> 24 hourNice beefy rod but the fancy striker doesnt produce much sparks. A 5 inch length of hack saw blade does MUCH better! Yes, I know you have to scrape off the black coating first.

> 24 hour…don’t speak volumes on why this country is in such disrepair I don’t know what does. To give a “1 star” review because YOU purchased a product that you admittedly don’t know how to use?! Nice accountability. *hint* there are approximately a million videos on how to use a ferro rod but if it still eludes you…just chip it up-add some para cord and tell stories to your buddies at REI how it literally saved you from a night of sure death on Appalachian trail as this product is nothing short of amazing. You don’t realize how negative reviews hurt small businesses so-apologize to the good people who made such a great product…take a midol…get yourself a lighter and let the men talk. Good day sir!

> 24 hourOver all the best one i have ever owned! The diameter and length is really amazing and definitely gives you a feeling of real security that youll have fire when you need fire. I have had it for about a week now and have used it already, and it showers sparks very well. I actually mounted it to my Leatherman Supertool 300 sheath and carry it everywhere i go. One of the best pieces of edc kit i have bought.

> 24 hourFirst off, its 33 bucks. Second, there are no instructions with it. No hints. Nothing that will give you any clue how to use this if you have no experience (which I do not). Not even what part of the tool it comes with to use or how to use it. So, this was a poor choice for someone who doesnt know how to use something like this, even though the video makes it seem deceptively easy.

> 24 hourIf you have trouble holding on to or gripping smaller objects then this is what you need. My hands and fingers cramp up easily when I try to grab smaller objects. But this ferro rod is easy to grasp, hold on to and use. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend it!

> 24 hourThis is a huge Ferro rod. Should last 20 years. I removed the coating from the bottom half of the rod with 400 wet/dry sandpaper, using the supplied scraper I instantly showered the driveway with 4th of July sparks. Yeah, its gonna work. Bungee cord was worn where it passed through the rod, I simply replaced it. 8 length requires some thought on packing or carrying. No worries.
