> 3 dayIve had very good luck with WD drives in the past. Im giving this an average review because I really dont know how reliable this will be in the future. A hard drive shipped in a soft pouch doesnt comfort me though and Im thinking that continuing Amazon Prime after the free trial might not be such a good idea.

> 3 dayThis was my first purchase of an external hard drive. Bought it to back up a massive music and video collection from my cpu. Works better than I expected and now can download a ton more media. I’m no computer expert, but the other more technical reviews for this product (WD 2TB passport) were spot on.

> 3 dayOccasionally Warehouse Deals blows it. This was one of those cases. They sent the Mac version (which looks identical except having a big Mac version on it). I looked at drive use and decided to reformat drive for PC use and try it out as it was pretty close. (and I could not wait for a swap). Sometimes warehouse deals is good sometimes they are close and sometimes they totally fail. 80 percent good 10 percent close 10 percent total fail. If I have time and can deal with issues I try them out. If it is critical I buy new... Drive it self is good, Warranty is best in class and RMA process for WD is great.

Greater than one weekGot the item and after it warmed up from being out in the cold delivery truck I hooped it up and in about 15 minutes had software installed updated and my complete backup completed. Love this item even though I know there are newer more improved models this one works for my situation.

Greater than one weekI have nothing really to add here in regards to specs, speed, etc. I just want to clarify that this is simply the successor to the old Passport line from Western Digital. Because the case looks (and actually is) a little sturdier, some folks assume this is an upgraded version of sorts. Its not. It contains the same drive inside as the previous version. The case is just a bit bigger, and more rectangle in shape. There is a bit more clearance between the drive inside and the plastic housing, so in theory it might make this a tad more sturdy in the event of a very slight drop. This is NOT a military grade case. Think of it as a design change with POSSIBLY a little more protection. This new design will take up more space than the old style, which may or may not be an issue for you. The old design usually meant that the black case was the cheapest, and you had to pay extra for colors, usually about $10 more or so. Right now, you have a better chance to get a color case at the same price as the black ones than before. Its possible this is just an introductory price though. One odd thing is that when you order on Amazon, you may get the For Mac version - even if you order just the regular Windows version. The drive itself is identical, the only difference is the file format on the drive, which you can change. If you get a Mac version (HSF format) you can easily change it to Windows (NTFS), and vice versa. Newer Macs can actually read and write NTFS (write-option might be hidden) so this might be a moot point anyway. Why not 5 stars then if its all the same? Because ITS THE SAME. I expected faster drives inside for 2016. Instead, performance seems to be about the same as Passports from 3 years ago. There are no additional connectivity options either. At this point, WD should be able to add USB-C in addition to USB 3. It likely came down to cost, but considering how so many newer laptops and desktops from Apple and most PC-makers now include USB-C, I think one of the biggest hard drive makers should include this option now. If you purchase any of the newer Apple laptops, its all about USB-C now. So these drives will be useless unless you want to juggle adapters and dongles.

> 3 dayIm using this drive to store all my customers graphic design work on. The only thing thats been a problem is ejecting it. Its actually a big problem because everytime I want to unplug it, I have to turn off my laptop. Not very convenient. Ive done some research and Im not sure if its a problem with the drive or my computer. In any case, its a pain. Thats why I gave it 3 stars.

> 3 dayStandard 2TB storage drive for a pretty good price. The WD software it comes with is totally optional; I reformatted the drive upon arrival. I havent used it for long enough for it to fail, but it seems that most HDDs by WD, Seagate, etc. are about the same in terms of reliability. The MyPassport is pretty slim, but not exactly pocket-sized (approx. 3.25 x 4.25 x 0.75 or 8 cm x 11 cm x 2 cm). Read/write speeds are average for a USB drive.

Greater than one weekI have had this for a month now. I currently use it as external storage for my PS4. I had zero issue hooking it up (plug and play) and my PS4 formatted it so it would work properly. I currently have it sitting next to my PS4 in my media table and have no issues with it. I also enjoy that it looks like the original PS4, with one shiny side.

> 3 dayPlugged it in and it works. Just to be sure, I ran various formatting and disk check tests to exercise the disk until I had 100 hrs on it, to weed out any early problems (infant mortality, its called in the reliability biz). I like the three-year warranty, but didnt want to commit my data until I felt confident in the drive. Im doing some extended travel and Im hauling this drive around with me as a back-up, and to hold my music and photo libraries that are too large for my laptop. This is my second My Passport from WD. It appears to be identical to the previous WD 2TB drive, except for the styling of the case. I dont like the sharp corners of this drive; the earlier version had more rounded corners. A minor point, but I will be packing and unpacking this drive (and the earlier one, as Im carrying both) pretty often, and the rounded corners are easier to handle. As compensation I got an Amazon Basics Hard Carrying Case. Provides some protection, and prevents things from snagging on the corners.

> 3 daySo far so good. I just returned Seagate 2TB drive because was not working as it should while coping a lot of files at one time. It just stop coping after few files and then I had to unplug it and plug it in so I could use it again. With this one 2TB doing the same thing, I have no problem and the speed is good too. It goes up to 110MB/s which is fast. The only thing that I dont like is position of the LED which is located on the plug side of the drive. To me is the back of the drive and not the front like it should.
