> 3 dayBreaks my heart to write this, but this just wasnt a good choice for my child. She was nine when we got it in 2015 and barely got anything out of it except a ton of frustration. We do have a Mac, so that might have been a problem to begin with (Ive seen others who gave bad feedback about this and Macs.). But after multiple emails to support, we finally gave up.

> 3 dayI unschool my 8 year old, which means we learn what hes interested in as deeply as he wants to learn it. He asked to learn how to mod Minecraft, so we bought the Youth Digital Mod Design 1 course. We even learned something installing it (Java can be installed in both 32 bit an 64 bit on the same machine and to mod, youll need 64 bit installed). Within an hour of starting the course, he had installed the necessary tools by himself and had created his own sword in Gimp, modified code in Eclipse and was able to use his sword in Minecraft. He didnt stop talking about it for days.

Greater than one weekThis program is well worth the cost, 11 year old loves it. He had some beginning experience with python but is new to Java. The lessons are well put together and her is picking things up great. Great support as well, they are very quick to respond to his questions.

> 3 dayMy 11 and 12 year-old homeschooled boys love this... Theyre having a lot of fun with it and it doesnt seem like its one of our subjects, which of course, it is. They are both trying to finish quickly because they both want to move on to the next class. Completely kid and user-friendly, with an approachable format; well worth the money.

> 3 dayMy 11 year old and I started watching the videos, they are fun, until he made the first code change. Then he said, I got this, and proceeded to go into hacker mode. He did the classes, then started adding more stuff. Found new ideas on the internet. Sent off questions and got good tech support. He loved it, and I recommend it as a starter course in programming for most any kid.

Greater than one weekMy seven-year-old son was so excited by this product. Dad and son have spent hours together modding Minecraft with it. His first mod was to create his own custom sword and he was ecstatic. Dad liked the fact that he and his son had something we could do together that was a significant bonding experience. Well thought-out, and easy to work with, this is a product I HIGHLY recommend if you have a child who is a fan of Minecraft. Cant say enough good things about this software. (Works with Mac OSX too!)

Greater than one weekIm pretty disappointed with this class. Its overpriced for what you get. Something in the $100 range would seem more appropriate. The videos are fun and engaging but tech support is very slow and the Java platform and Minecraft versions are out of date. Three times we have tried to submit his final mod. Each time they respond back asking him to fix the errors. He cannot find any errors and it runs perfectly fine on our computer. They havent been able to give us any support as to why what they are seeing is different from what we are seeing. This is extremely frustrating especially since the class expires in a few weeks and we are no closer to getting this issue resolved than we were a month ago when it first came up. At this point Im just done! I would say, if you can get this as part of a lightening deal or at a significantly reduced price, go for it but as it runs right now, Id avoid it.

19-04-2025Pricey, but based on how much my son loved it and how much he learned, it was worth every penny. If this starts him off on a path to a career in software engineering, its actually pretty cheap.
