> 3 dayI will re-review after my son has had a couple of months experience with this. First impression, though, is not overly positive. This course is for an old (1.6.4) version of Minecraft, and a very old (JRE 1.6) version of Java. This caused hours of confusion and problems on my sons first attempt to start the course. You need to download Eclipse (a heavyweight Java development environment), which is slow, and when he started Eclipse per the video instructions (provided by a happy/chatty guy that my son seems to like but I find insufferable) was greeted with a blizzard of errors.

> 3 dayMy son, almost 8, is halfway through the Mod Design 1 course and loves it! His favorite part of each module is when he can actually see and use the things he created while in Minecraft. He loves taking screen shots to show his friends at school! He is able to do all of the work by himself but I do sit with him so I can act as a resource if he is stuck. He has learned a lot of basic computer skills as well as the programming skills by taking this course. Im very impressed with the content and the delivery and we will definitely check out other Youth Digital courses in the future!

> 3 dayA couple of things that you should be aware of before you buy. This course does not help you write Minecraft plugins, which is what most kids want to do. Also, it is only for single user mode and does not help you with servers, which is what most kids want to play on

Greater than one weekWonderful. My 11 year old loved it and was able to learn to code. I saw a bit of the video and I could see that it was very entertaining whilst teaching the kids. Well done. It would be great if they could produce more courses e.g. X Code. Also more of their current courses should be available on Mac.

> 3 dayBest self-teaching Java and Minecraft curriculum a kid could ask for. My daughter absolutely loved this program. It integrates great teaching videos, a programming environment, great support and more! Even I enjoyed watching and participating in the lessons while seeing her creations play out live on Minecraft.

> 3 dayI was a little worried reading some of the other reviews about downloading and installing the software pieces needed for this, but it seems Youth Digital have fixed these issues. Through their course videos, one of the first lessons is downloading and installing the software needed. It is one download that comes straight from them and it installs everything you need. It just works, and the videos make following along simple as can be.

> 3 dayOur sons love this course. Our 8 year old loves everything Minecraft so this was a win-win for us. I sit through the lessons and take notes just in case but they havent need me or the notes. They enjoy the quizzes and troubleshooting mods just as much as the lessons. We are all always excited to see the items they have designed in the actual game. I appreciate the way that Justin explains it on a level that is easy to understand but continues to use the technical terms so the kids actually learn the coding language!! The skills they are learning have easily transitioned to other formats. Each lesson takes approximately 30 - 45 minutes. Some of the design lessons took longer just because of the creative process. Justin is very engaging in the videos and the lessons are far from boring. The order of each lesson builds upon the previous lesson and offers a quick review. We have no problems with crashing or videos/content that didnt load or play properly. We plan to do many more courses with youth digital.

> 3 dayMy 10 year old daughter loves the creative mode of minecraft & loved the idea of being able to customize particular aspects of the game that arent available in the standard version. I was initially hesitant to pay almost $200 for her to take the online class, as shed tried scratch programming as was bored with it. However, she kept insisting shed pay attention and would really put effort into it if I were to let her learn Java for minecraft. I took the risk and bought the course online and I have to say Ive been SUPER impressed! Ive been with her through the online lessons and the lessons are indeed fun & easy to follow along with.

> 3 dayMod Design 1 is a fantastic program for mine craft enthusiasts! I recommend this to kids 8-14. My 11 year old was a bit skeptical at first because his Christmas gift was a online class, however, once he got started, he couldnt get enough! I am excited to give this review as STEM teacher-this is a must have for your brainiac! This took mine craft to a whole other level. The program is excellent and easy to follow. The instructors are only an e-mail away and are always great about personalizing their responses. Thank you Youth Digital!;)

I love how they lead your child step-by-step through the process to be sure they understand what they are learning. Very educational and worth the money.
