Amazing. Bought it to reshape a guitar neck profile. With little practice I was able to get exactly what I wanted from it. Not for super fine work, but very usable tool.

This is an extremely handy tool for rough shaping furniture legs, guitar neck blanks and so much more. Works fast and is completely controllable. I started carving with the coarse side to rough shape, then switched to fine to clean up the surface – with better than anticipated results! Finished up with 180- and 220-grit sandpaper, in record time vs. using a spoke shave. May have to order the planing version now...

I bought this on a whim but now love it. At a house move in a few months ago many doors were just a bit off. I used to use a hand plane to shave door tops, but this tool blows the plane away. It takes away a lot of material without collateral damage.

As a guy who makes his own tool handles I must say why didnt I get this before, accurate and fast. Use a draw knife to get basic shape of handle for Ax,hammer, chisel etc. Then use fine side of shinto rasp to finish handle then orbital sander using 150 grit and you are done. Can be hard to start on wood but change angle. This works Steve

To be clear, Id never used a rasp before. But I got into applying knife scales (handles) onto knife blanks. And a rasp is an invaluable tool for such shaping. This rasp is very effective, both course and fine sides. Along with scrapers and a bit of sandpaper, the results are very professional. I also used it to make a replacement tote (handle) for the used Stanley #7 jointer plane I bought on eBay. Again, great results. There are very expensive French rasps available but for a starter this was perfect. Rasps are absolutely essential if you have any need to form wood in non-rectangular, curved shapes!

Very aggressive and leaves a smooth finish just like the reviews said. How they found a perfect balance I dont know but I wish I wouldve bought this years ago. If you shape wood alot, do you self a favor and buy yourself one of these...
