I’m rating this product extremely high in large part to what I purchased it for, which is essentially as a college student device for doing Microsoft Office work and mostly basic functioning, which it does exceedingly well. The solid-state drive is greatly high quality and really carries the laptop, with an immensely quick startup and data reading (it is very responsive and opens field effortlessly). This is all assuming you understand it’s a baseline laptop and aren’t purchasing for gaming or AutoCAD-like tasks. I can play minecraft on it on lowest setting, but that’s the limit. (Which is impressive anyway for this build.) The graphics as well are akin to that of a(n older) kindle fire, with more color. That said, it’s as well impressively bright and can be used in medium sunlight. Beyond that, the speakers are very poor and quiet, not a big deal to me but good to know. One of the best thing about the laptop is the connectivity, with nearly all ports aside from SD card. With the lower GB SSD I got a 64 GB flash drive for files and with the USB 3.0 the write speed is quite up to par. It arrived already in S mode but you get a free opt-out, no biggy. Not sure if I covered all bases but I wanted to leave a good review because of how impressed I am with such a budget laptop

Why is the transformer not 65 watts?

cannot load youtube netflix or basic college course websites. i believe i got a glitched device because my connection hasn’t been 100% since day one. a refund or replacement would be appreciated thank you.

So happy with this purchase...laptop is awesome in everyway.

I just got this about a month ago, so far its pretty good with my child doing typing practice and using Adventure Academy. But the sound is pretty bad. Didnt notice it at first but I was trying to watch on fb my sons schools live video on opening or keeping up distant learning and I couldnt hear it! The volume was all the way up and it still wasnt loud enough had to switch over to my phone to listen in on the meeting. Hoping I can figure out a way to fix this without having to add speakers since Id like this to be very portable so my child can do school work on the couch or in his bedroom. Adventure academy was loud enough but now Im wondering if I will have issues with him doing video calls with his teachers.

I bought this laptop knowing it came with Windows S-Mode but read you could just turn it off. My first order had a defect that I think some others are also having relating to switching out of S-Mode. You have to go into settings to change out of S-Mode but mine had some error saying I didnt have a valid product key. Everything ran fine in S-Mode and its preinstalled so it must be some kind of glitch or defect with some of these Aspire 5 models. I assume the people who could not turn off S-Mode and paid money for a new version of Windows 10 had the same or a similar issue as me. Even Acer support could not figure out the problem. I contacted Amazon and they allowed me to get a replacement on the way without me even having to send my laptop back first, so long as Amazon had it within 30 days. They sent me a return label and everything, it was beautiful. So just have Amazon replace this if you have an issue with turning off S-Mode!

the first day it was great but now the sound is glitchy and barely goes through

I purchased this in January and in September I went to open up my laptop, hit the power button and the key board lit up and the screen remained blank. The cpu wasnt even making any noises. I called acer who had me trouble shoot it by pressing F2 and selecting a few options and that brought windows back up. About 4 days later I went to open it up and the same problem occurred. I called acer who told me to send it in, which cost me 50 dollars via UPS and took over 2 weeks to be returned. On the repair report, acer claimed I was unwilling to trouble shoot the problem which is a lie. They replaced the SSD and did a systems check and sent it back to me. It worked fine for 2 days then, to my dismay, it had the same problem, key board lit up, no display or computer fans running. I called acer to ask for a refund but they told me to ask Amazon for a refund. Amazon would only refund me 80% because it was past the 90 day return policy. Absolutely trash laptop, customer service and over all experience. Purchase something else!

The computer worked great for about 3 months then the mouse pad stopped working. Called customer support and searched videos to try and fix, but nothing worked. Now I have to pay to ship it back to see if they can fix it or get me another one. But inconvenience being without a computer - would not recommend.
