> 3 dayI work with wood a lot- mostly carving with power tools and generally leaving the surface rough, but need things to touch up areas. I only have fairly cheap rasps, so dont know what a pricey (if that means good) rasp might do, but this thing really is great! Its pretty aggressive, yet smooth- probably especially useful if you want to create the illusion of a flatter surface. This feels almost like a hand plane, but rough.

> 3 dayI learned of this tool at a recent maritime museum workshop project class and used it extensively to shape and smooth wood prior to sanding. It is very effective. The only caution is to make sure it lies flat on the working surface. If inadvertently at an angle along the tool’s edge, it will rapidly cut an unwanted groove in your workpiece. At the close of the class, I dashed off to Amazon and purchased my own.

Greater than one weekI use this for woodworking - both precision work and roughing out caricatures. This thing really lets you get close to what you want to do for the fine detail.

Greater than one weekExcellent, 2-sided cutting rasp, with medium & fine-toothed sides. Easy to keep planar. Could benefit from a dipped, rubber grip at the tip. Think Ill make one. Think Ill buy another for a gift.

> 3 dayMan this thing is amazing! Just shreds hardwood. Great product. The handle is a tad cheap but the blade itself is just a beast. Way more useful than a normal rasp.

Greater than one weekIf you are into any woodworking at all, get this tool. Easy to use. Removes material quickly. Little effort with sandpaper needed after using this to smooth out the piece. Excellent tool. I am very happy that I purchased it.

20-11-2024I used this on a guitar build, both for shaping the neck profile and for the various contours on the body (forearm contour, belly contour). I tried using round files but they left all sorts of toolmarks and tons of uneven surfaces. This has two sides, one thats more rough to quickly take off wood, and a finer side. I was surprised how easy it was to use for a first-timer and how accurate I was able to get my curves with this. Its one of my favorite tools in the shop.

21-11-2024The Shinto rasp moves a lot of material but doesnt leave the gouges you see from other rasps making sanding and finishing take less time. Ill never be without a shinto rasp in my shop again.

> 3 dayI just put a clean half inch round over on a piece of scrap pine about one foot long in about half a minute without any trouble whatsoever. This thing just ate the wood and I barely did any work. I cant wait to put it to use on an actual project. A must buy for anyone doing any type of hand shaping.
