> 24 hourI really like this rasp. It really eats up wood but doesnt leave a tattered surface. Would buy again, but I doubt I need to.

> 24 hourThis is the best rasp I have ever used, hands down. It is more effective in removing wood material of all kinds, and its coarse and finer sides gives it flexibility in varied applications. This same rasp is also made with a forward located handle for your off hand (have not seen it on Amazon) but if you want to use the other side, the handle has to be removed and re-secured on the opposite side. One caution is that because its surface is essentially flat, if there is a concave curve in the surface you’re working on, if not careful, it can be easy to create a gouge with the edge of the rasp. Would like to see one with a bit of a convex surface on both sides.

> 24 hourDidnt know what to expect as Ive never owned a rasp before - but this one came highly rated. After getting to know this tool over the past weeks, Im amazed at what it can do. The design is incredibly functional and efficient. Ergonomics are good, all things considered. Both the rough and finer faces are quite sharp and the tool is overall very sturdy and well-made. Ive used it so far on pine, cherry, and oak and it has performed flawlessly - eats through all of them, soft and hardwood, without any hesitation or difference in effort. Some reviewers noted that the stiffness of the overall unit ( wooden handle connection with metal rasp) eventually loosens - I havent experienced this so far. I plan to do a long-term review after Ive really put it through the paces on an upcoming furniture build. So far, a great tool at a reasonable price!

> 24 hourIve seen this rasp used on some You Tube channels and decided to buy one for myself. Im so happy I did. This is the best rasp I have ever owned. Other wood rasps were really files with aggressive teeth. Sometimes making gouges that took a lot of sanding to smooth out. The Shinto Rasp has both a fine side and a moderately aggressive side. Both sides are very easy to use and remove a surprising amount of wood in a single pass. Very little sanding is needed to obtain a perfectly smooth surface. I love this rasp and Im looking forward to finding more opportunities to use this tool. Would highly recommend this rasp to any woodworker.

> 24 hourSpecifically ordered the wooden handle, which is more expensive and seller sent the plastic handled version, which is significantly cheaper quality. Dont buy from this seller. You might as well just pay less from other sellers for the plastic one.

> 24 hourGreat tool! It removes a lot of material compared to a normal rasp and does not easily clog. I have four stars rather than five because the teeth on the coarse side lost their edge faster than I hoped, though I’ll admit I use the rasp a lot. A replacement blade piece would soften the blow of having to fully replace when it fills. I will be buying another one though. It’s a decent tool.
