Greater than one weekI used WeMo for 6 years and hated its slow sluggish response. The WeMo app is a piece of crap where it constantly freezes and fails to find devices. WeMo device themselves drops wifi connection aggressively. This new smart plug immediately connected to the wifi in 3 seconds and was ready in 4 seconds. WeMo took me 5 minutes to setup where this took 7 seconds max. I installed the app login and adding new device just took me 7 seconds. Warning there are lots of fake ones with the same name and the QR codes takes you to the wrong one. You are looking for Smart Life app. Then in Alaxa app I added the Skills called Smart Life from Alaxa skills market. Then after 20 seconds the linking was done. After scan it was all ready and connected. Both with the Android app and with Alaxa training on and off is 8 times faster then WeMo. Sooooooooo happy I bought this. Small, fast, and cheap.

> 3 daySUPER easy to hookup. I bought 2 sets of these for my Echo and in literally 20mins I had all the christmas stuff on them so when I walk in the door and say Alexa, Merry Christmas everything turns on. before bed I say Alexa, Cancel Christmas and it all gets turned off. I also setup some simpler routines to turn off just certain lights and leave others on etc. these are GREAT. they all basicll work the same, so just shop the deals and read the reviews....some are better than others but they all setup the same prety much, I have 4 of these and one other and they all lace nice all on the same Echo DOT (which is EXACTLY the same as the Echo except it sounds better and mosre bass, but thats it. Dont let anyone tell you different, theyre lying or simply dont know) if you dont need this for powering music etc then save the money and get the dot, if you want it for music get the echo for its louder speaker and bassier sound. Those or the only two differences. NOTHING more. Ive heard all kinds of stuff that Only the Echo allows calling and the DOT doesnt etc. /WRONG...they both do if you have two of them. if you only have one you will NOT have a calling, pging or intercom type of use on either one.

> 3 dayThese units are fine so long as you have uninterrupted power. But when the power goes off and on again, these units have to be manually reset. The problem seems to be that if the WiFi router isnt up and running when these units are powered on, they will simply hang until you manually reset them ... sort of defeats the purpose of a smart home when the devices are so idiotic.

> 3 dayThey frequently fall off my network and have to be manually reset. Can be challenging when plugged into outlet located behind furniture. Work great when they are connected. Not so fun when I have to go through and reprogram 8 outlets.

> 3 dayWorked great for about six weeks. Now...they are rather sporadic. They connect with Alexa only when they want and connect with my cell phone in the same manner, only when they wish to do so.

> 3 dayI bought this to run a grow light on a set schedule for indoor winter gardening in Alaska. Got the set of two so, Id have an extra to find a creative use for. Function is 5 stars. App is 5 stars. Setup was 3 stars. Setup was not easy and took multiple attempts. (my tech level: geek - all my PCs are home builds, Im the guy my friends and family calls for tech support, I know my way around software, firmware, routers, and networking) After several failed attempts following the Engrish steps on the included instructions for easy mode (recommended), I decided I WAS following the directions correctly, but it just wasnt going to work. Then, I attempted the AP mode setup (if EZ mode fails), where you connect your phone to the device directly via wifi to bootstrap it into submission to your router. That pathway worked on the first attempt, further re-enforcing my opinion that easy mode probably doesnt work that well (also saw other reviews here with similar results). At least one of the set-up algorithms worked, or Id be sending it back.
