is 8-years old, is accessed all the time, and still works! I probably ought to dig into the box and see what brand it is.

> 3 dayI have nothing really to add here in regards to specs, speed, etc. I just want to clarify that this is simply the successor to the old Passport line from Western Digital. Because the case looks (and actually is) a little sturdier, some folks assume this is an upgraded version of sorts. Its not. It contains the same drive inside as the previous version. The case is just a bit bigger, and more rectangle in shape. There is a bit more clearance between the drive inside and the plastic housing, so in theory it might make this a tad more sturdy in the event of a very slight drop. This is NOT a military grade case. Think of it as a design change with POSSIBLY a little more protection. This new design will take up more space than the old style, which may or may not be an issue for you. The old design usually meant that the black case was the cheapest, and you had to pay extra for colors, usually about $10 more or so. Right now, you have a better chance to get a color case at the same price as the black ones than before. Its possible this is just an introductory price though. One odd thing is that when you order on Amazon, you may get the For Mac version - even if you order just the regular Windows version. The drive itself is identical, the only difference is the file format on the drive, which you can change. If you get a Mac version (HSF format) you can easily change it to Windows (NTFS), and vice versa. Newer Macs can actually read and write NTFS (write-option might be hidden) so this might be a moot point anyway. Why not 5 stars then if its all the same? Because ITS THE SAME. I expected faster drives inside for 2016. Instead, performance seems to be about the same as Passports from 3 years ago. There are no additional connectivity options either. At this point, WD should be able to add USB-C in addition to USB 3. It likely came down to cost, but considering how so many newer laptops and desktops from Apple and most PC-makers now include USB-C, I think one of the biggest hard drive makers should include this option now. If you purchase any of the newer Apple laptops, its all about USB-C now. So these drives will be useless unless you want to juggle adapters and dongles.

> 3 dayThe drive is working fine but there is an issue with the WD backup software. The software could not identify the drive as a backup target although Windows file explorer could see the drive. I contacted customer support via email and told them what I had already tried from their knowledge base. I got an email in return telling me to try exactly what I had already told them that I tried. I then called and was told that a recent Windows 10 update was preventing the WD backup software from working properly. They then educated me on how to use the Windows 10 file backup utility. Problem is there is no information on the internet or in the WD knowledge base on the Windows 10 update problem. I believe I was told this to just get me off the phone. I also did not receive any information on when this issue will be resolved if it really is the problem.

> 3 dayOnly reason for 4 stars as I cannot figure out the automatic backup and if I need to use it that way. I use it only to back up my Photos and so far it has been quite reliable. I wish I could figure out the software.

> 3 dayIve had it for about a month now and it is consistently reliable. I periodically do full system and fill backups to this hard drive and it has been speedy and reliable. I also do incremental backups every Sunday and have not had an issue with this hard drive. I dont recommend using the backup software that comes with this device, however. I personally use the free version of EaseUS Todo; it works perfectly with this device. Definitely recommend this hard drive for backing up your computer.

> 3 dayEl disco duro funciona bien, pero al tiempo tuve un accidente con el puerto USB, y no entra el cable, al tratar de cambiar la caja, no es posible porque el puerto USB está soldado, el arreglo sale casi igual que el disco duro, pésimo soporte.
