Ive had Webroot installed for about 6 weeks now. This replaced Kaspersky Total Security. I run Windows 10 Home on an older Dell laptop. I can only presume Webroot is doing what it says it is. It runs a scan every day in the background and it is hardly noticeable. Kaspersky used all but freeze my system for hours. Task manager would show 100% disk or 98% CPU usage. Kaspersky would run a rootkit scan and a quick scan at least once a day, One complaint I have about webroot is there are no logs or reports (that Ive been able to find thus far) to review its activity. Im very pleased with how my system is running. I spent a couple days reading reviews on various packages and this seemed highly rated.

We family of 5 have used thus program to keep us safe. This one is the best for that. Have used 3 other companies in the past, this works the best for us. I installed 5 days prior to another 1 year coverage. I sent a note to Webroot and they guided me how to add the new key without the need to reinstall. Plus our 5 days were added to the 365. ☺

I purchased this software on October 20, i.e. a bit more than a month ago. When I first installed the software, I had specifically formatted my hard disk to assure that Id install the security software on a clean hard disk. While the installation of Webroot proved to be easy and quick, I sensed that my browser(s) was loading dreadfully slowly. Analog phone-line pace. Customarily I only use one browser, but I installed a couple of different ones in an attempt to determine whether the slow loading was browser-specific. It made no difference. I contacted the developer and received a brief answer after a few days (Id hate to have an emergency): uninstall and reinstall. Initially, that simple instruction worked. Now, a couple of weeks later, Im back to the slow-loading of the browsers. To be transparent, I run Windows 7 Ultra and have only productivity software (MS Office 2010) installed on my computer. No games, no pictures, no music. At this point, Im annoyed with the security software; while it has kept my computer safe, it slows me down tremendously in my work. The period to return the software has expired. Moreover, I note that Amazon is now selling the same precise version for $22.00 less than I paid in October. Not pleased about that either. I will in likelihood return to the new version of the security software I used in previous years. This experiment has failed.

Update on March 10, 2017 Raising my rating to 2 stars because of Webroots responsiveness, although it took them a week to actually understand the problem and provide relevant advice. Meanwhile, I returned the disk to Amazon, Googled reviews for security software, saw Webroot was still highly rated for its out-of-box approach and found a link in the PCWorld review which allowed me to renew my software for only $29.99 ($50 off--good until June, 2017.) That went very smoothly. Just entered my activation code and was up and running for another year. I declined the automatic renewal as it locks you in to paying full retail. I prefer to shop and save 60+%. And how tough is it to type security software reviews 2017 into Googles search box? Cannot go higher than 2 stars because installation from this disk is not straightforward and requires special effort from the renewal user to find the activation code in their Amazon order and enter it before their installed, expiring/expired software will (based on Webroots feedback) permit installation of the new software or simply renew it. This is WAY TOO complicated. Was not like this any previous year. Webroot NEEDS TO FIX THIS. If I could rate this lower, I would. What you need to know is if you currently have Webroot software, this disc will not install. Instead of running, it just takes you back to your installed version warning you to renew at an additional cost of $79.99. Moreover it will not uninstall, insisting your password is incorrect. Interesting ploy from a drowning company. Used to love Webroot, but it has betrayed my trust. Not good for a security company. Webroot used to be excellent. My recommendation, go elsewhere for your security software. Webroot has lost its way.

I have had Norton installed for a couple years now and wanted to try something new & possibly better. After uninstalling Norton & installing WEBROOT a system scan revealed a hidden virus or Trojan that Norton never knew was there. Also, I have been getting warnings when visiting some sites that have pop-up ads that contain Trojans & blocks these from my computer. So, all in all, this blows Norton away. I just wish they would have a lifetime subscription or 3 year subscription instead of just yearly.

I will add some a star or two if/when Webroot releases a patch to fix the problem I will describe below... I discovered that there is a serious conflict between Apples Pages word processing app (v. 5.5.3) and Realtime Shield, at least on OSX (10.10.3). When Realtime Shield is turned on, it is not possible to insert special characters (symbols, emojis, arrows, etc.) into a Pages document. After spending hours with several levels of Apple Support on this issue (during which we even reloaded the OS), I found the problem to be Realtime Shield, because disabling it allows this Pages function to work correctly. My work-around is to shut off WiFi and then shut off Realtime Shield whenever I need to insert a special character into a document, and then do the reverse when Im done. This does work, but it would be nice if Webroot could make a patch to resolve this conflict problem. Other than that, installation was easy, and if it does what it says it will do, Ill be happy.

Ill give 4 stars because its working fine on Windows 8, but really messed up my Apple Mac mini. It rooted in and took over so it would not allow hardly anything to work and locked it up. So I had to webchat with Apple and take it to an Apple center to have them reinstall the system since I am on Hughes Net and could not download that much info without taking days to do it myself. They took over an hour at it but were great and didnt charge me for it. The moral of it is DONT USE WEBROOT ON MACS.

Wow. Im 70 and no computer guru. I have 2 laptops ( 1 windows 7, 1 windows 10), 1 XP tower and an Android tablet. I expected to have a fit just getting the Webroot to run and DUH..no. Once you get the first computer to accept (windows 10 in my case), this was so simple it was amazing. Really pleased with this so far. Webroot states it has security for all these computers. Im about to find out. If this does not work out well, yall will be the first to know, but so far, so good. This is a one year contract and for what it covers, I find it extremely reasonable. I bought the disk as I prefer that to downloading. I had Bitdefender on my computers and they installed it (didnt support XP or Android). Cost me a fortune for a 3 year contract for 2 computers and allowed a virus in on the windows 10 that literally destroyed everything. I had to replace the hard-drive . I expect much better results from Webroot.

Ive used Webroot previously and was pleased, but after reading stellar reviews of Bitdefender I decided to give it a try. BIG MISTAKE!!! Bitdefender caused daily blue screen abends on both of my Windows 7 machines and would not download at all on my Windows 8 machine. Emails to tech support only resulted in a generic reply. Thankfully I was able to uninstall it and bought a new copy of Webroot. Its a great program in every way. Installation and setup was a breeze and no more system abends! I know better than to look elsewhere in the future. Thanks Webroot team!
