These plugs work really well. Once I got the app installed and setup the devices I was able to import them into Google Home and easily control them. They seem off because they are priced so low but work like a charm. Tuya (Smart Life) has inexpensive devices but they have given me no issues.

Makes turning lights and fans on and off more high tech. Can be difficult to establish connection. Make sure your not on 5G and it should work the first time. This is my second purchase of these gadgets. I’ll get more I’m sure.

They cost much less and work just as easy as others on the market. No need to spend a ton of money on other brands.

We love these! All I️ wanted was for all of my Christmas lights to turn on at the same time and this is It. We got them in the mail, my husband plugged them in a set up a “network” for all Christmas lights and viola! No worries about not being home. Also, I️ can turn them on early from my phone!!!!

Does not seem to reconnect to wi-fi if it drops for whatever reason like my smart switch does (different manufacturer). After I disabled my 5GHz wifi to only 2.4GHz, (no big deal for speed) the app loaded fine otherwise would just crash on my Android 8.0 Pixel 2. Had to dig into the Google Home app but I do have it paired up with it. Going to get at least one light switch as well.

Well, it is a rare day I give anything a 1 star, these plugs finally earn their place. Im relatively tech savvy, been at this a few decades and with Alexa have had no real issues except a few minor burps with a couple of Phillips Hue light bulbs that needed resetting per seriel number. Then theres these plugs, not my first Alexa plugs but had hopes theyd be just right where I was going to connect them with the Smart Home. After several plug outlets, several attempts, and trying in every location nothing ever is discovered, never connected, just the definitiion of insanity ringing in my head. Now I will have to do one thing I absolutely dispise, return a product. Theres some 5 star reviews where these things appear to operate great, others where they shut down sometimes, and others where they simply did not work. Looks like I got the simply did not work set as both fall into this most disappointing of categories. Like a casino slot machine, it looks like you have to buy these at your own risk and hope you get a pair that work consistently. Good luck!

Edit 11/11/17: Downgraded to 3 stars after having used these for some time. I still like it, and think its still value for money considering the other products out there. The issue Im having is its glitchy. Sometimes goes offline for no reason, requiring me to unplug and replug. And the timer function is only about 80% reliable- sometimes plain does not turn on. Have not identified any trends, its a cr@pshoot- some day lights turn on and some days they done. And often unplugging and replugging rectifies it for a few weeks. The Alexa function and phone control seem to be reliable so long as plug is online- but I wouldnt trust the timer for vital systems. Original post: Frankly, Im blown away and one part of me is still waiting for something to fail but it hasnt yet. Cheap, small, simple device with quick set up. Just plug it in, download the app to phone, connect the two and youre good to go. The app allows for basic functions like timer etc; scenes that can be triggered by sunset/sunrise, humidity etc- but have not experimented with these functions yet. Once you assign a name for each plug, works seamlessly with Alexa. And for less than 30 bucks for two, seems like a bargain compared to the other branded ones. Instruction manual wasnt helpful, with the usual bad English, but its not hard to figure out. Bought a 2nd set.

Summary Pros: -Google Home compatible after downloading the SmartLife app and linking to your assistance -No need for additional steps/requests (turn on x outlet works immediately) -quality outlets at a competitive price -No lag in turning on (though my Home is near the outlets so perhaps distance may affect this in further rooms) Cons: -only one Smart plug will fit in a traditional 2 outlet setup (however you CAN stilluse the 2nd outlet with a traditional plug) Full review: Being brand new to home assistants (specifically Google Home) I purchased this Smart Plug set of 2 as a trial based on the price. I do not have a hub and have heard mixed reviews of hubless items- specifically that they are not as easy to direct and require an additional request. This turned out to not be the case and Im definitely ordering more! First: packaging is simple yet effective. Each comes in its own box with instructions, paired in a little bag. Setup was simple. I decided to test one on my fish tank light. Once plugged in it immediately entered setup mode (instructions for reset to use elsewhere are of course provided) then I downloaded the SmartLife app through Google Home. After a simple click to add a new device it located the outlet and I was able to name it. This was the big test. I had heard non-hub devices require you to ask Google to access the app before requesting to turn on the device but this was not necessary. You simply ask to turn on x light and immediately it does so. Im very pleased at this product and highly recommend it! Just keep in mind that you can only use one smart plug in an outlet as the diameter is too large to fit two (however this DOES NOT block you from being able to use the other outlet with a traditional plug). Smart home, on a budget!
