15-11-2024Very cool tool; sharp and with both a coarse and smooth(er) side, it makes quick work of shaping wood. Ive set my usual set of wood rasps aside and soon will buy the 10 planer.

Greater than one weekIm new to woodworking and this was one of my first tools. I didnt appreciate it fully at first. But now i know exactly how fantastic it is. It chews through wood for stock removal and can smooth it over to an easily sandable finish. 5/5 stars. 10/10 Jameses would buy.

> 3 dayI own hundreds of dollars worth of rasps and files, but this has quickly become my favorite. I build guitars and similar musical instruments, and shaping the necks by hand is a big part of the work. This tool removes material quickly and evenly and doesnt leave behind the deep scratches that accrue from traditional rasps. I love being able to turn over the tool to change between more or less aggressive cutting. The size is right, the handle is comfortable. Theres just nothing not to like. Now, if only theyd make a version in a convex shape...

> 3 dayI was very impressed with this little tool. I have a coat closet door which was sticking at the top and made the door harder to open and close. I tried all the remedies out there which didnt work. I came across a video which suggested to use a Rasp for such a job. Within less than 5 minutes I was able to get the door to no longer stick. I didnt need to apply a lot of pressure because this baby is super sharp. I cannot wait to use it for my next DIY project.

> 3 dayThis is great for carving the neck of a guitar. You can use this rasp for the entirety of the project, or I would recommend starting with a belt sander or a spokeshave such as a Stanley 12-951 to shave the mass of it down the quickest, then use this rasp to finish the shape. The Shinto quickly and cleanly shaves wood with much ease and more control.
