Zoo Med Wood Tortoise House

Bought this for our box turtle. It works great and I love that it has the lid, so I dont have to worry about him trying to escape. Before we got the Tortoise House we kept him in a large rubbermaid tub and the Tortoise House definitely looks much nicer! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that my husband ended up having to reinforce some of the sides with extra screws because it was bowing out, but once he fixed that it has worked great.

This is such an awesome and easy to assemble product! My tortoise loves her house. She is much happier than she was when she was in a glass terrarium! The box is very small and lightweight compared to how big the house actually is. It assembled in like 10 minutes maybe. No weird smells like some people said. This was a great buy and anyone with a tortoise should look into investing in one of these. Its nice because its low and visible for our young children without the risk of salmonella since it locks on the side. If you have really bad babies than you can add tiny locks like a diary lock. My kids do drop things inside since the grates on top are very large but this also allows for much better ventilation for the tortoise. I will be changing out our lighting for the hood light which fits with this product much better.

Awesome box. Bought for my tiny baby box turtle that I rescued after the hurricane here in Panama City. It is pretty big, she did not like it. So I moved her back into her other set up that she is thriving in. I will keep this box though if any other larger rescues come my way. Lol. It’s very well made.

I have a 6 Russian tortoise who came in a terrarium. Doing some research I discovered theyre much better off in an environment without clear walls so they dont feel so exposed. Lots of people design their own tortoise tables, but being not so into carpentry and without a toolshed, I went with the ZooMed Tortoise House. I think its well worth the money. It was easy to put together. Yes one side pops out a little, but the locks hold everything in place. I have since purchased another and doubled them up to give my tortoise more space. If you want the houses to actually attach, its up to you to do it. Another thing is you will have to reattach one roof on the opposite side. Not being very handy, I just removed all the hardware on the second house. The roof just sits and isnt attached, but thats fine. The houses dont line up exactly due to warping, but only a small amount of dirt trickles out. I put some contact paper on the outside to mitigate this.

Dont even try to get it. You are going to try to return it and after is put together you gonna end up like me putting it in the trash.

We originally had Squirt, our Russian tortoise, in a 40-gallon tank, but the glass walls drove her to distraction (although she did love dinner time, as she could see us eating and she ate then too) We dont share dinner time with her any more, but shes so much calmer now with the solid walls, and shes getting better light with the barred top rather than filtered light through the mesh.

This tortoise house is awesome and my tortoises love all the extra space. Make sure you have the right tools for construction! Overall awesome!

This is a well constructed house, perfect for two box turtles. Lots of space for a 9inch water dish and separate food dish. Hinged top makes cleaning all of it easy.
