> 3 dayI bought this product after reviewers from several different sources said it was the best. Two weeks after installing it my computer it was taken over by the DNS Unlocker virus. Not only did this Webroot software not detect it, it couldn’t quarantine or repair it. Thankfully, I was able to get rid of it using the instructions from the Microsoft Community postings. I have been using computers since the 1980’s and have installed many different brands of antivirus software and this is the first such problem I have ever had. I guess this is lesson learned and time to move to something else. Update: About 10 minutes after posting my review, James Garcia of Webroot posted his comment. To no surprise, they blame the consumer saying the virus that infected my computer is “a potentially unwanted application that is always installed by user consent”. He then goes on to say that “Anytime that you think you are infected, it is best to reach out to our support team for assistance. They can remote in and resolve issues such as this free of charge”. First, thanks for the rapid response, even if it just to blame me and attempt to do damage control. Second, your company claims that their product (and I quote) “Webroot Internet Security Complete 2016 provides real-time protection for PCs, Macs and your Android/iOS devices, blocking viruses, malware, phishing attacks and identity theft”. So why doesn’t the software intervene and quarantine the problem or at least warn the user this is occurring? Why should I have to wait to have my equipment to become infected and then it be MY responsibility to contact you for help? Third, according to Microsoft, “Computer viruses are small software programs that are designed to spread from one computer to another and to interfere with computer operation”, so your company’s stand that the DNS Unlocker is NOT a virus is invalid (at best). If you feel this is inaccurate, please feel free to argue with Bill Gates. Lastly, I’m not asking your company for anything, except to get what I already paid for. I will not recommend your product to anyone.

> 3 dayI wouldve given it 4 starts. Easy to use, relatively light weight, seems to have kept me secure.(for 11 months) HOWEVER, with a little more than a month left on my subscription it began extremely invasive behaviors, endless pop ups to renew, constant warning signs and a grayed out menu bar icon. Now with 23 days left on my subscription it has crippled my VPN not allowing me to connect until I had to close down my VPN. Now I am hanging out in the wind with ZERO Protection. AGAIN, over 3 weeks left on my subscription. BTW- the renewal rate they are forcing me to sign up with is $79.99 a year!!!! I submitted a ticket on their online support page. I got an email back stating it will be 48 HOURS before I can expect a reply. Called their phone support number. After 5 minutes of recorded announcement describing all the various ways I can go screw off rather than get real support, they finally announce that my wait for an online agent will be at least 25 minutes. Not sure what happened to Webroot?!?! I called the customer service number given to re-subscribe and after describing my problem was given the advice to uninstall the app. I asked, you mean and go to another company????.....Yes. I said thanks and goodbye. Goodbye Webroot.

> 3 dayMy 2017 renewal was up. After comparing prices for the renewal and purchasing a CD from Amazon, I found that I would save quite a lot by simply ordering a new CD or download. I liked the comfort of having the CD as backup in case anything happens, so I ordered the CD. Since this is Prime eligible, it only took two days to arrive. The set up was a breeze. I entered the key code provided by the CD (printed inside the CD case, appeared sort of like a bar code). Just make sure be patient to wait for the activation process to complete and make sure to enter the correct number or alphabets, sometimes an 8 looks like a B etc. The system would do the rescan after the activation process completed, and it would show me how many days left for the software to expire (365 days). If you dont see any of these happened, that means you have done something incorrect, just do it again step by step.

Greater than one weekFirst Time Web root buyer i am pleased so far, the Installation was fast and easy with the PC Disc on one PC and 2 Laptops. After a week this has been protecting our computers and most of all there has been no sign of our computers and laptops being slowed by the Web root software. I purchased Web root because I read several reviews saying it was one of the best for internet security. Free applications are okay, but all the ads for upgrades were becoming a nuisance.

> 3 dayMost other security software tend to get in the way and slow down te computer, or to take forever to get their updates, or to want constant inputs from the user. Webroot does its job effectively and fast. Any, by the way, it also works with WinXP as well.

> 3 dayI have been using Webroot for at least 3 years. So far, I have not had any serious problems with hackers or virus. Some minor problems were solved by shutting down the computer and restarting. Amazon price is better than going to the Webroot website. Called tech support to get help loading the update, which was taken care of quickly.

Greater than one weekI did not get paid nor did I receive a discounted price or free product for this review. I purchased this product because I was in need of some additional protection on my laptop. I read many various reviews and I ran into webroot. I was attracted by their price point, the length of the subscription and the ability to protect 5 different devices. I personally only use it for 2 devices currently- two laptops. I believe there is also an app that you can download for your phone. I tried it and it wasnt what I expected; to my knowledge its simply a secure browser. I dont find much use for that, I prefer using bing personally. So that was a slight con. Aside from that, this product has been great so far. It has protected me against quite a few issues. It is very responsive. It is easy to scan your computer and it is quite quick. On one of the laptops, there were MANY known issues (detected from my previous software) and this was able to clear that up for the most part. All in all a very good product for the price. I recommend it.

18-04-2025I love the Webroot product overall. It would def get a 5 except that customer service cant get it working on my iPhone. Also, because I have more than 5 devices it wont integrate into a single account. Not happy about that and wish that all subscriptions could be on one dashboard. But this product does not slow my computer down and does a good job of protecting it. Plus it doesnt try to constantly download other products. For that even though this is a 4 for some things that we cant get working I must say that as a security product it is AMAZING!
