Ive used Webroot previously and was pleased, but after reading stellar reviews of Bitdefender I decided to give it a try. BIG MISTAKE!!! Bitdefender caused daily blue screen abends on both of my Windows 7 machines and would not download at all on my Windows 8 machine. Emails to tech support only resulted in a generic reply. Thankfully I was able to uninstall it and bought a new copy of Webroot. Its a great program in every way. Installation and setup was a breeze and no more system abends! I know better than to look elsewhere in the future. Thanks Webroot team!

Im not sure if its just me, but I find this to not really do much for me. Yes, this internet security does have impressive reviews, which is the reason why Ive gotten it but after the first year, I decided not to renew because I find it to be mininum at best, but thanks to the special on Black Friday I renew the license for another year, and still not that impressed. First thing first, the pro is that it is very light on the system, and alledgedly scan fast. You hardly notice it in the background and it does automatically updates for you. But the problem is when you actually scan it, the commputer lags and slows down and the fan just comes on due to the stress it costs on the computer. I have had multiple instances when the program was scanning my computer with other programs running, my computer crashed. Definitely overrated, but definitely better than some of the other software out there.

Most other security software tend to get in the way and slow down te computer, or to take forever to get their updates, or to want constant inputs from the user. Webroot does its job effectively and fast. Any, by the way, it also works with WinXP as well.

I regret ever trying this product. They decided to retire their app and create a new one. The key code they provided for current customers to switch apps was EXPIRED so I went months without ANY security. I purchased a new version with a physical card with a new key code and it was EXPIRED too. Calling the company for help is futile. There is no way to reach a human being, they just keep repeating the same useless instructions over and over until you disconnect the call. Never again.

Just got this. A big mistake. Yes, it is ostensibly easy to configure. Although with some of the parameters, its not clear what exactly youre configuring or what the potential impact of your various choices would be. How hard would a little more explanation be, for those who want it?. Huge frustration has been the browser filter extensions. Had to uninstall and reinstall both Webroot and Firefox several time before the filter extension for Firefox began to work. Weirdly and somewhat disturbingly, though, the Firefox icon was changed to a blank icon, as though Firefox keeps getting corrupted by Webroot in some way. Not sure what thats about and cant figure out a way to resolve it. Still cant get the damn filter extension for IE to work, despite the fact that IEs add-on manager says that its there and enabled. Way, way too much time wasted on this already. Ugh. After all of that time wasted, I went online and found that Webroots been struggling with the browser filter extensions for some time now. All kinds of problems. Multiple iterations of releases. And, still not resolved. While searching on the web for a solution to the browser filter extension problems, I ran across this on the Webroot website from Feb 2015: This is essentially down to the way that WSA works; it does not scan your entire drive and every file by default but rather it only scans for active files/apps, on the premise that if malware is dormant/inactive then it is not a threat...which makes absolute sense when you really think about it...but the moment that a dormant file/app starts to run/goes active WSA pounces on it, determines if good or bad and acts accordingly, i.e., allows to proceed or blocks & cleans, etc. OMG, are you kidding? So, Webroot doesnt actually find and eliminate threats already on your hard drive, but waits until theyre running and then tries to stop them??? I dont need to point out the obvious shortcomings of that approach. Would be nice to know what Webroots privacy policy is without having to dig for it. The fact that its deeply buried somewhere (Ive not been able to locate it) likely isnt a good sign. It also struck me as odd and troubling that theres no option in the settings for what info gets sent or not sent to Webroot, like with all other virus protection software Ive ever used. I can only assume the worst. Finally, upon looking more closely at the Amazon reviews which led me to buy this in the first place, its hard not to wonder whether a lot of the reviews are bogus and were written by Webroot-paid trolls. There are the tell-tale signs of this: Many reviewers did not make a verified purchase and/or wrote a simple one line review and/or have never reviewed any other product. Frustrating. Very worrisome. Will return.

I switched the home machines after over a decade from Norton to Webroot and it seems to work fine. We had web performance issues with Norton over the past 2 or 3 years so I switched to this product. It seems our performance is a bit better than under Norton and I like the five pack. I never liked McAfee, even when it came for free on computers and Im not trusting my internet security to a company based in Moscow (Kaspersky).

when i bought my ASUS computer at BB they gave me WEBROOT to try out. Since i was having problems with Norton 360 on my ASUS that was running windows 8.1( I transferred my Norton account from my old comp. that was running win.7 were it worked fine) For my surprise WEBROOT worked really fast, better than my NORTON 360 ever did on my old comp. running win.7 the only problem is that it promises a password manager on your browser, but it never worked. it did worked on the try out, but not when i purchased the software. that is the only reason for a 4 star review. the password manager comes in handy, i had it on my Norton account. WEBROOT is.... to put it this way; so quiet, that i thought it was not working. So i tested it with a malicious software. that i use to test, this antivirus softwares. it took like 10 min to discover it and eliminate it. not bad, that is about the average that it has taken other antivirus softwares. all in all Im happy with the purchase. September 16th 2020 added some pics to the review. Happy and satisfied with webroot that I purchased it again pics show old case and new case. The cardboard one is the new one.

Ive used Webroot for over 3 years. Never gotten a virus on any of my machines while using webroot. Amazon sells this version for less(almost $10) less than any of the big box stores, and also less than Webroot offered me to renew. This product scans your machine faster than any other product Ive used! However, it will block certain functions on a machine that uses Windows 10. I installed it on my new Windows 10 laptop, and Webroot conflicted with touchpad issues, and slowed down Windows 10 updates. Windows 10 supposedly has a built in virus protection. When I removed Webroot from my new laptop, the touchpad issues, and the slow update issues disappeared. Caveat. These are just my experiences. Also, this is not a download, but, product includes the disc. And a renew code. If one already has Webroot, the renew code can be entered without playing the disc. But, if one of the devices you need to install the program on, is not at your location, it is good that this product includes the disc, as you can take the disc with you to the other location. I have computers of mine at several locations. I only wish Webroot would supply support for more than 5 devices, like the other antivirus programs do You can always add a device, for more money, online at their website. But, I wish theyd sell the product, to cover all ones devices.

This operates seamlessly in the background. Non-intrusive. The absolute best customer service for anti-virus Ive ever experienced. This was a renewal, so CD took me to internet to renew. Very fast and easy. Program includes permanent erase, which is a nice feature, and also works friendly with other anti-virus installed. Unlike some anti-virus programs that operate in the cloud, this one allows you to scan your files or computer without having to be connected to the Internet, even though overall the anti-virus works from the cloud. I dont know who created this program (so many are from other countries), but I like that its based in Colorado instead of a foreign nation.

I will add some a star or two if/when Webroot releases a patch to fix the problem I will describe below... I discovered that there is a serious conflict between Apples Pages word processing app (v. 5.5.3) and Realtime Shield, at least on OSX (10.10.3). When Realtime Shield is turned on, it is not possible to insert special characters (symbols, emojis, arrows, etc.) into a Pages document. After spending hours with several levels of Apple Support on this issue (during which we even reloaded the OS), I found the problem to be Realtime Shield, because disabling it allows this Pages function to work correctly. My work-around is to shut off WiFi and then shut off Realtime Shield whenever I need to insert a special character into a document, and then do the reverse when Im done. This does work, but it would be nice if Webroot could make a patch to resolve this conflict problem. Other than that, installation was easy, and if it does what it says it will do, Ill be happy.

Webroot scours 95% of the Internet three times per day including billions of web pages, files, and apps to determine what is safe online and enhances the software automatically so you don’t have to perform any time-consuming updates. Our cloud-based antivirus software scans faster, uses fewer system resources and safeguards your devices in real-time by identifying and blocking new threats. Webroot protects your personal information against online threats and warns you of potential danger before you click. Installs in seconds and with its rollback technology automatically returns infected device to their original state.
