Best Plug ever. I bought these to control The lights in my house. They work amazing Theyre actually probably making me Lazy But I dont care Because its so cool To be able To just say Alexa Turn off The light And the light turns off. They were very easy To set up And install I definitely recommend them As part of your smart home setup.

I used them for a lamp in my living room and a wall light in my bedroom. Very easy to use and works great so far. I connected them with Echo. Good thing is that you can name each plug whatever name you want. So I simply named them as “livingroom light” and “bedroom light”. Now when I come home I just tell Alexa to turn on the livingroom light for me. Never need to walk to the light switch in the dark anymore(yay!).

My first venture into using our Dot to control a few things. Took a few minutes to set up and I did that twice. Set the smart outlet app up first and the app was ok, It has the on/off action just like a light switch. Next I went to the Skill in Alexa for these plugs, and set them up in Alexas Smart Home settings. All went well, Quality seems excellent, Where I plugged in one it made the outlet a little hard to use the second outlet (my strange plug), I just added a connector, one of those short plugs with 3 places to plug something in and it solved the problem. In playing around as when we are on vacation I dont trust our router to stay on all the time so I use one of those lights on/off timers to reset it in the early AM. I my brilliant thinking, I tried the second plug to see if it would work away from home to reset the router. (bad idea you figure it out, I dont recommend trying it). It is cool that you can control lights or other things remotely using the apps.

Just watch you tube videos to install. I just plugged in my Christmas lights and connected it to my google home hub. Now I can tell my hub when to turn on and off my Christmas lights.

These work great and the software that controls them works great with my iPhone. You can set up to 720 on/off cycles per day ((24 hrs/day * 60 minutes per hour) / 2 for on/off) with the same setting for each day or different settings for different days. I use it as a security light to randomly turn on and off the lights through the night. It also interfaces with my Alexa, thus giving me the option to manually control the plugs from either my iPhone or from Alexa. Setting it up is easy, although there is no documentation that states it only interfaces with 2.4GHz wifi networks. I initially tried setting it up with my 5GHz, but it only gave me frustration. Once I figured out to use the 2.4, everything went great.

I bought these as a gift for a friend. When I tried to set them up, I found that his Spectrum-installed router had assigned the exact same name to both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands. for some reason, the band selected always defaults to the 5GHz. I was unable to find a way around the issue. I kept them, and they work perfectly on 2.4GHz at my home.

I was a bit hesitant about how these would work, but set up was a breeze. The app works fine and works with Alexa. I use one for my kitchen cabinet lighting. No more reaching behind appliances to turn them on. The other on a light fixture that doesnt have a normal size bulb. There is no dimming function, but works fine.

Im giving a pretty high review because I easily set up both of these using the default approach, and the price is good for the feature set. I downloaded the Smart Life app on iOS, created an account (yes, it requires your phone number...Im not too troubled by that). I had one problem giving my full Wifi SSID password, it was too long to enter into the Smart Life app on iOS. So I attached these to my guest network which has a shorter password (and probably a good idea anyway). If not for this one problem I might give a 5-star review. There was also a backup connection approach which makes these their own temporary WiFi AP (a lot of devices do this as an alternative connection means). I did not need to use that, as the plan A approach worked fine for me. I renamed each of these to a good straightforward name and enabled the Alexa Smart Life smart home skill, and discovered the devices. All of this worked flawlessly and I can use the app or Alexa to control these. The Smart Life skill also supports IFTTT for the more advanced home automation tinkerers. My only concern, I guess, is that these require a cloud platform to stay running for them to continue to work - and that means ongoing costs. If the company ever decides to shut this down, these no longer function. Although made in China my two units both connect to EC2 instances in US-West-2 on the MQTT port. You can easily check this by checking your local router to find the assigned IP, then search in the list of open ports what target IP and port they connect to, and then run a whois to find ownership of the related IP block. Anyway, Im counting on these staying operative but I guess there is no guarantee. EDIT: Ive been using these for many months and theyre still great.

Good price on these. The only hold back on the 5th star was the app that came with the plugs, didnt have a schedule to turn off and on the switches at a specific time, so had to use IFTTT to set it up. Again for the price they worked great after I got it setup
